The coherent combining of two Nd:YAG lasers using a Vernier–Michelson-type cavity has been demonstrated. The spectral behaviour and the energetic performance are reported. We firstly show that the combining efficiency is not strongly spoilt by the gain imbalance between the two amplifying media, and secondly, that despite the interferometric nature of the cavity, the Vernier–Michelson laser can withstand environmental perturbations without alteration in output power. We report the efficient continuous-wave (CW) and Q-switched laser operation of a diode-pumped Yb:YVO4 laser. A CW output power of 1 W with a slope efficiency of 59% with respect to absorbed pump power was demonstrated. Passively Q-switched with a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber, a Yb:YVO4 laser with Raman conversion was demonstrated. Q-switched 18.7- J pulses with a pulse duration of 17 ns and a peak power up to 1 kW were obtained at 1018-nm fundamental wavelength and 3.6- J pulses with a pulse duration of 6 ns and a peak power of about 0.6 kW were obtained at 1119.5-nm first-Stokes wavelength.This revised version was published online in March 2005. We report on a passively Q-switched diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser polarized along the a axis (corresponding to the smallest value of emission cross section at 1064 nm), generating 157-μJ pulses with 6.0-ns time duration (>20 kW peak power) and 3.6 W of average power at 1064 nm with good beam quality (M2<1.4). The selection of the polarization was performed by a novel technique relying on the birefringence of the laser crystal and on the misalignment sensitivity of the resonator. Simultaneous Q-switching and mode-locking (QML) is accomplished in a diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser using low-temperature GaAs (LT-GaAs) as the saturable absorber, which also acts as an output coupler at the same time. The repetition rate of the Q-switched envelope increased from 25 to 40 kHz as the pump power increased from 2.2 to 6.9 W. The mode-locked pulses inside the Q-switched pulse envelope had a repetition rate of 714 MHz. A maximum average output power of 770 mW was obtained.  相似文献

We report a high power and high efficiency double resonant ZnGeP2 (ZGP) optical parametric oscillator (OPO) pumped by a Tm,Ho:GdVO4 laser. We employ a Tm,Ho:GdVO4 laser as the pump source operated at 2.049 μm with M^2 = 1.1. The ZGP OPO can generate a total combined output power of 14.1 W at 3.80μm signal and 4.45 μm idler under pumping power of 28. 7 W. The slope efficiency reaches 61.8%, and M^2 = 3.6 for OPO output is obtained.  相似文献

We report an L-shaped symmetrical co-folding-arm plane-plane diode pumped solid-state yellow laser at 589 nm by using intracavity sum-frequency mixing. By carefully designing the cavity and employing various techniques to optimize the laser’s specifications, a quasi-continuous-wave (QCW) free-oscillation yellow laser source, which has an average output power of 8.1 W, a beam quality factor of M2 = 2.3, and a repetition rate of 1.1 kHz, is developed. The generation of yellow laser at 589 nm is achieved by intracavity sum-frequency mixing between the laser lines at 1319 nm and 1064 nm of an Nd:YAG laser in a KTP crystal. To the best of our knowledge, the 8.1 W output at 589 nm is higher than any other diode pumped solid-state yellow laser generated by intracavity sum-frequency generation so far.  相似文献

This work presents experimental results concerning a passively Q-switching Nd:LuVO4 laser with a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber operated in a three-element cavity. When the pump power exceeded 5.47 W, the system transfers stable pulse train into spatial-temporal instability. Furthermore, the chaotic pulse train accompanied the generation of a satellite pulse. The experimental results reveal that the mechanisms of instability and generation of the satellite pulse are governed by the multitransverse mode competition.  相似文献

We demonstrate the generation of 515 nm green laser with diode-pumped Yb:YAG thin disk by intracavity frequency doubling of type-I phase-matched LiB3O5(LBO) in a V-type cavity at room temperature. A continuous-wave (CW) output power of 4.44 W at 515 nm was obtained. Optical-optical efficiency of 515 nm green laser is 14.6%. The fluctuation of green laser was 1.6% at the maximum output power in 0.5 h. Thermal lensing effects in Yb:YAG thin disk are investigated too.  相似文献

The influence of the direct pumping into the 4F3/2 emitting level on the output characteristics of continuous-wave (CW) pumped, passively or actively (acoustooptic, AO) Q-switched Nd lasers is discussed. In case of passive Q-switching by Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber (SA) crystal, the change of pumping wavelength from 0.81 μm into the highly-absorbing 4F5/2 level to 0.88 μm into the 4F3/2 level of Nd does not modify the energy of the Q-switch pulse, but increases the pulse repetition rate and the laser average power for the same absorbed pump power. This is demonstrated with 0.81 and 0.88 μm CW laser diode-pumped Nd:YAG and Nd-vanadate lasers with average output power in the watt-level range at 1.06 μm. The effect is explained by the control of passive Q-switching by the intracavity photon flux that is influenced by the pump wavelength and by the initial transmission of the SA crystal. On the other hand, it is discussed and experimentally proved that due to the possibility to control externally the frequency of switching, in case of the AO Q-switched Nd laser the change of the pump wavelength from 0.81 to 0.88 μm increases the pulse energy for a fixed frequency, leading to a corresponding increase of the average laser power.  相似文献

3+ :Ho3+:YAG laser is operated in active mirror configuration. This laser is characterised by a rather thin crystal (3 mm thickness in our experiment) and a very short resonator (about 3.2 mm). Therefore this laser is well suited for operation in a single longitudinal mode. Single-frequency operation is demonstrated with and without an intracavity etalon. It is further shown that single-frequency emission is reached with a stable cw emission. With a slight detuning of the outcoupling mirror, spiking can be achieved, resulting in an emission on different lines. The assignment of the observed laser lines to the known transitions between Stark sublevels of the 5I7 and the 5I8 level is discussed and compared with predictions in the literature.
