High power 1.3414 μm Nd:YAP cw laser

The eigen-oscillation mode of the Nd:YAP cw laser has been analysed. The influence of thermal effects arising from the pumping process on the output character of the 1.3414 μm Nd:YAP cw laser has been discussed. The crack problem of the reflective film at a 1.34 μm dielectric mirror has been solved. Based on the aforementioned work, we have been able to achieve an 82.8 W laser output at 1.3414 μm with a nearly polarized beam from a 5.8 mm diameter by 111 mm Nd:YAP rod. The overall efficiency and the slope efficiency are 1.15% and 2.02% respectively, and the fluctuation of the output power at 62 W is less than 1% during continuous operation for 45 min.     

半导体激光器的超高频调制

本文从理论上分析了半导体激光器的超高频调制特性和脉动电流引起的张弛振荡现象。分析了国产DHGaAlAs半导体激光器调制过程中出现的一些问题。实验证明,采用微带匹配技术,可使这类激光器的调制频率达1.3GHz。     

Tuning ranges of an injection-locked excimer laser

The advantages and the practical limitations of injection locking are discussed. Experimental results for a system working in the regime between ideal injection locking and regenerative amplification are presented.     

Comparison of characteristics of an x-ray preionized XeCl laser, pumped by water transmission line and low inductance capacitor bank

With a high uniformity of x-ray preionization, a long pulse duration and a high specific energy (9 J l^-1), an XeCl excimer laser output has been obtained by using a compact low inductance capacitor bank as the laser excitation circuit. The superior features of the low inductance capacitor bank (LICB) compared to the water transmission line (WTL) are attractive for repetitively pulsed XeCl excimer lasers.     

All optical switching in semiconductor microresonators based on pattern selection

We present here a method for selecting optical patterns in a passive semiconductor microresonator, by using a spatial perturbation. A pattern is spontaneously generated in the system, and a switching beam causes this pattern to rotate even if the power in the switching beam is much lower than the power in the pattern. Thus, an all optical switch is realized, that operates at low light levels.     

A new mixed birefringent filter

Birefringent filters can be used for tuning lasers, with some advantages over prisms, gratings and tilted etalons. In this paper the transmission characteristics of a new mixed birefringent filter are investigated. The term ‘mixed’ is used because both circular birefringence and linear birefringence have been utilized in the fabrication of this filter.It has a loss-less core, formed by a cascaded system of alternate rotators and retarders, and a linear polarizer at each end. The performance of this filter is better because of the more effective suppression of side peaks. Unlike previous birefringent filters, this one may be used inside a linear resonator.     

Temperature distribution along oversized hollow-core waveguides for CO2 laser radiation

Temperature distributions along various hollow waveguides are fully analysed experimentally when the waveguides are excited by CO₂ laser light. It is shown that the temperature decreases in an oscillatory manner along the waveguides due to the interference effect of guided modes. The distributors are well explained by a theory developed previously.     

Phase signatures in laser-assisted electron-atom collisions

We study electron-atom scattering in the presence of a laser field with elliptic polarization. We discuss the dependence of the differential cross sections for the cases of circular and linear polarizations as a function of scattering angle. Interesting typical signatures of the phase between the two components of the circular polarization of the laser field appear in the differential cross section.     

Dye-laser-pumped Nd:GdCOB Self-frequency-doubling Laser

Nd:Ca4GDO(BO3)3, abbreviated as Nd:GdCOB, is a new multifunctional material for self-frequency-doubling green lasers. By using datachroom-5000 pulsed dye-laser as pumping source, we have achieved green laser output at 530.2 nm from a Nd:GdCOB crystal (7 mol-% Nd3+) uncoated HT film for 1.06 μm and 0.53 μm. The threshold energy is lower than 1.2 mJ. When the pumping energy is 17.5 mJ, the output energy of the green laser is 1.35 mJ and the corresponding conversion efficiency is 7.7%.     

微微秒叶绿素染料激光器的研究

本文报道用一台对撞脉冲锁模Nd:YAG激光器的三倍频光作为泵浦光源,采用超短腔结构,获得叶绿素的红色ps脉冲激光输出的装置和实验结果。研究了叶绿素a和b在各种聚合状态下输出激光波长随染料浓度的变化关系,当叶绿素a-乙醇溶液浓度为2×10~(-3)M,激光腔长<36μm时可获得单模调谐ps系列脉冲输出,激光束的发散角≈60mrad。
