On the approximation to solutions of operator equations by the least squares method

We consider the equation Au = f, where A is a linear operator with compact inverse A ^–1 in a separable Hilbert space . For the approximate solution u _n of this equation by the least squares method in a coordinate system {e _k } _k that is an orthonormal basis of eigenvectors of a self-adjoint operator B similar to A ( (B) = (A)), we give a priori estimates for the asymptotic behavior of the expressions r _n = u _n – u and R _n = Au _n – f as n . Extension closure of k-torsionfree modules

Let Λ be a left and right Noetherian ring. For a positive integer k, we give an equivalent condition that flat dimensions of the first k terms in the minimal injective resolution of Λ are less than or equal to k. In this case we show that the subcategory consisting of k-torsionfree modules is extension closed. Moreover we prove that for a Noetherian algebra every subcategory consisting of i-torsionfree modules is extension closed for any 1 ≤ i ≤ k if and only if every subcategory consisting of i-th syzygy modules is extension closed for any 1 ≤ i ≤ k. Our results generalize the main results in Auslander and Reiten [4].

采用平板线加载的陶瓷电容型脉冲形成网络（PFN）构成了单开关调制的层叠Blumlein线发生器。采用传输线理论对短路寄生传输线的短路特性进行了理论分析,结果表明,短路寄生传输线的阻抗可以等效为耦合电感在主传输线的放电频率下产生的感抗。Pspice软件模拟表明,层叠线Blumlein线的电压叠加效率随耦合电感增加而增加。提出了一种磁环增感方法,在4级层叠Blumlein线上实现了3.1倍的脉冲电压叠加。     

Can a Circulating Light Beam Produce a Time Machine

In a recent paper, Mallett found a solution of the Einstein equations in which closed timelike curves (CTC’s) are present in the empty space outside an infinitely long cylinder of light moving in circular paths around an axis. Here we show that, for physically realistic energy densities, the CTC’s occur at distances from the axis greater than the radius of the visible universe by an immense factor. We then show that Mallett’s solution has a curvature singularity on the axis, even in the case where the intensity of the light vanishes. Thus it is not the solution one would get by starting with Minkowski space and establishing a cylinder of light.

A nullstellensatz and a positivstellensatz for ordered differential fields

We use the model completeness and axiomatisation of the theory of closed ordered differential fields to give a differential version of Dubois, Krivine and Risler's nullstellensatz and Stengle's positivstellensatz for ordered fields.     

Closed Formula for Options with Discrete Dividends and Its Derivatives

Abstract

We present a closed pricing formula for European options under the Black–Scholes model as well as formulas for its partial derivatives. The formulas are developed making use of Taylor series expansions and a proposition that relates expectations of partial derivatives with partial derivatives themselves. The closed formulas are attained assuming the dividends are paid in any state of the world. The results are readily extensible to time-dependent volatility models. For completeness, we reproduce the numerical results in Vellekoop and Nieuwenhuis, covering calls and puts, together with results on their partial derivatives. The closed formulas presented here allow a fast calculation of prices or implied volatilities when compared with other valuation procedures that rely on numerical methods.     

Closed trail decompositions of complete equipartite graphs

The complete equipartite graph $K_m * {\overline{K_n}}$ has mn vertices partitioned into m parts of size n, with two vertices adjacent if and only if they are in different parts. In this paper, we determine necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a decomposition of $K_m * {\overline{K_n}}$ into closed trails of length k. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
