Global smooth solutions to the multi-dimensional hydrodynamic model for two-carrier plasmas

The existence of global smooth solutions to the multi-dimensional hydrodynamic model for plasmas of electrons and positively charged ions is shown under the assumption that the initial densities are close to a constant. The model consists of the conservation laws for the particle densities and the current densities, coupled to the Poisson equation for the electrostatic potential. Furthermore, it is proved that the particle densities converge exponentially fast to the (constant) steady state. The proof uses a higher-order energy method inspired from extended thermodynamics.     

Assessment of some iterative methods for non-symmetric linear systems arising in computational fluid dynamics

Various tests have been carried out in order to compare the performances of several methods used to solve the non-symmetric linear systems of equations arising from implicit discretizations of CFD problems, namely the scalar advection-diffusion equation and the compressible Euler equations. The iterative schemes under consideration belong to three families of algorithms: relaxation (Jacobi and Gauss-Seidel), gradient and Newton methods. Two gradient methods have been selected: a Krylov subspace iteration method (GMRES) and a non-symmetric extension of the conjugate gradient method (CGS). Finally, a quasi-Newton method has also been considered (Broyden). The aim of this paper is to provide indications of which appears to be the most adequate method according to the particular circumstances as well as to discuss the implementation aspects of each scheme.     

Electromagnetic properties of strange baryons in a relativistic quark model

We present some of our results for the electromagnetic properties of excited Σ hyperons, computed within the framework of the Bonn constituent-quark model, which is based on the Bethe-Salpeter approach. The seven parameters entering the model are fitted against the best-known baryon masses. Accordingly, the results for the form factors and helicity amplitudes are genuine predictions. We compare with the scarce experimental data available and discuss the processes in which Σ ^*'s may play an important role.

在3?3?.4MeV/u ¹⁷N束轰击¹⁹⁷Au靶产生的反应中,利用放置于不同角度组合的17个中子探测器(4°—83°)和14个半导体望远镜(2.3°—9.0°)对反应产物碎片与中子进行了符合测量.经对所得实验角分布积分得到Z=3—6元素的同位素产额分布.在参加者-旁观者模型框架下,采用¹⁷N原子核内部的不同密度分布计算了同位素产额分布并与实验数据做比较.     

Estimating market shares in each market segment using the information entropy concept

Sales data of a certain product for the various competitors are usually available at the aggregate level. However these data give no clue to the heterogeneities in the sales pattern across different market segments. Heterogeneities are caused by different purchasing behavior in each market segment; as a purchaser in a segment will be attracted to the attributes of the product most important to that segment. This concept can be formalized via a simple attraction model that utilizes an elasticity measure for each quality or price attribute [G.S. Carpenter, L.G. Cooper, D.M. Hanssens, D.F. Midgley, Modeling asymmetric competition, Marketing Science 7 (4) (1998) 393–412]. Assessment of these elasticities is not difficult since customer response – in each market segment – to perception of quality and price is tracked by most firms [J. Ross, D. Georgoff, A survey of productive and quality issues in manufacturing. The state of the industry, Industrial Management 3 (5) (1991) 22–25]. This paper attempts to formulate a generic framework based on the information entropy concept that utilizes such an attraction model to estimate competitors’ sales in each market segment.     

On the blow-up rate of large solutions for a porous media logistic equation on radial domain

In this paper we establish the exact blow-up rate of the large solutions of a porous media logistic equation. We consider the carrying capacity function with a general decay rate at the boundary instead of the usual cases when it can be approximated by a distant function. Obtaining the accurate blow-up rate allows us to establish the uniqueness result. Our result covers all previous results on the ball domain and can be further adapted in a more general domain.     

Fuzzy Model of Regional Economic Competitiveness in GIS Spatial Analysis: Case Study of Gansu, Western China

After more than 20 years of impressive development since the economic reforms in 1978, today western China is facing an increasing development gap between its regions, particularly between urban and rural areas. Using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model, this paper aims to demonstrate the evolution of the economic competitiveness levels base on two categories of geographical unity in the province of Gansu located in Northwest China between 2000 and 2004. The results of fuzzy modeling are integrated into GIS spatiotemporal analyses in order to identify the spatial variation of each significant change in terms of the regional economic development. Our research effectively illustrates that there is a particular spatial dynamic of the economic development from region to region. Although the cities have improved very well in their economic competitiveness, the rural areas and minority regions still have a lot of progress to be achieved.

中高温工质在蒸发器中的换热模拟分析

本文采用分布参数的方法,建立了水源热泵中普遍采用的壳管式蒸发器稳态数学模型.通过中高温水源热泵试验台的实验数据同模拟计算结果的对比,验证了数学模型的准确性。应用此数学模型对中高温工质HTR01、HTR02及R134a在蒸发器典型制热运行工况,进行了模拟计算。得出了三种工质制冷剂侧换热系数沿管长的变化关系并对三种工质的换热性能进行了对比分析,为采用中高温工质的水源热泵换热器设计提供了参考依据.
