Excited states of the 119Xe nucleus have been studied by using in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy with the 107Ag ( 16O, p3n) 119Xe fusion-evaporation reaction at a beam energy of 85 MeV. The level scheme of 119Xe has been derived from γ-γ coincidence and γ-γ angular correlation analyses. We have, for the first time, established the
second negative-parity favored and unfavored states built on the 11/2- state, namely the yrare rotational bands in 119Xe. In contrast to the behavior of the yrast bands where the favored states are lying lower in energy, the yrare favored states
were observed to lie above the unfavored band. Such a signature inversion in 119Xe is changed to be normal at I = 12?.

Direct illumination of the tunneling gap in an ultrahigh vacuum scanning tunneling microscope with ultrashort pump-probe laser
pulses may offer ultimate spatial and temporal resolution in surface experiments. The electronic bandwidth of the tunneling
gap ( 1 THz) does not limit the time resolution. Our experiments show that multiphoton photoelectron emission from the sample limits
the application of this detection scheme at high laser fluence. However, a substrate specific pump-probe effect in the photoelectron
yield with femtosecond transients is observed on Tantalum and on GaAs(110) surfaces.

High-spin states of 117Xe were investigated by means of in-beam γ-ray spectroscopic techniques via the reaction of 28Si bombarding a 92Mo target at beam energies of 100-120 MeV. A positive-parity rotational band decaying into the yrast negative-parity band
by a series of enhanced E1 transitions was observed for the first time, implying the existence of octupole correlations in
117Xe. The B(E1) values increase with spin. The νd5/2 band was firmly established up to 27/2+ and the B(M1)/B(E2) ratios were extracted from the relative intensities of γ-rays in this band. The previously known νh11/2 and νg7/2 [413]5/2+α=−1/2 bands were confirmed and extended up to high spins and two bandcrossings are observed in the latter at ħω=0.33 and
0.44 MeV, respectively. The bandcrossings and configurations of these bands are discussed by TRS and CSM calculations. In
a γ–γ–t measurement, the 11/2− and 7/2− levels were identified as two isomers with half-lives of 59.4±20 ns and 16.5±8.0 ns, respectively.

We report the fast switching capabilities of a two-dimensional Al0.3Ga0.7As photonic crystal slab around 1.5 μm. The slab is supported by an AlOx low-index thick layer that plays the role of an efficient heat sink. By pumping at 0.8 μm in the absorption of the Al0.3Ga0.7As quantum wells, the optical response is modified in the transparency region: a 200% change in the reflectivity is obtained with a total response time of 8ps. 相似文献

We report a compact thin-disk Yb:KYW regenerative amplifier system. Two different concepts are investigated to obtain either subpicosecond pulses with up to 160 μJ or a pulse energy of 20 μJ with a pulse width of about 300 fs. The first concept uses intra-cavity group-velocity dispersion compensation with Gires–Tournois interferometer mirrors to avoid pulse stretching during amplification. The onset of nonlinear effects in this concept inhibits the generation of shorter pulse durations at this energy level. Shorter pulses can be achieved with the second concept, which is based on dispersive pulse stretching during amplification and uses pulse compression after amplification with a grating compressor. Repetition rates up to 45 kHz are demonstrated.This revised version was published online in May 2005. Experimental studies on in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy using a 12Be radioactive beam are presented. Inelastic scattering of the neutron-rich 12Be nucleus on 208Pb, 12C, and (CH2)n targets has been studied by measuring de-excitation γ-rays in coincidence with scattered particles. The level schemes and
transition probabilities are determined for low-lying excited states in 12Be. The present paper presents a brief review of the spectroscopic results, which may be associated with the N = 8 shell quenching near the drip line.

Recent work on the development of high-repetition-rate, synchronously pumped picosecond and femtosecond Optical Parametric Oscillators (OPOs) is reviewed. With KTP, BBO or LBO crystals and solid-state pumps such as cw mode-locked Ti:Sapphire, Nd:YAG or Nd:YLF lasers, the singly resonant OPOs or their nonlinear optical accessories yield pulses as short as 40 fs, average powers up to hundreds of milliwatts, and tunability from 200 nm to > 10 µm. 相似文献

Ta2O5/SiO2 and ZrO2/SiO2 high reflecting (HR) coatings are prepared by ion beam sputtering and electron beam evaporation, respectively. The laser-induced damage thresholds (LIDTs) of these samples are investigated with 2 μm femtosecond pulse lasers (80 fs, 1 kHz). It is found that the Ta2O5/SiO2 HR coating has a higher capability of laser damage resistance than the ZrO2/SiO2 HR coating in the 2 μm femtosecond regime. The scanning electron microscope results show that the damage sites of the ZrO2/SiO2 HR coating have a relatively porous structure, the loose structure of coatings will provide more sites for water molecules, and the LIDTs of HR coatings will be reduced as a result of the strong water absorption at the wavelength of 2 μm. 相似文献
