The application of Regge calculus, a lattice formulation of general relativity, is reviewed in the context of numerical relativity. Particular emphasis is placed on problems of current computational interest, and the strengths and weaknesses of the lattice approach are highlighted. Several new and illustrative applications are presented, including initial data for the head on collision of two black holes, and the time evolution of vacuum axisymmetric Brill waves.  相似文献

The exclusive ω electroproduction off the proton was studied in a large kinematical domain above the nucleon resonance region and for the highest possible photon virtuality (Q2) with the 5.75 GeV beam at CEBAF and the CLAS spectrometer. Cross-sections were measured up to large values of the four-momentum transfer (- t < 2.7 GeV2) to the proton. The contributions of the interference terms σ{TT} and σ{TL} to the cross-sections, as well as an analysis of the ω spin density matrix, indicate that helicity is not conserved in this process. The t-channel π0 exchange, or more generally the exchange of the associated Regge trajectory, seems to dominate the reaction γ*p↦ωp, even for Q2 as large as 5 GeV2. Contributions of handbag diagrams, related to Generalized Parton Distributions in the nucleon, are therefore difficult to extract for this process. Remarkably, the high-t behaviour of the cross-sections is nearly Q2-independent, which may be interpreted as a coupling of the photon to a point-like object in this kinematical limit.  相似文献

In quantum gravity theories, when the scattering energy is comparable to the Planck energy the Heisenberg uncertainty principle breaks down and is replaced by the minimal length uncertainty relation. In this paper, the consequences of the minimal length uncertainty relation on one-dimensional quantum scattering are studied using an approach involving a recently proposed second-order differential equation. An exact analytical expression for the tunneling probability through a locally-periodic rectangular potential barrier system is obtained. Results show that the existence of a non-zero minimal length uncertainty tends to shift the resonant tunneling energies to the positive direction. Scattering through a locally-periodic potential composed of double-rectangular potential barriers shows that the first band of resonant tunneling energies widens for minimal length cases when the double-rectangular potential barrier is symmetric but narrows down when the double-rectangular potential barrier is asymmetric. A numerical solution which exploits the use of Wronskians is used to calculate the transmission probabilities through the Pöschl–Teller well, Gaussian barrier, and double-Gaussian barrier. Results show that the probability of passage through the Pöschl–Teller well and Gaussian barrier is smaller in the minimal length cases compared to the non-minimal length case. For the double-Gaussian barrier, the probability of passage for energies that are more positive than the resonant tunneling energy is larger in the minimal length cases compared to the non-minimal length case. The approach is exact and applicable to many types of scattering potential.  相似文献

In this paper, we present analytical results for one-loop contributions to the decay processes \begin{document}$ H\rightarrow Z \nu_l\bar{\nu}_l $\end{document} (for \begin{document}$ l = e, \mu, \tau $\end{document}). The calculations are performed within the Standard Model framework in the 't Hooft-Veltman gauge. One-loop form factors are then written in terms of scalar one-loop functions in the standard notations of \begin{document}$ {\tt LoopTools}$\end{document}. As a result, one-loop decay rates for the decay channels can be evaluated numerically by using the package. Furthermore, we analyze the signals of \begin{document}$ H\rightarrow Z \nu_l\bar{\nu}_l $\end{document} via the production processes \begin{document}$ e^-e^+ \rightarrow ZH^* \rightarrow Z (H^* \rightarrow Z \nu_l\bar{\nu}_l) $\end{document}, including the initial beam polarizations at future lepton colliders. The Standard Model backgrounds, such as the processes \begin{document}$ e^-e^+ \rightarrow \nu_l\bar{\nu}_l ZZ $\end{document}, are also examined in this study. Numerical results indicate that one-loop corrections make contributions of approximately 10% to the decay rates. These are sizeable contributions and should be taken into account at future colliders. We show that the signals \begin{document}$ H\rightarrow Z\nu_l\bar{\nu}_l $\end{document} are clearly visible at the center-of-mass energy \begin{document}$ \sqrt{s}=250 $\end{document} GeV and are difficult to probe in higher-energy regions owing to the dominant backgrounds.  相似文献

Recent theoretical works have shown that matter swapping between two parallel braneworlds could occur under the influence of magnetic vector potentials. In our visible world, galactic magnetism possibly produces a huge magnetic potential. As a consequence, this Letter discusses the possibility to observe neutron disappearance into another braneworld in certain circumstances. The setup under consideration involves stored ultracold neutrons – in a vessel – which should exhibit a non-zero probability p to disappear into an invisible brane at each wall collision. An upper limit of p is assessed based on available experimental results. This value is then used to constrain the parameters of the theoretical model. Possible improvements of the experiments are discussed, including enhanced stimulated swapping by artificial means.  相似文献

We study a free scalar field theory in the framework of the Magueijo-Smolin model of the "Doubly Special Relativity" (DSR) which is a non-linear realization of the action of the Lorentz group on momentum space admitting an invariant energy cutoff. We show that unlike the standard quantum field theory, the Klein-Gordon equation obtained via Euler-Lagrange field equation and Heisenberg picture equation of motion of the field are not equivalent in this framework, at least up to the first order of the Planck length scale.  相似文献

We extract the mass spectrum of the triply heavy baryon Ωccb using the hypercentral constituent quark model. The first order correction is also added to the potential term of the Hamiltonian. The radial and orbital excited state masses are determined, and the Regge trajectories and magnetic moments for this baryon are also given.  相似文献

We initially propose a Reggeon-Pomeron exchange model to describe proton-proton elastic scattering at high energies in this short paper. A calculation for total cross section of proton-proton elastic scattering at high energies is performed without any free parameters. Our new finding from this work is that the Reggeon-Pomeron model gives a perfect fit to experimental data of the total cross section at the whole energy region where experimental data exist.  相似文献
