The collision of frictional granular particles may be described by an interaction force whose normal component is that of viscoelastic spheres while the tangential part is described by the model by Cundall and Strack (Géotechnique 29, 47 (1979)) being the most popular tangential collision model in Molecular Dynamics simulations. Albeit being a rather complicated model, governed by 5 phenomenological parameters and 2 independent initial conditions, we find that it is described by 3 independent parameters only. Surprisingly, in a wide range of parameters the corresponding coefficient of tangential restitution, epsilont, is well described by the simple Coulomb law with a cut-off at epsilont = 0. A more complex behavior of the coefficient of restitution as a function on the normal and tangential components of the impact velocity, gn and gt, including negative values of epsilont, is found only for very small ratio gt/gn. For the analysis presented here we neglect dissipation of the interaction in normal direction.  相似文献

We study the possibility of collision of a δ-wave with a stationary δ′-wave in a model ruled by equation f (t)u t+[u2?β(x?γ(t))u]x = 0, where f, β and γ are given real functions and u = u(x, t) is the state variable. We adopt a solution concept which is a consistent extension of the classical solution concept. This concept is defined in the setting of a distributional product, which is not constructed by approximation processes. By a convenient choice of f, β and γ, we are able to distinguish three distinct dynamics for that collision, to which correspond phenomena of solitonic behaviour, scattering, and merging. Also, as a particular case, taking f = 2 and β = 0 we prove that the referred collision is impossible to arise in the setting of the inviscid Burgers equation. To show how this framework can be applied to other physical models, we included several results already obtained.  相似文献

Tumor‐associated carbohydrate antigens (TACAs) are key components of cancer vaccines. A variety of vaccines based on native TACAs such as α‐Tn have shown immunogenicity and protection in preclinical animal studies, however, their weak immunogenicity, low in vivo instability, and poor bioavailability, have discouraged their further evaluations in clinical studies. A new improved vaccine prototype is reported. It is composed of four clustered Tn‐antigen mimetics and a immunogenic peptide epitope that are conjugated to a cyclopeptide carrier. The immunization of mice with this vaccine 1) was safe, 2) induced a strong and long‐lasting Tn‐specific response with IgM/IgG antibodies able to recognize native carbohydrate antigens; 3) produced high titers of IgG1, IgG2a, and IgG3 antibodies; and 4) produced a significant antibody‐dependent regression of tumors and conferred protection. Altogether, these findings pave the way for the clinical development of safe and effective therapeutic vaccines against Tn‐expressing cancers.  相似文献

Dispersion relations for geodesic acoustic modes are derived by using the Grad hydrodynamic equations thereby reconciling long known but not previously explained discrepancy between the results of kinetic and fluid calculations. Extended fluid theory allows a simple analysis of mode polarization and coupling. A new type of electromagnetic modes induced by geodesic compressibility is predicted. These modes are related to Alfvén and geodesic acoustic modes. While a standard geodesic acoustic mode involves poloidally and toroidally symmetric perturbations of electrostatic potential (m=n=0) and the first poloidal side-bands of plasma pressure, new modes involve side-bands of the electrostatic and vector potential as well as pressure perturbations at zeroth and second harmonics. It is shown that there exist two different values of the adiabatic constant depending on the mode polarization. Both standard (electrostatic) geodesic acoustic modes and new electromagnetic modes involve finite perturbations of parallel viscosity, which modify an effective adiabatic (compressibility) index for a toroidal plasma.  相似文献

A new synthetic method for preparing Tn glycoconjugate polymers, containing tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens, by controlled living radical polymerization is reported. To mimic the authentic structures of Tn glycopeptide antigens and to explore the controlled living radical polymerization, three tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens (GalNAc, GalNAcα1-O-Ser, and GalNAcα1-O-Thr) were attached to a styrene-type monomer through a diethylene glycol spacer. Under nitroxide-mediated polymerization, controlled living radical polymerization proceeded to afford defined glycopeptide polymers with different Tn densities and compositions. The polydispersity index (PDI) and molecular weights were increased and conversions were decreased upon increasing the concentration of Tn glycoconjugate monomers. The resulting Tn glycoconjugate polymers were characterized by NMR and IR. The spectral data indicate that the Tn glycoconjugate moiety did attach to the polymer chain and Tn glycoconjugate density could be adjusted through the nitroxide-mediated polymerization conditions. The number of Tn units containing in the polymer chains could be estimated by NMR integration. This synthetic approach provides a new and efficient tool for constructing novel Tn glycoconjugate polymers.  相似文献

A recombinant transposon Tn5-GmSp, produced by replacing the central BglⅡ fragmentwith a BamHⅠ one of R1033, was utilized to detect Tn5 transposition inhibition in Rhizo-bium leguminosarum. Two types of suicide plasmids (pXS102 and pCW3/pCW30) were con-structed for Tn5-GmSp transposition. The frequency of transposition in both constructs wasgreatly reduced in the Rhizobium strains where a resident Tn5 was already present. WhenpXS102 was transferred into a Tn5-containing Rhizobium strain, the transconjugants retainedthe deleted forms of pXS102, indicating that the failure of transposition was due to the lossof the unstable prophage Mu element. In the case of pCW3/pCW30, vectors were not ob-served in the transconjugants although most of them retained the antibiotic resistant markers.This result suggested the integration of Tn5-GmSp into the rhizobial host genome throughrecombination.  相似文献

A facile and efficient strategy was established for the construction of RC-529 and its derivatives. Four conjugates of RC-529 derivatives with Tn antigen were synthesized and all elicited strong and T cell-dependent immune responses in mice without requiring external adjuvants. In addition, all antisera induced by these conjugates could specifically recognize, bind to and kill Tn-overexpressing cancer cells. Thus, RC-529 shows promise as a useful platform for the development of new vaccine carriers with self-adjuvanting properties for the treatment of cancer. Moreover, preliminary structure-activity relationship analysis provides convincing support for further optimization of, and additional investigation into, RC-529.  相似文献
