A result by Franzová and Smítal shows that a continuous map of the interval into itself is chaotic if and only if its topological sequence entropy relative to a suitable increasing sequence of nonnegative integers is positive. In the present paper we prove that for any increasing sequence of nonnegative integers there exists a chaotic continuous map with zero topological sequence entropy relative to this sequence.

Active control of bending waves in a periodic beam by the Timoshenko beam theory is concerned. A discussion about the possible wave solutions for periodic beams and their control by forces is presented. Wave propagation in a periodic beam is studied. The transfer matrix between two consecutive unit cells is obtained based on the continuity conditions. Wave amplitudes are derived by employing the Bloch-Floquet theorem and the transfer matrix. The influences of the propagating constant on the wave amplitudes are considered. It is shown that vibrations are still needed to be suppressed in the pass-band regions. Wave-suppression strategy described in this paper is employed to eliminate the propagating disturbance of an infinite periodic beam. A minimum wave-suppression strategy is compared with the classical wave-suppression strategy. 相似文献

A dynamic analysis of an elastic gradient-dependent polymeric fiber subjected to a periodic excitation is considered.A nonlinear gradient elasticity constitutive equation with strain-dependent gradient coefficients is first derived and the dispersive wave propagation properties for its linearized counterpart are briefly discussed.For the linearized problem a variational formulation is also developed to obtain related boundary conditions of both classical(standard)and non-classical(gradient)type.Analytical solutions in the form of Fourier series for the fiber’s displacement and strain fields are provided.The solutions depend on a dimensionless scale parameter(the diameter to length radio d = D/L)and,therefore,size effects are captured. 相似文献

In this work, we study the existence of C n -almost periodic solutions and C n -almost automorphic solutions (n?≥?1), for partial neutral functional differential equations. We prove that the existence of a bounded integral solution on ?+ implies the existence of C n -almost periodic and C n -almost automorphic strict solutions. A diffusive predator–prey system with Ivlev-type functional response subject to Neumann boundary conditions is considered. Hopf and steady-state bifurcation analysis are carried out in detail. First, the stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of spatially homogeneous and inhomogeneous periodic solutions are investigated by analysing the distribution of the eigenvalues. The direction and stability of Hopf bifurcation are determined by the normal form theory and the centre manifold reduction for partial functional differential equations and then steady-state bifurcation is studied. We consider a problem of modeling the thermal diffusion process in a closed metal wire wrapped around a thin sheet of insulation material. The layer of insulation is assumed to be slightly permeable. Therefore, the temperature value from one side affects the diffusion process on the other side. For this reason, the standard heat equation is modified, and a third term with an involution is added. Modeling of this process leads to the consideration of an inverse problem for a one‐dimensional fractional evolution equation with involution and with periodic boundary conditions with respect to a space variable. This equation interpolates heat equation. Such equations are also called nonlocal subdiffusion equations or nonlocal heat equations. The inverse problem consists in the restoration (simultaneously with the solution) of the unknown right‐hand side of the equation, which depends only on the spatial variable. The conditions for overdefinition are initial and final states. Existence and uniqueness results for the given problem are obtained via the method of separation of variables. 相似文献
