We studied the affection of thin (i.e., 0.2–0.8 nm) Ni films on hydrogen-terminated Si(1 1 1) substrate surface by using strain-sensitive X-ray diffraction. It was reported that Ni deposition onto hydrogen-terminated Si surface apparently does not cause film growth, but rather diffuses into the Si crystal, creating an “Ni diffusion layer” up to Ni deposition 0.8 nm thick. Measured rocking curves of the Si 1 1 3 reflection and integrated intensities of the rocking curves for the substrate provide information about the evolution of the strain field introduced near the substrate surface during Ni diffusion into the substrate. Comparing the measured and calculated rocking curves indicates that compression of the {1 1 1} spacing of the Si occurs gradually up to an Ni thickness of 0.6 nm, and that above this thickness, strain relaxation occurs.

We found that the slope of the integrated intensity of the rocking curve versus X-ray wavelength correlates to the strain field near the surface, in the same way that the shape of the rocking curves correlate to the strain field near the surface. Dynamical diffraction calculations indicate that measurement of the slope of the integrated intensity of the rocking curve versus X-ray wavelength is useful for strain analysis, because the dependence is not only sensitive to strain fields, but is also insensitive to the effect of absorption by the overlayer, which otherwise would cause deformation of the shape of the rocking curve.  相似文献

The relationship between vocal fold strain and vocal pitch in singersand nonsingers singing a rising pitch series has been indirectly investigated by means of lateral radiographs. Nonsingers tend to exhibit more strain than singers. To standardize the degree of strain, an index of strain per semitone is proposed. The semitone strain indicates the average amount of strain per 1 semitone of pitch increase or decrease. The index has been shown to be affected by several factors: gender, singing training, singing technique, voice class, age, and status of muscle function. Observations suggest that similar groups of individuals occupy different positions on the stress-strain curve, indicated by their semitone strain values.  相似文献

X-ray photoelectron diffraction (XPD) measurements have demonstrated that Ni ultrathin films on Pt(111) exhibit a single domain fcc stacking pseudomorphic to the substrate, with a consequent trigonal distortion of the Ni unit cell in order to accommodate the in-plane expansion of the Ni lattice parameter of about 11% with respect to its bulk value. We show that the amount of interlayer contraction and the strain energy resulting form the trigonal distortion are very well predicted by a strain analysis in the framework of simple linear elasticity theory. Strain analysis also allows to discuss in some detail the controversial case of Co growth on the same substrate. Finally, we discuss the dependence of the strain energy of the overlayer on the substrate crystal orientation and its effects on chemisorption experiments performed on heteroepitaxial monolayers (HML).  相似文献

A theory of strain-crystallization of random networks comprised of stereoregular chains is developed. The crosslinks are assumed to be expelled from crystal cores. For this reason, the rubber is considered to be represented as a random eutectoid copolymer, the thermodynamics of strain crystallisation of which is described by the use of the van der Waals model of networks. The strain dependence of the maximum melting temperatures, the degree of crystallinity and the average thickness of the crystallites calculated are shown to be in fair accord with experimental data.Dedicated Prof. Dr. R. Based on density functional theory calculations, we predict the stability and electronic structures of single-walled indium nitride (InN) nanotubes. Compared with other group III-nitride nanotubes with a similar diameter, strain energies of InN nanotubes relative to their graphitic sheet are the lowest, suggesting the possibility of the formation of InN nanotubes. Considering the stability of a graphitic InN sheet, InN nanotubes are in metastable states with the stability between GaN nanotubes and AlN nanotubes. Contrary to the case of carbon nanotubes and BN nanotubes, the bond-length of both horizontal and vertical In–N bonds in InN nanotubes decreases as the tube diameter increases. InN nanotubes are all semiconductors with an almost constant band gap of about 1 eV. The existence of a direct gap in zigzag InN nanotubes and the small band gap indicate that they may have potential applications in light emitting devices and solar cells.  相似文献

Stress in coatings originating from a mechanical load imposed during exploitation is a relatively unexplored field of investigation. Paradoxically, a number of constructions and installations seem to operate under such conditions. The purpose of this work was to investigate the impact of a cyclic mechanical load exerted on coating/metal systems. It was the authors aim to verify whether repeated mechanical stress constitutes a significant factor contributing to coating degradation. Epoxy coated St3SAl steel samples were subjected to 21,000 uniaxial strain/release cycles. The maximum force applied assured maintenance within the elastic deformation region of the metal substrate. The state of the protective film was monitored using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The coating response to the mechanical load occurred in a three-stage process. The strain induced crystallization behaviour in polyimide from 1,4-bis (3', 4'- dicarboxyphenoxy)benzene and 4,4'-oxydianiline (PEI-E)has been investigated by WAXD, DSC and FTIR. The results obtained show that crystallization in PEI-E did take place just after tensile yielding. Meanwhile, the effect of strain induced crystallization on the thermomechanical properties was studied by DMA and TMA, the results of which indicate that the crystallization and hot stretching have a certain influence on the dynamic mechanical properties, such as weakening the βrelaxation and decreasing the glass transition temperature. The TMA results confirm the shifting of glass transition temperature to lower temperature region after hot stretching. This phenomenon could be well explained by the effect of residual stress according to Eyring's theory.  相似文献

Twenty fungi, which all formed a clear zone around the colony on a poly(ethylene succinate) (PESu)-containing medium, were isolated from various environmental samples. Mesophilic strain NKCM1003, with the highest PESu hydrolytic activity among all the isolates, degraded a PESu film at the rate of 21 ± 2 μg/cm2/h when it was aerobically incubated at 30 °C on a medium containing PESu as the sole carbon source. SEM observations showed that the strain gradually degraded the film starting from the amorphous regions of the surface. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the strain was closely related to the species Aspergillus clavatus. Zymogram analysis suggested that the secreted enzyme with PESu hydrolytic activity is a P(3HB) depolymerase. The strain also utilized the enzymatic products of PESu, permitting it to grow well. These results indicate that the strain NKCM1003 plays an important role in the PESu-degrading process in the field.  相似文献

Fourteen structures of C20 are studied at DFT/B3LYP/6-31G* theoretical level. Except ring, bowl, cage and isomer 1 which have been studied before, other isomers have not been reported so far. Calculated results show that the ring has the lowest energy at this level and isomers 1, 2, 3 and 4 have lower energies than that of cage. Analyses of optimized bond lengths, electronic structure indicate that some carbon atoms express super-valence property. In addition, NICS value is consistent with molecular orbital character in denoting aromaticity of C20 molecule. Delocalization character averts influence of curvature strain, which can well explain the stability of the cage.  相似文献
