Optimum gas chromatographic conditions in wall-coated capillary columns. Extended and simplified forms of the Golay-equation

Band broadening in capillary columns is satisfactorily described by the Golay-equation extended to situations of appreciable pressure drop by Giddings. In practice, however, several simplifications are often made. The effect of these simplifications on the calculated values of the minimum plate height and optimum carrier gas velocity are treated systematically.     

Mechanistic aspects of the Wolff-Kishner reaction. V. The cation effect on the reaction of benzophenone hydrazone in butyl carbitol and decyl alcohol

The rate of the Wolff-Kishner reaction of benzophenone hydrazone in butyl carbitol increases as the cation of the alkoxide base is varied in the order K>Na>Li>Mg. The replacement of butyl carbitol by 1-decanol also accelerates the reaction, and an additional increase is caused by the presence of crown ether. On the basis of changes in the activation parameters, it is concluded that the reactivity of the hydrazone anion increases as the contact ion pair becomes more fully solvated and dissociated.

首次以天然D-樟脑的衍生物为原料, 合成了两个新型龙脑基氨基醇配体, 研究了它们与硼烷原位制备成手性噁唑硼烷后, 在不对称催化氢化还原前手性芳酮中的性能, 得到的手性仲醇的对映体过量(ee)值最高可达96%, 还考察了反应温度、时间、溶剂等因素对苯乙酮的不对称氢化还原的化学产率和光学收率的影响.     

5,6—二亚甲基双环[2.2.1]庚—2—醇及其衍生物的旋光与构型

从（－）－（１Ｓ，２Ｒ，４Ｓ）－５，６－二亚甲基双环［２．２．１］庚－２－醇（Ｉ）和（－）－（１Ｓ，２Ｓ，４Ｓ）－５，６－二亚甲基双环［２．２．１］庚－２－醇（Ⅱ）出发，合成了它们的醚类和取代苯甲酸酯类光学纯的衍生物。通过［α］Ｄ测定和构型分析，发现它们是含有３个手性碳（Ｃ１，Ｃ２和Ｃ４）的桥环化合物，其旋光性与构型的关系均符合可极化度多级圆球不对称性模型。     

Surface effects on phase transition behavior and thermal polymerization of long-chain diynoic acids in micro DSC measurements

Effects of metal surfaces, such as aluminium, silver and gold, on the melting behavior and thermal polymerization of long-chain diynoic acids having a diacetylene group at different positions were investigated by thermal analyses using DSC, TG and other methods. The surface effects of metals were significant in the order of Ag, Al and Au. These effects are attributable to the anchoring of carboxyl group on the surface by chemisorption, which leads to unfavorable condition for polymerization of heptadeca-2,4-diynoic acid. In the case of tricosa-10,12-diynoic acid, containing a flexible methylene chain, inserted between COOH and C≡C?C≡C groups, the anchoring of COOH on the metal surface causes rather favorable effect on the polymerization.     

New Aspects of Cyclodextrin Chemistry Induced by Outside Type Complex Formation; Asymmetric Reduction of Indol-3-Pyruvic Acid with NaBH4 in Aqueous Solution

Asymmetric reduction of indol-3-pyruvic acid (IPA) with NaBH₄ in aqueous solution in the presence of various cyclodextrins (α-, β-, γ-, mono-6-amino-6-deoxy-β- and di-6^ABamino-6^AB-deoxy-β-cyclodextrin) was investigated. From the NMR and circular dichroism spectral studies, the conformation of the CyD–substrate complexes is suggested; the part of carboxylic group stay in the cavity of α-CyD, whole of IPA in β-CyD, two molecules in a γ-CyD cavity, and IPA(s) is/are on the rim of the cavity of mono-6-amino-6-deoxy-β- and di-6^ABamino-6^AB-deoxy-β-CyD (AβCyD, DAβCyD) with electrostatic interaction between amino group and carboxylic group. This conformational difference provides in the difference in the optical selectivity of reduction.     

C12-s-C12·2Br与低碳醇混合水溶液胶团化行为的温度效应和焓/熵补偿

季铵盐Gemini表面活性剂C12-s-C12·2Br(s=2,3,4,6)与丙醇、丁醇、戊醇、己醇混合水溶液的In(cmc)随温度升高而逐渐增大.计算所得热力学数据表明,C12-s-C12·2Br与醇混合胶团化过程服从熵驱动机理,也出现了焓/熵补偿现象.随着温度上升,熵驱动力增大,在指定温度时,醇分子烷烃链上碳原子数n增大使△Gm0值减小,胶团结构更加稳定;而增加s使值增大,胶团稳定性下降.     

Evidences for temperature-dependent mechanism of host-guest complexation

Summary High-performance liquid chromatography and ultraviolet spectroscopy methods were applied to the studies on the influence of temperature on the complexation of β-cyclodextrin with naphthalene and its derivatives. The strong nonlinearity of Van't Hoff plots suggests, that the retention mechanism of hydrocarbons investigated might be different in high and low temperature region. The total lack of correlation (r=−0.230) between chromatographic data (capacity factors ratio:k _PAH/k _PAH×CD) and spectrophotometric data (ΔA) at high temperature (60°) as well as a significant correlation (r=0.922) at subambient temperature (15°C) suggest, that the inclusion mechanism starts to be important at low temperature region and the predominant mechanism for chromatographic retention is the formation of an inclusion complexes in the mobile phase.     

Thermal effects and band spreading in capillary electro-separation

Summary Four Capillary Electroseparation methods are distinguished. All have an ultimate efficiency limited only by axial diffusion and are in principle capable of achieving 10⁶ plates in <1 hour.The main limitation to performance arises from Ohmic heating of the electrolyte. While forced convection at 10ms^–1 is recommended to keep tubes cool, the parabolic temperature profile within the electrolyte limits the tube bore which can be used.
