In the present study, an attempt has been made to model and analyze a combined footing supporting column, which is to be constructed on very soft soil. In view of small bearing capacity and very large deflections, foundations are constructed after improving the original ground. Here, the ground has been improved by providing the stone columns in the soft soil and on top of this improved ground; a granular fill layer has been placed just below the footing. The footing has been modeled as a beam having finite flexural rigidity. Granular fill layer, soft soil and stone columns have been represented by Pasternak shear layer, Kelvin–Voigt body and the Winkler springs, respectively. Nonlinear behavior of these has been considered by means of hyperbolic constitutive relationships. Governing differential equations for response of the system have been derived and presented in non-dimensional form. These equations have been solved using appropriate boundary conditions by means of an iterative Gauss Elimination technique.  相似文献

The geometry, electronic structure, and catalytic properties for CO oxidation of Pt atom supported on pri-graphene (PG), Haeckelite (H), and Stone–Wales-defect-graphene are investigated by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. In contrast to a Pt atom on PG, defective graphene, especially the Haeckelite, strongly stabilises the Pt atom and makes it more positive and thus the CO poisoning. At the same time the catalytic activities are as high as the pristine one. Langmuir–Hinshelwood mechanisms are favoured as the starting state and are followed by the Eley–Rideal reaction. The results indicate the benefit of Haeckelite as a substrate for the Pt atom and validate the reactivity of catalysts on the atomic scale with low cost and high activity.  相似文献

In conventional generalization of the main results of classical measure theory to Stone algebra valued measures, the values that measures and functions can take are Booleanized, while the classical notion of a σ-field is retained. The main purpose of this paper is to show by abundace of illustrations that if we agree to Booleanize the notion of a σ-field as well, then all the glorious legacy of classical measure theory is preserved completely. The central purpose of this paper is to present a survey of the extrinsic and intrinsic factors which influence the durability of masonry. In approaching this subject other themes are developed; in particular a study is made of the damage due to the volume changes which accompany all biological, physical and chemical changes. Light can be thrown on the corrosion of stone from a knowledge of the weathering of rocks throughout geological time, and this aspect is explored in the opening section of the paper. The final part of the paper consists of a study of the stresses and cracking of stone which can result from the expansive rusting of iron or steel reinforcements. Although mechanical damage dominates the discussion, some comments are made on the staining and dissolution of stone and examples are illustrated.
Sommario Scopo del presente articolo e'presentare una rassegna dei fattori intrinseci ed estrinseci che influenzano la durabilita' della muratura. All'interno di tale rassegna si sviluppano altri temi, ed in particolare uno studio sui danni provocati dai cambiamenti di volume che accompagnano le modificatzioni biologiche, fisiche, chimiche. Nella prima parte dell'articolo ci si sofferma sulle modificazioni degli ammassi rocciosi durante le ere geologiche, e sul nesso tra i dati desunti da tale analisi e il problema della corroasione della pietra. La parte finale dell'articolo e'invece dedicata ad uno studio degli stati tensionali e fessurativi risultanti dall'espansione legata alla corrosione di elementi metallici di rinforzo posti all'interno della muratura. Benche' il danno strutturale sia l'argomento centrale della discussione, vengono anche presi in considerazione i problemi conness alla dissoluzione e alla comparsa di macchie, e si illustrano alcuni.

We construct a counterexample to Solel's [B. Solel, Contractive projections onto bimodules of von Neumann algebras, J. London Math. Soc. 45 (2) (1992) 169–179] conjecture that the range of any contractive, idempotent, MASA bimodule map on is necessarily a ternary subalgebra. Our construction reduces this problem to an analogous problem about the ranges of idempotent maps that are equivariant with respect to a group action. Such maps are important to understand Hamana's theory [M. Hamana, Injective envelopes of C*-dynamical systems, Tohoku Math. J. 37 (1985) 463–487] of G-injective operator spaces and G-injective envelopes.  相似文献

The goal of this article is to study finite groups admitting a pseudocomplemented subgroup lattice (PK-groups) or a pseudocomplemented normal subgroup lattice (PKN-groups). In particular, we obtain a complete classification of finite PK-groups and of finite nilpotent PKN-groups. We also study groups with a Stone normal subgroup lattice, and we classify finite groups for which every subgroup has a Stone normal subgroup lattice. Finally, we obtain a complete classification of finite groups for which every subgroup is monolithic.  相似文献

The Central Sets Theorem was introduced by H. Furstenberg and then afterwards several mathematicians have provided various versions and extensions of this theorem. All of these theorems deal with central sets, and its origin from the algebra of Stone–?ech compactification of arbitrary semigroup, say βS. It can be proved that every closed subsemigroup of βS is generated by a filter. We will show that, under some restrictions, one can derive the Central Sets Theorem for any closed subsemigroup of βS. We will derive this theorem using the corresponding filter and its algebra. Later we will also deal with how the notions of largeness along filters are preserved under some well behaved homomorphisms and give some consequences.  相似文献
