Illuminating Molecular Processes in Living Cells

Lately, scientists have explored approaches to developing fluorescent and/or bioluminescent indicators to pinpoint cellular processes in single living cells. These analytical methods have become a key technology for visualizing and detecting what was otherwise unseen in live cells. The target signaling included second messengers, protein phosphorylations, protein–protein interactions, and protein localizations.     

On a Boolean-valued Model of the Strict Implication System(Continuous)

The reference [4] proved the consistency of S1 and S2 among Lewis' five strict implication systems in the modal logic by using the method of the Boolean-valued model. But, in this method, the consistency of S3, S4 and S5 in Lewis' five strict implication systems is not decided. This paper makes use of the properties: (1) the equivalence of the modal systems S3 and P3, S4 and P4; (2) the modal systems P3 and P4 all contained the modal axiom T(□p → p); (3) the modal axiom T is correspondence to the reflexive property in VB. Hence, the paper proves: (a) ‖As31‖ = 1; (b) ‖AS41‖ = 1; (c) ‖AS5l‖ = 1 in the model (where B is a complete Boolean algebra, R is reflexive property in VB). Therefore, the paper finally proves that the Boolean-valued model VB of the ZFC axiom system in set theory is also a Boolean-valued model of Lewis' the strict implication system S3, S4 and S5.     

OSCILLATION FOR SOLUTIONS OF SYSTEMS OF N-TH ORDER PARTIAL FUNCTIONAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

In this paper, some sufficient conditions for the oscillation for solutions to systems of n-th order partial functional differential equations are obtained.     

111In–L–LDL and 153Gd–L–LDL as radiotracers for detection of AR4‐2J rat pancreatic tumors

Pancreatic cancer has an extremely poor prognosis, due, in part, to lack of methods for early diagnosis. The present study was designed to evaluate the potential of labeling low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) with a radionuclide using a lipid chelating agent, bis(stearylamide) of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (L), to detect pancreatic tumors by gamma‐scintigraphy. Previous studies indicated that the difficulty of visualization of pancreatic tumors was due to their poor vascularization. This study compares the ability of two radiotracers, ¹¹¹In–L–LDL and ¹⁵³Gd–L–LDL to target highly vascularized rat pancreatic tumors (AR4‐2J) implanted in nude mice. Biodistribution studies showed that the tumor uptake of ¹¹¹In–L–LDL and ¹⁵³Gd–L–LDL tracers was twofold and fivefold higher respectively than with the controls (¹¹¹In citrate and ¹⁵³Gd citrate respectively). These tracers would thus be suitable for scintigraphic imaging. We show here that LDL could be employed as a delivery system for tracers such as ¹¹¹In or ¹⁵³Gd when these two radionuclides are complexed by a lipid‐chelating anchor, and that ¹¹¹In–L–LDL and ¹⁵³Gd–L–LDL enabled better visualization of the pancreatic tumor tissues, with a better result with ¹⁵³Gd–L–LDL. Near-optimal design of Global Positioning System (GPS) networks using the Tabu Search technique

This paper describes an optimization technique based on an heuristic procedure which is applied to analyse and improve the efficiency of the design of Global Positioning System (GPS) surveying networks. GPS is a valuable survey tool because of its ability to increase the accuracy, speed and flexibility of a survey. A GPS network can be defined as a number of stations, which are co-ordinated by a series of sessions, formed by placing receivers on stations. The goal is to select the best order in which these sessions can be organised to give the best possible schedule. Generally, solving large networks to optimality requires impractical computational time. This paper proposes a Tabu Search technique which provides optimal or near-optimal solutions for large networks with an acceptable amount of computational effort. Computational results for several case studies with known and unknown optimal schedules have been presented to assess the performance of the proposed technique.     

人原始生殖细胞的分离和体外培养

从4～10周龄药物流产胚胎的生殖嵴和肠系膜组织中分离原始生殖细胞(primordial germ cells,PGCs),培养在添加人重组白血病抑制因子(rh LIF)、人重组碱性成纤维细胞生长因子(rh bFGF)和Forskolin的小鼠饲养层细胞上.经过4～7 d培养,PGCs形成典型的鸟巢状集落.集落在传代过程中保持碱性磷酸酶活性,且胚胎阶段性特异抗原1(SSEA-1)、胚胎阶段性特异抗原3(SSEA-3)免疫荧光染色呈阳性.具有分化潜能的PGCs能在体外连续传代培养12代.结果表明从药物流产胚胎中分离的人类PGCs可以在体外培养成为具有分化潜能的多能性干细胞.     

Decentered twisted Gaussian Schell-model beams and their propagation through a misaligned first-order optical system

The propagation properties of decentered twisted Gaussian Schell-model (DTGSM) beams passing through a misaligned first-order optical system are studied. The explicit expressions for the cross-spectral density function and Wigner distribution function of the output beam are derived, which retain their form unchanged. It is shown that the DTGSM beams preserve their closed property. The second-order moments matrix and the Wigner distribution function evolve with the usual laws, whereas the first-order moments matrix varies, as if a ray passes through such system. The propagation of DTGSM beams through an aligned first-order optical system is treated as the limiting case that corresponds to the vanishing misalignment parameters.     

Nonlinear Diffusion Processes

We study elliptic systems of strongly nonlinear first-order differential equations in complex form on the plane. For such systems we develop the theory of Hilbert boundary value problems which is very much similar to the well-known theory for a holomorphic vector. Systems of nonlinear elliptic equations describe problems of interaction of several nonlinear stationary processes in the diffusive and convective mass and heat transport by hydrodynamic fluid flows.     

槲寄生蛋白注射液细胞毒活性测定的MTT方法探讨

采用MTT比色法对体外培养的肿瘤细胞进行细胞毒作用实验，验证槲寄生蛋白注射液体外抗肿瘤效果．并且鉴定这种检测方法的有效性。实验结果表明槲寄生蛋白注射液有一定的体外抗肿瘤效果；MTT比色法是一种可用的体外细胞毒作用检测法，为新药品的开发提供了实验依据。     

Stability analysis of structurally unstable man–machine system involving time delays

In this paper, a structurally unstable man–machine system is considered and a rigorous mathematical analysis is performed to study the influence of time delays in the control force on stability of the equilibrium solution of this system. Results on stability, instability and conditions for the preservation of stability (instability), besides the existence of bifurcation are presented.
