A comparative study of the propagation of vectorial nonparaxial beams in the use of different approaches

Starting from the vectorial Rayleigh diffraction integral formula and using a simple expansion of the nucleus in the Rayleigh formula, an analytical propagation equation of vectorial nonparaxial Gaussian beams in free space is derived, which permits us to perform numerical calculations in comparison with the expression derived by Ciattoni et al. and with the direct numerical integration of the Rayleigh formula. It is found that as usual the use of expansion of vectorial Rayleigh diffraction integral is sufficient to provide satisfactory numerical results as compared with the direct integration of the Rayleigh formula. The above two analytical expressions are valid under certain conditions, however both are applicable in the far field.     

Isobar separation at FRS-ESR – a development towards pure isomeric stored beams

One important goal of the ILIMA project at FAIR is the study of masses and decay properties of relativistic isomeric beams stored and cooled in the planned storage-ring complex. A new scheme is described, where a storage-cooler ring is used for high-resolution mass separation. Experimental results on the separation of the isobaric pair ¹⁴⁰Pr-¹⁴⁰Ce are presented. P. Almost-sure path properties of fractional Brownian sheet

The almost sure sample function behavior of the vector-valued fractional Brownian sheet is investigated. In particular, the global and the local moduli of continuity of the sample functions are studied. These results give precise information about the continuity and the oscillation behavior of the sample functions.     

An efficient algorithm for elasto-viscoplastic vibrations of multi-layered composite beams using second-order theory

An efficient time-domain algorithm for plane non-linear flexural vibrations of multi-layered composite beams, which are driven into the inelastic range by severe transverse loadings, is presented. The influence of an axial static preload is considered in the sense of the quasi-linear second-order theory of structures. The inelastic parts of strain are treated as additional sources of selfstress in the linear elastic background-structure, driving the elastic response into the inelastic one. The efficiency of this exact formulation lies in the fact that linear solution techniques can be used in their most powerful form: Rubin's useful formulation for the quasi-static second-order transfer-matrix of linear elastic structures is applied in combination with modal analysis. Having in mind multi-metal beams, the classical lamination theory is assumed to be valid. Beams with overhang composed of ideal elastic-plastic and viscoplastic layers are studied as example structures. The fictitious sources of selfstress are calculated from the different material laws of the layers in a numerical time-stepping procedure, where a generalized midpoint-rule in combination with Crisfield's secant-Newton procedure is used.

Contributions of Spin–Lattice Relaxation to the Echo Decay of Planar Cu in High-Temperature Superconductors

Measurement ofT_2G, the Gaussian component of the spin-echo envelope of planar Cu nuclei in high-temperature superconductors, gives important information about the real part of the Cu electron spin susceptibility. In the traditional picture of the planar Cu echo decay, the internuclear coupling is assumed to remain static with respect to spin–lattice relaxation and mutual exchange fluctuations. In some circumstances, however, this assumption breaks down. We calculate the internuclear corrections arising from spin–lattice relaxation to the conventional theory ofT_2Gand show thatT_2Gcan be easily corrected for these effects. We argue that mutual exchanges due to the perpendicular indirect couplings are suppressed in these materials. For YBa₂Cu₄O₈, we find a correction on the order of 10% inT_2Gand using the corrected values we find that the isotope ratio⁶³T_2G/⁶⁵T_2Gagrees with theory.     

大非线性相移下光学非线性Z扫描特性的研究

采用高斯分解法(GD)对大非线性相移下的Z扫描特性进行了分析，通过对数值算法的优化，将GD推广到对脉冲入射激光下大非线性相移下的Z扫描理论分析.对不同条件下大非线性相移Z扫描曲线峰谷结构的比较，发现在大非线性相移的情况下，Z扫描曲线的峰和谷随透过光阑或入射光强变化表现出某些新的特性.随着透过光阑孔径的增加，Z扫描曲线峰的变化要明显快于谷的变化，而且在谷明显存在的情况下，峰很快消失.采用皮秒脉冲激光下的纯二硫化碳实验对理论结果加以验证，实验结果和理论分析相一致.我们的分析结果对大非线性相移下Z扫描测量有一定的指导性意义，避免在大非线性相移下对Z扫描结果产生错误的分析. 关键词： 大非线性相移 高斯分解法 Z扫描     

Polynomial expansion of basis sets: Alternatives to fully optimized exponents

Alternatives based on polynomial expansions of gaussian basis set exponents are introduced and evaluated. The formulas presented here outperform methods based upon the even-tempered formula or combinations of it. They closely match the performance of other methods based upon larger polynomial expansions of the logarithm of the exponents using the same or one less parameter per orbital angular symmetry.     

Theoretical and computational studies of vectorial processes in biomolecular systems

Efficient vectorial processes such as the transduction of bioenergy and signals are characteristics that strikingly distinguish living systems from inanimate materials. Recent developments in biophysical and biochemical techniques have provided new information about the structure, dynamics and interaction of biomolecules involved in vectorial life processes at multiple length and temporal scales. This wealth of data makes it possible to carry out theoretical and computational studied of key mechanistic questions associated with complex life processes at an unprecedented level. Using two “vectorial biomolecular machines”, myosin and cytochrome c oxidase, as examples, we discuss the identification of interesting and biologically relevant questions that require thorough theoretical analysis. Technical challenges and recent progress related to these theoretical investigations are briefly summarized     

On the Equivalence of Multiparameter Gaussian Processes

Our purpose is to characterize the multiparameter Gaussian processes, that is Gaussian sheets, that are equivalent in law to the Brownian sheet and to the fractional Brownian sheet. We survey multiparameter analogues of the Hitsuda, Girsanov and Shepp representations. As an application, we study a special type of stochastic equation with linear noise.
