The direct injection of CO2 into the deep ocean is one of the feasible ways for the mitigation of the global warming, although there is a concern about its environmental impact near the injection point. To minimize its biological impact, it is necessary to make CO2 disperse as quickly as possible, and it is said that injection with a pipe towed by a moving ship is effective for this purpose. Because the injection ship moves over a spatial scale of O(102km), a mesoscale model is necessary to analyse the dispersion of CO2. At the same time, since it is important to investigate high CO2 concentration near the injection point, a small‐scale model is also required. Therefore, in this study, a numerical model was developed to analyse CO2 dispersion in the deep ocean by using a fixed mesoscale and a moving small‐scale grid systems, the latter of which is nested and moves in the former along the trajectory of the moving ship. To overcome the artificial diffusion of mass concentration at the interface of the two different grid systems and to keep its spatial accuracy almost the same as that in the small‐scale, a particle Laplacian method was adopted and newly modified for anisotropic diffusion in the ocean. Direct numerical simulation (DNS) has been performed to study the channel flow over a backward‐facing step at a Reynolds number Reb=5600 based on the step height h and the inflow bulk velocity Ub. A dynamic method has been used in order to generate realistic turbulent inflow conditions. The results upstream of the step compared well with the fully developed channel flow. Here fh+, f? denote quadratic potentials defined on Ω¯×{symmetric d×d matrices}, h is the minimum energy of fh+ and ε(u) is the symmetric gradient of the displacement field u. An equilibrium state û, Ê of J(u,E) is called one‐phase if E=?? or E=Ω, two‐phase otherwise. For two‐phase states, σ?E∩Ω∣ measures the effect of the separating surface, and we investigate the way in which the distribution of phases is affected by the choice of the parameters h??, σ>0. Additional results concern the smoothness of two‐phase equilibrium states and the behaviour of inf J(u,E) in the limit σ↓0. In the last decades it was observed that Clifford algebras and geometric product provide a model for different physical phenomena. We propose an explanation of this observation based on the theory of bounded symmetric domains and the algebraic structure associated with them. The invariance of physical laws is a result of symmetry of the physical world that is often expressed by the symmetry of the state space for the system implying that this state space is a symmetric domain. For example, the ball of all possible velocities is a bounded symmetric domain. The symmetry on this ball follow from the symmetry of the space-time transformations between two inertial systems, which fixes the so-called symmetric velocity between them. The Lorenz transformations acts on the ball Sof symmetric velocities by conformal transformations. The ball Sis a spin ball (type IV in Cartan's classification). The Lie algebra of this ball is defined a triple product that is closely related to geometric product. The relativistic dynamic equations in mechanics and for the Lorenz force is described by this Lie algebra and the triple product.  相似文献

Let be an irreducible bounded symmetric domain and Aut() be a torsion-free discrete group of automorphisms, X /. We study the problem of algebro-geometric and differential-geometric characterizations of certain compact holomorphic geodesic cycles S X. We treat special cases of the problem, pertaining to a situation in which S is a compact holomorphic curve, and to the case where is a classical domain dual to the hyperquadric. In both cases we consider algebro-geometric characterizations in terms of tangent subspaces. As a consequence we derive effective pinching theorems where certain complex submanifolds S X are proven to be totally geodesic whenever their scalar curvatures are pinched between certain computed universal constants, independent of the volume of the submanifold S, giving new examples of the gap phenomenon for the characterization of compact holomorphic geodesic cycles.Research funded by a CERG grant from Research Grants Council of Hong Kong.  相似文献

We prove the pointwise convergence of the Fourier series for radial functions in several variables, which in the case is the Dirichlet-Jordan theorem itself. In our proof the method for the case of the indicator function of the ball is very useful.
