We studied the effect of hydrogen in yttrium nanoparticles on a quartz substrate, using optical spectroscopy and electrical resistance measurements. Pulsed laser deposition is used to obtain the Y clusters in an UHV environment. We show, that these clusters are highly sensitive to monoatomic H1 produced from ambient hydrogen gas pressures, ranging from 10-5 to 50 mbar with our experimental arrangement. The changes of optical and electrical properties due to the chemical reaction within the particles are sufficient to consider this material as a possible sensor for low concentrations of hydrogen. The behavior of the bulk two-point correlation function G(;T| d ) in d-dimensional system with van der Waals type interactions is investigated and its consequences on the finite-size scaling properties of the susceptibility in such finite systems with periodic boundary conditions is discussed within mean-spherical model which is an example of Ornstein and Zernike type theory. The interaction is supposed to decay at large distances r as r - (d + σ), with 2 < d < 4, 2 < σ < 4 and d + σ≤6. It is shown that G(;T| d ) decays as r - (d - 2) for 1 ≪r≪ξ, exponentially for ξ≪rr *, where r * = (σ - 2)ξlnξ, and again in a power law as r - (d + σ) for rr *. The analytical form of the leading-order scaling function of G(;T| d ) in any of these regimes is derived. Received 28 May 2001  相似文献

The microscopic details of the electron transfer in cytochrome c (cyt c) are being investigated by the Muon Spin Relaxation (μSR) technique. We are using the Hartree–Fock Cluster Procedure to determine the most likely trapping sites for μ+ and muonium (Mu) in the protein chain, and have performed extensive calculations in single amino acid molecules of the protein chain of cyt c. The double-bonded oxygen atom of the carboxyl group was identified as the trapping site for both μ+ and Mu. Utilizing the wave functions we obtained from the Hartree–Fock calculations, we have determined the hyperfine field that the μ+ in Mu experiences while the latter is trapped at the oxygen. Thermionic emission from hot fullerene anions, CN -, has been measured in an electrostatic storage ring for even N values from 36 to 96. The decay is quenched by radiative cooling and hence the observations give information on the intensity of thermal radiation from fullerenes. The experiments are analysed by comparison with a simulation which includes the quantisation of photon energy and the statistics of emission. Experiments with heating of the molecules with a laser beam confirm the interpretation of the observations in terms of radiative cooling and give an independent estimate of the cooling rate for C60 -. The measured cooling rates agree in general within a factor of two with the prediction from a classical dielectric model of a thermal radiation intensity of ∼ 300 eV/s for C60 at 1 400 K, scaling approximately with the 6th power of the temperature and with the number of atoms in the molecule. In this study, poly(methyl methacrylate)-grafted-nanosilica (PMMA-g-silica) and a copolymer of styrene (St), n-butyl acrylate (BA) and acrylic acid (AA)-grafted-nanosilica (PSBA-g-silica) hybrid nanoparticles were prepared by using a heterophase polymerization technique in an aqueous system. The grafted polymers made up approximately 50 wt.% of the resulted hybrid nanoparticles which showed a spherical and well-dispersed morphology. The silica hybrid nanoparticles were subsequently used as fillers in a poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) matrix to fabricate PVC nanocomposite. Morphology study of PVC nanocomposites revealed that both PMMA- and PSBA-grafted-silica had an adhesive interface between the silica and PVC. The tensile strength and elongation to break were found to be improved significantly in comparison with that of untreated nanosilica/PVC composites. Finally our results clearly demonstrated that the properties (e.g. chain flexibility, composition) of the grafted polymer in the hybrid nanoparticles could significantly affect the dispersion behavior of hybrid nanoparticles in PVC matrix, dynamic mechanical thermal properties and mechanical properties of the resulted PVC composites.  相似文献

