H2O−D2O solvent isotope effect in the volume behavior of some high-charge high-size electrolytes

The apparent molar volumes V of KCl, BaCl₂, K₂SO₄, LaCl₃, Co(en)₃Cl₃ [Tris(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III) chloride], K₃Co(CN)₆, K₃Fe(CN)₆, K₄Fe(CN)₆, and Ba₃[Co(CN)₆]₂ have been determined at 25°C in both light and heavy water. The V values in D₂O are systematically lower and increase more rapidly with salt concentration than the V in H₂O. The volume of transfer from H₂O to D₂O as well as the partial molar volume at infinite dilution in both solvents have also been calculated. These results together with literature values for other electrolytes were used to estimate both of these quantities for D₂O solutions of individual ions. The predictions of ion hydration models and ion-ion interactions are compared with experimental observations.     

Analysis of nitro-PAHs in diesel exhaust particulate extracts with multicolumn HPLC

Summary A method is described for the determination of nitrated polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (nitro-PAHs), in particular 1-nitropyrene, in diesel particulate extracts. The method employs a multidimensional HPLC (column switching) technique with final on-line peak identification by UV-VIS spectral comparison with standards. To achieve exceptional chromatographic selectivity for nitro-PAHs, a new pyrene butyric acid amide phase has been prepared which is capable of forming donor-acceptor complexes with them. With this technique it is possible to confirm the presence of 1-nitropyrene in the range 3–100 ng/mg on filter-collected diesel soot. Its utility was demonstrated with diesel exhaust extracts spiked with varying levels of 1-nitropyrene and proved to be highly selective.Parts of this work have been presented at the 15th International Symposium on Chromatography, Nürnberg, October 1984.Dedicated to Prof. J. Melting behavior of nylon 6 fiber in textiles

The melting process of constrained nylon 6 fibers has been studied to estimate the true melting point of its original crystals. The melting peak became simpler in shape and shifted to higher temperature with increasing fiber-axis restricting force. When heating rate, β, was increased, the temperature where the melting curve initially departs from its baseline, Tsm, decreased steeply in the range of 45 to 60°C min^-1, and increased linearly with increasing β above 60°C min^-1. By linear extrapolation of Tsm to 0°C min^-1, the temperature of ca 190°C was obtained for the melting temperature of the original nylon 6 crystals. This seems to correspond to the zero-entropy-production melting of the most imperfect crystallites of the nylon 6 fabric. 6-氨基青霉烷酸在弱碱性阴离子树脂IRA67上的吸附研究

用静态法研究了6-氨基青霉烷酸在弱碱性阴离子交换树脂IRA67上的吸附行为．在溶液pH为8．0，6-APA起始浓度介子3.00mg／m1-20．00mg／ml条件下，测定了25℃时IRA67树脂的静态交换动力学曲线、吸附等温线，并求得了IRA67树脂的平衡速率常数及吸附等温线方程．分别用Langmuir型和Frendlich型方程对IRA67树脂吸附等温线进行线性回归拟合，结果表明，6-APA在IRA67树脂上的吸附更符合Langmuir型吸附．     

Scaling Function Between the Exponential-6 and the Generalized Lennard-Jones Potential Functions

The van der Waals forces for non-bonded interaction can be expressed either by the Exponential-6 or by the Lennard-Jones(m-n) potential functions, whereby m > n. Hitherto a relationship exists between the Exponential-6 and the Lennard-Jones(12-6) potential functions, with a scaling factor = 13.772 at or near the equilibrium and = 12.0 for long range interaction. This paper attempts to develop relationships between Exponential-6 and a more generalized Lennard-Jones(m-n). Analysis reveals that the relationship exists only when n = 6 and that two sets of scaling factors (as functions of index m) applies for the relationship between Exponential-6 and the Lennard-Jones(m-6), whereby m > 6.     

Hydration of complexes of 18-crown-6 with potassium nitrate or potassium picrate in the polymer phase

Adsorption of water vapor by granular polymer based on dibenzo-18-crown-6 and containing potassium nitrate or potassium picrate in the polymer phase was studied by the isopiestic method at 298 K. The adsorption of water vapor is described by isotherms corresponding (according to BDDT classification) to polymolecular absorption with a high adsorptive potential. In terms of the Aranovich model of polymolecular absorption, the monolayer capacity and differential heat of adsorption were calculated, and the stoichiometry of hydration of the potassium nitrate and potassium picrate complexes with immobilized crown ether was estimated. 前驱体水解对纳米铂形状控制合成的影响

以聚丙烯酸钠(NaPA: M_w ≈ 2100)为保护剂，对比研究了H_2还原K_2PtCl_4 和K_2PtCl_6水溶液制备纳米铂晶粒的形状选择性，揭示了前驱体的水解对纳米铂 晶粒的形状控制合成具有显著影响。文献中通常采用的合成立方形状纳米铂的 K_2PtCl_4前驱体在水溶液中不稳定，避光静置一周会析出黑色沉淀。这种不稳定 性导致了以K_2PtCl_4为Pt前驱体的合成结果难以重复。相比而言，避光静墨的 K_2PtCl_6水溶液很稳定，以它为前驱体合成的纳米铂通常为削角八面体。 K_2PtCl_6水溶液暴露于室内光线中会出现[PtCl_6]~(-2)的光致水解。当[PtCl_6] ~(2-)的紫外特征吸收峰(260nm)由于光致水解完全消失后，以聚丙烯酸钠为保护剂 ，通过H_2还原可以有选择性地(约80%)合成由{100}晶面包裹的立方体形状的纳米 铂。     

3β-Methoxyolean-18-ene (miliacin) from the marine fungus Chaetomium olivaceum

A pentacyclic tritepenoid, 3-methoxyolean-18-ene (miliacin), was isolated for the first time from the marine fungus Chaetomium olivaceum. Its structure was determined on the basis of 2D NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction data.

Halfsandwich Complexes of Chromium with the Trifluoromethyl Isocyanide Ligand The synthesis and properties of the halfsandwich complexes [η⁶-1,3,5-C₆H₃(CH₃)₃]Cr(CO)₂(CNCF₃), [η⁶-1,3,5-C₆H₃(CH₃)₃]Cr(CO)(CNCH₃)(CNCF₃) und [η⁶-1,3,5-C₆H₃(CH₃)₃]Cr(CNCF₃)₃ is reported. The vibrational spectroscopic data proof the strong π accepting character of the trifluoromethyl isocyanide ligand.
