Restricted signed permutations counted by the Schröder numbers

Gire, West, and Kremer have found ten classes of restricted permutations counted by the large Schröder numbers, no two of which are trivially Wilf-equivalent. In this paper we enumerate eleven classes of restricted signed permutations counted by the large Schröder numbers, no two of which are trivially Wilf-equivalent. We obtain five of these enumerations by elementary methods, five by displaying isomorphisms with the classical Schröder generating tree, and one by giving an isomorphism with a new Schröder generating tree. When combined with a result of Egge and a computer search, this completes the classification of restricted signed permutations counted by the large Schröder numbers in which the set of restrictions consists of two patterns of length 2 and two of length 3.     

Explicit bounds for multidimensional linear recurrences with restricted coefficients

This note employs path counting techniques to extend recent results on bounds for odd order linear recurrences to higher dimensions. The results imply optimal zero-free polydisks for multivariable power series with 0, 1 coefficients. Among the applications is a result that states that the optimal zero-free polydisk has radius approximately 1/(v+1), for large dimensions v.     

On the Ulam stability of Jensen and Jensen type mappings on restricted domains

In 1941 Hyers solved the well-known Ulam stability problem for linear mappings. In 1951 Bourgin was the second author to treat this problem for additive mappings. In 1982-1998 Rassias established the Hyers-Ulam stability of linear and nonlinear mappings. In 1983 Skof was the first author to solve the same problem on a restricted domain. In 1998 Jung investigated the Hyers-Ulam stability of more general mappings on restricted domains. In this paper we introduce additive mappings of two forms: of “Jensen” and “Jensen type,” and achieve the Ulam stability of these mappings on restricted domains. Finally, we apply our results to the asymptotic behavior of the functional equations of these types.     

On the equivalence of the BLUEs under a general linear model and its restricted and stochastically restricted models

Necessary and sufficient conditions are derived for the equalities of the best linear unbiased estimators (BLUEs) of parametric functions under a general linear model and its restricted and stochastically restricted models to hold.

Hyperkähler structures and infinite-dimensional Grassmannians

In this paper, we describe an example of a hyperkähler quotient of a Banach manifold by a Banach Lie group. Although the initial manifold is not diffeomorphic to a Hilbert manifold (not even to a manifold modelled on a reflexive Banach space), the quotient space obtained is a Hilbert manifold, which can be furthermore identified either with the cotangent space of a connected component (j∈Z), of the restricted Grassmannian or with a natural complexification of this connected component, thus proving that these two manifolds are isomorphic hyperkähler manifolds. Moreover, Kähler potentials associated with the natural complex structure of the cotangent space of and with the natural complex structure of the complexification of are computed using Kostant-Souriau's theory of prequantization.