Polycrystalline ferrites with general formula Co0.5CdxFe2.5−xO4 (0.0?x?0.5) were prepared by sol-gel method. The dielectric properties ε′, ε″, loss tangent tan δ and ac conductivity σac have been studied as a function of frequency, temperature and composition. The experimental results indicate that ε′, ε″, tan δ and σac decrease as the frequency increases; whereas they increase as the temperature increases. These parameters are found to increase by increasing the concentration of Cd content up to x=0.2, after which they start to decrease with further increase in concentration of Cd ion. The dielectric properties and ac conductivity in studied samples have been explained on the basis of space charge polarization according to Maxwell and Wagner's two-layer model and the hoping between adjacent Fe2+ and Fe3+ as well as the hole hopping between Co3+and Co2+ ions at B-sites. The values of activation energies Ef for conduction process are determined from Arrhenius plots, and the variations in these activation energies as a function of Cd content are discussed. The complex impedance analysis is used to separate the grain and grain boundary of the system Co0.5CdxFe2.5−xO4. The variations of both grain boundary and grain resistances with temperature and composition are evaluated in the frequency range 42 Hz-5 MHz.  相似文献

The effects of sintering temperature and Bi2O3 content on the microstructure and magnetic properties of lithium–zinc (LiZn) ferrites prepared by a conventional ceramic method were investigated. The results show that the densification behavior and grain growth rate were greatly improved by the addition of Bi2O3, because a liquid phase sintering occurred during the sintering process at high temperature due to the low-melting point of Bi2O3 (825 °C). X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the slightly doped samples did not reveal the appearance of any phase other than spinel LiZn ferrite. However, the secondary phase of perovskite BiFeO3 was detected for Bi2O3 content of more than 0.25 wt%. The studies further show that Bi oxide was present at grain boundary, and promoted the grain growth as reaction center at lower temperature. A high saturation magnetization, squareness ratio, minimum ferromagnetic resonance linewidth and low coercive force were obtained for the sample with 1.00 wt% Bi2O additive at lower sintering temperature (1100 °C).  相似文献

The effects of substrate temperature upon the optical property, composition and surface morphology have been investigated on nominally undoped Zn1−xMgxTe layers grown on (1 0 0) ZnTe substrates by atmospheric pressure metal organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE). It was found that Mg composition increases with decreasing substrate temperature. The result of low temperature photoluminescence (PL) measurement suggests that the optical quality of Zn1−xMgxTe layers becomes better with decreasing substrate temperature. On the other hand, there is a narrow range of optimal substrate temperature for a smooth surface morphology. For all the layers, a two-mode behavior with ZnTe- and MgTe-like longitudinal optical phonon modes was confirmed by Raman scattering.  相似文献

Collective magnetic behavior of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles with diameters of 76, 16, 15 and 8 nm, respectively, prepared by different chemical methods has been investigated. Particle composition, size and structure have been characterized by inductive coupled plasma (ICP), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Basic magnetic properties have been determined from the temperature dependence of magnetization and magnetization isotherms measurements. The three samples exhibit characteristic of a superparamagnetic system with the presence of strong interparticle interactions. Magnetic relaxation phenomena have been examined via frequency-dependent ac susceptibility measurements and aging and memory effect experiments. For the particles coated with oleic acid, it has been demonstrated that the sample reveals all attributes of a super-spin glass (SSG) system with strong interparticle interactions.  相似文献

The Fe63B23Nd7Y3Nb3Cr1 nanocomposite magnets in the form of sheets have been prepared by copper mold casting technique. The phase evolution, crystal structure, microstructural and magnetic properties have been investigated in the as-cast and annealed states. The as-cast sheets show magnetically soft behaviors which become magnetically hard by thermal annealing. The optimal annealed microstructure was composed of nanosize soft magnetic α-Fe (19-29 nm) and hard magnetic Nd2Fe14B (45-55 nm) grains. The best hard magnetic properties such as intrinsic coercivity, jHc of 1119 kA/m, remanence, Br of 0.44 T, magnetic induction to saturation magnetization ratio, Mr/Ms=0.61 and maximum energy product, (BH)max of 55 kJ/m3 was obtained after annealing at 680 °C for 15 min. The annealing treatment above 680 °C results in non-ideal phase grains growth, which degrade the magnetic properties.  相似文献
