Multiwalled carbon nanotubes were modified by carboxy groups. Four independent methods for the determination of the degree
of functionalization of the surface were proposed: 13C NMR spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, titrimetry, and fluorimetry. The first two methods show the total content of carboxy
groups in the sample, and the latter two methods give information about the content of the surface groups only.

The polycrystalline sample of layered compound FePS_3 has been investigated by using M?ssbauer spectroscopy (12K to 300K), magnetic susceptibility measurements, x-ray diffraction and FTIR spectroscopy. The antiferromagnetic order exists below T_N=120.5±1K. The M?ssbauer spectra below T_N indicate that the magnetization axis is perpendicular to the layer of FePS_3, and the divalent iron cations are in their high spin configurations. By fitting the hyperfine field parameters near the Néel temperature, we obtain information on the nature of magnetic interactions in the material. The results show that the magnetic coupling can be treated by the two-dimensional Ising model, and it can be interpreted on the basis of a crystal-field effect. 相似文献

Image potential resonances on the Sn/Ge(1 1 1) α-phase are investigated by two closely related methods: specular electron reflection and so-called selective electron scattering. Electrons from image resonances are detected on this surface at 120 and 300 K, i.e. below and above the phase transition at about 200 K. The dispersion of the image resonances reveals at these two temperatures equivalent effective electron masses, which are characteristic for this type of electronic surface states. The results of the two methods are consistent according to the similarity of the scattering processes. Changes in the loss peak intensity with the annealing temperature are assigned to the surface quality and are reflected by characteristic photoemission intensities. 相似文献

Traditional treatment methods used to clean-up heavy metal contamination of soils and waters are cost intensive whereas more cost effective methods need to be developed. The use of plant materials to remediate heavy contamination has been studied for the past two decades. This technique has shown much promise for many of the common heavy metal contaminants, but few studies have focused on the lanthanide series elements. By investigating the binding and interactions of the lanthanide elements to alfalfa biomass, a more complete understanding of the binding mechanisms and the interactions of heavy metals with biomaterials can be obtained. Different chemical functional groups on the alfalfa biomass, carboxyl, amino, sulfur, and ester groups, were modified to investigate the binding mechanisms of erbium(III) and holmium(III). Batch experiments were performed with native and chemically modified alfalfa biomass suggesting that the carboxyl groups play a major role in the binding of erbium(III) and holmium(III) to the alfalfa biomass. In addition, X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) studies corroborated the data obtained from the batch experiments. 相似文献

α-Fe2O3-In2O3 mixed oxide nanoparticles system has been synthesized by hydrothermal supercritical and postannealing route, starting with (1−x)Fe(NO3)3·9H2O·xIn(NO3)3·5H2O aqueous solution (x=0-1). X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy have been used to study the phase structure and substitutions in the nanosized samples. The concentration regions for the existence of the solid solutions in the α-Fe2O3-In2O3 nanoparticle system together with the solubility limits of In3+ ions in the hematite lattice and of Fe3+ ions in the cubic In2O3 structure have been evidenced. In general, the substitution level is considerably lower than the nominal concentration x. A justification of the processes leading to the formation of iron and indium phases in the investigated supercritical hydrothermal system has been given. 相似文献

locked to the frequency difference between two hyperfine peaks. We use this technique to measure hyperfine intervals in the

state of 85Rb and obtain a precision of 20 kHz. We extract values for the magnetic-dipole coupling constant A
= 25.038(5) MHz and the electric-quadrupole coupling constant B
= 26.011(22) MHz. These values are a significant improvement over previous results.

In this work, chemically and topographically nanopatterned surfaces were produced by a top-down processing approach for biosensing devices. The nanopatterning was the result of the combination of plasma polymerisation (pp) of biofunctional materials and colloidal lithography techniques. The morphological and chemical properties induced by the plasma deposition-etching treatment were characterised by optical method combining ellipsometry and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy studies. This method supported by atomic force microscopy measurements, allowed the full optical characterization of each step of the top-down process. The optical characterization of the end-up nanopatterned samples demonstrated that the chosen process is able to produce well-defined nanostructured surfaces with controlled chemical and morphological properties. 相似文献

The relationships of the structure and electrical properties of anisotropic HCl‐doped polyaniline (PANI) films cast from N,N′‐dimethylpropylene urea (DMPU) solutions and stretched to different draw ratios were studied. The anisotropic structure of the stretched PANI films was examined by X‐ray diffraction, near‐infrared wave‐guide coupling, and polarized infrared measurements. The PANI emeraldine base (EB) films cast from DMPU solutions had a single‐phase noncrystalline structure, and stretching of the films did not cause crystallization to occur. The transition moment angles of two weakly absorbing infrared bands were determined, and the Hermans' orientation functions for the PANI EB films were calculated. The PANI films were then doped with HCl, and the electrical properties were determined by impedance spectroscopy. With a specially designed test fixture, the in‐plane and through‐plane impedance was obtained. The conductivity along the stretch direction increased with orientation.
