Nitrogen-vacancy (NV) defect centers in diamond have recently emerged as promising candidates for a number of applications in the fields of quantum optics and quantum information, such as single photon generation and spin qubit operations. The performance of these defect centers can strongly be enhanced through coupling to plasmonic and photonic nanostructures, such as metal particles and optical microcavities. Here, we demonstrate the controlled assembly of such hybrid structures via manipulation with scanning near-field probes. In particular, we investigate the plasmonic enhancement of the single photon emission through coupling to gold nanospheres as well as the coupling of diamond nanocrystals to the optical modes of microsphere resonators and photonic crystal cavities. These systems represent prototypes of fundamental nanophotonic/plasmonic elements and provide control on the generation and coherent transfer of photons on the level of a single quantum emitter.  相似文献

A laser resonator with two annular spherical mirrors is studied. The self-reproducing mode of this resonator is established by means of a self-reproducing ray-cluster. Its existence condition and area are analyzed and provided for the first time. The resonator's adjusting accuracy is analyzed in detail and the relevant calculation for typical cases is illuminated. The tolerance of mirror center displacement from the axis of the coaxial discharge chamber is proved to be about 0-0.15 mm, and the tilt tolerance 0-6″, when resonator length L≈1 m, the radius of curvature of the two mirrors ρ≈5-10 L, and the loss of applicable radial width of the coaxial discharge chamber for light propagation is smaller than 1 mm. The object-image relation of the resonator and its application in adjustment of the resonator are also discussed.  相似文献

As a complementary scheme to a coupling-hole type laser, a walk-off ring coupling type laser is proposed to extract a donut shaped beam by shrinking the diameter of one of the stable resonator mirrors. This was successfully applied to a conventional slow axial-flow CO laser. First, finding the intensity distribution close to the Gaussian profile by using a partially transparent mirror in a hemispherical configuration for coupling, we obtain the relationship between the mirror radius and the effective transmittance. Then, using several mirrors with a diameter smaller than the Gaussian profile above instead of the partially transparent mirror, the output power with the donut shape was optimized to yield the maximum power, together with theoretical treatments. This resulted in an optimum mirror diameter of 4.2 mm, which corresponds to the optimum transmittance of 5-6% for the CO laser having the gain parameter G≅0.34, the inherent loss ā ≅ 0.07, and the measure of partial homogeneity m¯ =; 0.5. This value is exactly the same as that of the coupling-hole mirror. Some application feasibilities are also discussed.  相似文献

We propose the combination of low- and high-birefringence fibers (Low-Bi and Hi-Bi, respectively) to form a hybrid birefringence resonator. The transmission characteristics as a function of different parameters for the fibers used within these hybrid resonators are obtained by means of Jones matrix analysis. This yields information on fiber laser features such as polarization mode-beating frequencies (PMB), which are used as readout for polarimetric sensors. We compare theoretical predictions with experimental results on the dependence of PMB frequencies as a function of wavelength and effective birefringence of the laser cavity. Applications of this hybrid fiber laser arrangement for polarimetric sensors and wavelength monitoring through PMB frequencies are also discussed. The results provide a simple way for optimizing fiber laser parameters and increase the sensitivity of PMB signals to wavelength variations.  相似文献

The divergence of a long pulse, low gain XeCl excimer laser has been improved using confocal positive branch unstable resonators with variable reflectivity mirrors as outcouplers. With variable reflectivity unstable resonators, nearly diffraction limited beams are obtained. Variable reflectivity resonators lead to high brightness beams (9.1 10 W/(cm sr)). Different reflection profiles were studied with respect to their influence on the beam quality and the energy extraction.  相似文献

An automated laser system with an 8-kW quantum generator with the beam quality not worse than that of a single-mode laser is described. The possibility of using such a system in procurement production for cutting carbon and stainless steel sheets is demonstrated. The effect of conductivity variation as a proposed method for the investigation of photoconductive switching properties of split ring resonators (SRRs) is simulated. Three different systems that are applicable under certain fabrication and/or optical excitation conditions are described. The simulated transmission spectrum indicates that for a large range of dark conductivity values, complete switching of the SRR resonance is possible. One of the simulated systems, involving split ring resonators on Si substrate, was fabricated and characterized. The transmission spectrum of that system was measured, with the Si in its high-resistivity state, and a −60 dB dip between 108 and 115 GHz, due to SRRs magnetic resonance, was observed.  相似文献
