We describe an improved synthetic approach to access tripodal compounds with variable footprints and anchor groups. Two ruthenium(II) bipyridine tripodal complexes with three carboxylic acid groups in meta (Ru-m-COOH, 1) and para (Ru-p-COOH, 2) positions, and with large (180-250 Å2) footprints were synthesized and bound to the surface of nanostructured TiO2. The rhombohedral modification of the thiospinel, CuZr1.86(1)S4, has been synthesized by the reaction of the constituent elements in an alkali metal halide flux and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The title compound crystallizes in the rhombohedral space group (#166, a=7.3552(2) Å, c=35.832(2) Å, V=1678.76(13) Å3, Z=12, and R/wR=0.0239/0.0624). The structure is composed of close packed S layers, with a stacking order of ?ABCBCABABCACAB?·along the c axis. The Zr and Cu atoms occupy the octahedral and tetrahedral holes between S layers, respectively. Three different kinds of S-M-S layers exist in the structure: layer I has fully occupied Zr and Cu sites, layer II has fully occupied Zr sites but no Cu, and layer III has partially occupied Zr and fully occupied Cu sites. Transport and optical properties indicate that the title compound is a small band gap (1.26 eV) n-type semiconductor. 相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate a passively mode-locked fiber laser employing a fiber-based semiconductor saturable absorber (SSA) operating in transmission. Polarization rotation locked vector solitons are observed in the laser. Due to the intrinsic dynamic feature of the laser, period-doubling of these vector solitons has also been observed. Furthermore, extra spectral sidebands are formed on the optical spectrum, caused by the energy exchange between the two orthogonal polarization components of the vector solitons. By careful reduction of the pump power together with fine adjustment to the cavity birefringence, period-one state can further be obtained. Additionally, the phase noise properties of the vector soliton fiber laser have also been characterized experimentally and analytically. 相似文献

We present an optical scheme for photonic frequency up-conversion at the millimeter-wave bands based on Semiconductor Optical Amplifier. The proposed scheme modulates the bias current with the Intermediate Frequency in order to achieve frequency mixing of an incoming optical signal modulated with the Local Oscillator. Theory indicates that the proposed scheme supports data bandwidths in the tens of GHz for LO values above 10 GHz. This scheme allows for photonic integration of the considered optical devices. A laboratory demonstration of the scheme for up-conversion to the 40 GHz band, using narrow-band IF signals, showed relatively low thresholds for the optical input power and bias current level to achieve error free operation: − 14.5 dBm 100 mA for a 64-QAM signal. Spurious-Free Dynamic Range showed an acceptable performance, with a linearity about 52.5 dB·Hz2/3 for an optical input power of − 6 dBm. 相似文献

Due to some inherent limitations of electronics it cannot be possible to obtain a super fast operation (over terahertz limit) from electronic comparators. Again wavelength encoding technique has been established as an excellent one over other existing optical data encoding techniques. Semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) technologies have shown their strong potentiality of realizing many all-optical systems. In this communication the authors have proposed a new scheme of developing all-optical wavelength encoded n bit binary comparator exploiting the four-wave mixing, wavelength filtering, wavelength conversion and nonlinear polarization rotation capabilities property of nonlinear semiconductor optical amplifiers. The scheme can be used for comparing signed and unsigned optical binary data of any bit wide numbers as well. Structure, electric and dielectric studies of indium-substituted magnesium copper manganese ferrites

The structure, electric and dielectric properties of In-substituted Mg-Cu-Mn ferrites having the general formula of Mg0.9Cu0.1Mn0.1InxFe1.9−xO4 with 0.0≤x≤0.4 have been studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the samples indicated the formation of single-phase cubic spinel structure up to 0.2 and mixed phase (cubic and tetragonal phase) for samples x≥0.3. The relation of conductivity with temperature revealed a semiconductor to semimetal behavior as In+3 concentration increases. Variation in the universal exponent s with temperature indicates the presence of two hopping conduction mechanisms: the correlated barrier hopping (CHB) at low In+3 content x≤0.1 and small-polaron (SP) hopping at In+3 content x≥0.2. The variation in dielectric permittivity (ε′, ε″) with temperature at different frequencies shows a normal behavior for the studied compounds, while the variation in dielectric loss tangent with frequency at different temperatures shows abnormal behavior with more than relaxation peak. The conduction mechanism used in the present study has been discussed in the light of electron exchange between Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions and hole hopping between Mn2+ and Mn3+ ions at the octahedral B-sites. 相似文献

A theoretical procedure is presented for the study of elastic properties of the ternary alloy GaxIn1−xP. The calculations are based on the pseudopotential formalism in which local potential coupled with the virtual crystal approximation (VCA) is applied to evaluate elastic constants c11, c12 and c44, bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio for the entire range of the alloy composition x of the ternary alloy GaxIn1−xP. The effect of compositional disorder is included. Our results for parent compounds are compared to experimental and other theoretical calculations and showed generally good agreement. The inclusion of compositional disorder increases values of all elastic constants. During the present study it is found that elastic constant c11 is largely influenced by compositional disorder. 相似文献

We have demonstrated theoretically that it is possible to use the resonant coupling of exciton-polaritons in a planar microcavity and Tamm plasmons at a metal film on the surface of the structure to provide lateral spatial control of the exciton-polaritons within the cavity. The resonant coupling of the Tamm plasmons to cavity exciton-polaritons results in a triplet of hybrid plasmon–exciton-polariton modes with the lowest at a significantly lower energy than that of the unperturbed exciton-polaritons. Further, a patterned metal film on the structure surface can provide a sufficiently large lateral modulation of the excitation energy that localization of the exciton-polaritons within chosen regions of the cavity is possible. We show how the approach opens the way to a practical demonstration of polariton channels, traps, and devices, including logic gates. 相似文献
