The results of the Young experiment can be analyzed either by classical or Quantum Physics. The later one though leads to a more complete interpretation, based on two different patterns that appear when one works either with single or double slits. Here we show that the two patterns can be derived from a single principle, in the context of General Relativity, if one assumes an additional spatial dimension to the four known today. The found equations yield the same results as those in Quantum Mechanics.  相似文献

In this paper we extend our previous results on resolving conically singular Calabi–Yau 3-folds (Chan, Quart. J. Math. 57:151–181, 2006; Quart. J. Math., to appear) to include the desingularizations of special Lagrangian (SL) 3-folds with conical singularities that occur at the same points of the ambient Calabi–Yau. The gluing construction of the SL 3-folds is achieved by applying Joyce’s analytic result (Joyce, Ann. Global. Anal. Geom. 26: 1–58, 2004, Thm. 5.3) on deforming Lagrangian submanifolds to nearby special Lagrangian submanifolds. Our result will in principle be able to construct more examples of compact SL submanifolds in compact Calabi–Yau manifolds. Various explicit examples and applications illustrating the result in this paper can be found in the sequel (Chan, Ann. Global. Anal. Geom., to appear).  相似文献

We present new formulae (the Slevinsky–Safouhi formulae I and II) for the analytical development of higher order derivatives. These formulae, which are analytic and exact, represent the kth derivative as a discrete sum of only k+1 terms. Involved in the expression for the kth derivative are coefficients of the terms in the summation. These coefficients can be computed recursively and they are not subject to any computational instability. As examples of applications, we develop higher order derivatives of Legendre functions, Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind, Hermite functions and Bessel functions. We also show the general classes of functions to which our new formula is applicable and show how our formula can be applied to certain classes of differential equations. We also presented an application of the formulae of higher order derivatives combined with extrapolation methods in the numerical integration of spherical Bessel integral functions.  相似文献

This paper studies the possibility to calculate efficiently compounds of real matrices which have a special form or structure. The usefulness of such an effort lies in the fact that the computation of compound matrices, which is generally noneffective due to its high complexity, is encountered in several applications. A new approach for computing the Singular Value Decompositions (SVD’s) of the compounds of a matrix is proposed by establishing the equality (up to a permutation) between the compounds of the SVD of a matrix and the SVD’s of the compounds of the matrix. The superiority of the new idea over the standard method is demonstrated. Similar approaches with some limitations can be adopted for other matrix factorizations, too. Furthermore, formulas for the n − 1 compounds of Hadamard matrices are derived, which dodge the strenuous computations of the respective numerous large determinants. Finally, a combinatorial counting technique for finding the compounds of diagonal matrices is illustrated.   相似文献

In this article,we obtain a new fundamental theorems for Nikiforov-Uvarov-Suslov complex difference equation of hypergeometric type by the method of Euler integral transformation,its expression is different from Suslov’s Theorem.We also establish the adjoint equation for Nikiforov-Uvarov-Suslov difference equation of hypergeometric type on non-uniform lattices,and prove it to be a difference equation of hypergeometric type on non-uniform lattices as well.The particular solutions of the adjoint equation are then obtained.As an appliction of these particular solutions,we use them to obtain the particular solutions for the original difference equation of hypergeometric type on non-uniform lattices and other important results.  相似文献

We describe an algorithm for the numerical solution of second order linear ordinary differential equations in the high-frequency regime. It is based on the recent observation that solutions of equations of this type can be accurately represented using nonoscillatory phase functions. Unlike standard solvers for ordinary differential equations, the running time of our algorithm is independent of the frequency of oscillation of the solutions. We illustrate this and other properties of the method with several numerical experiments.  相似文献
