Strichartz Estimates for Non-Elliptic Schrödinger Equations on Compact Manifolds

In this note we consider the Schrödinger equation on compact manifolds equipped with possibly degenerate metrics. We prove Strichartz estimates with a loss of derivatives. The rate of loss of derivatives depends on the degeneracy of metrics. For the non-degenerate case we obtain, as an application of the main result, the same Strichartz estimates as that in the elliptic case. This extends Strichartz estimates for Riemannian metrics proved by Burq-Gérard-Tzvetkov to the non-elliptic case and improves the result by Salort for the degenerate case. We also investigate the optimality of the result for the case on 𝕊³ × 𝕊³.

Glutathione-capped core-shell structured magnetite nanoparticles: Fabrication and their nonlinear optical characteristics

Core-shell structured magnetic Fe₃O₄@glutathione composite nanoparticles were synthesized and examined using diverse methods including Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, transmission electron microscope, thermogravimetric analysis, and vibrating sample magnetometer analysis. In addition, the nonlinear optical measurements were performed by both open and closed aperture z-scan methods using an aqueous colloidal solution of the fabricated nanoparticles. The colloidal system exhibited a positive nonlinear refractive index because of the self-focusing effect arising from optical re-orientation. Although optical re-orientation is a rare phenomenon in nanocolloids, high polarizability of the enveloping organic ligands caused optical re-orientation of the composite nanoparticles in the electrical field direction of the incident beam. Finally, the effect of external voltage on the nonlinear optical index was further investigated.     

Microscopic origin of asymmetric magnetization reversal of Co/Pt multilayers with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

We have comprehensively investigated asymmetric magnetization reversal behaviors of (x-Å Co/7.7 Å Pt)₅ multilayers (x = 3.1 and 4.7) with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. Our direct observation of magnetic domain structures by means of magneto-optical microscopy reveals that the asymmetry arises both from nucleation and wall-motion processes. An asymmetric nucleation behavior is observed, which could be originated from the preexisting non-reversed domains which might have a reproducible or random spatial distribution, controllable by tuning the field profile. An asymmetric wall-motion behavior stemming from asymmetric stripe domain evolution is also observed.     

Recent Advances in Spatial Self-Phase Modulation with 2D Materials and its Applications

In recent years, spatial self-phase modulation (SSPM) with two-dimensional (2D) materials has attracted the attention of many researchers as an emerging and ubiquitous nonlinear optical effect. In this review, the state of the art of 2D material-based SSPM is summarized. SSPM measures or tunes the nonlinearity of 2D materials, and it is also an effective approach to study the band structure of 2D materials. Several modified forms of SSPM, such as high-order, white-light-excited, vector field excited, and optically nonlinearly enhanced SSPM are also presented. Subsequently, the physical origin of the SSPM formation mechanism is compared and analyzed. Furthermore, the applications of SSPM with 2D materials, including passive photonic devices, generation of Bessel beams, and identifying the mode of the orbital angular momentum, are listed. Finally, several urgent problems of the SSPM with 2D materials, potential applications, and prospects for future development are presented.     

Boundary behavior of harmonic functions on metric measure spaces with non-negative Ricci curvature

Let (X, d, μ) be a metric measure space with non-negative Ricci curvature. This paper is concerned with the boundary behavior of harmonic function on the (open) upper half-space X\times {\text{ℝ}}_{+}. We derive that a function f of bounded mean oscillation (BMO) is the trace of harmonic function u(x,t) on X\times {\text{ℝ}}_{+},u(x,0)=f\left(x\right), whenever u satisfies the following Carleson measure condition where \nabla =({\nabla }_x,{\partial }_t) denotes the total gradient and B(x_B,r_B) denotes the (open) ball centered at x_B with radius r_B. Conversely, the above condition characterizes all the harmonic functions whose traces are in BMO space.     

On doubly warped product Finsler manifolds

In this paper, we introduce horizontal and vertical warped product Finsler manifolds. We prove that every C-reducible or proper Berwaldian doubly warped product Finsler manifold is Riemannian. Then, we find the relation between Riemannian curvatures of doubly warped product Finsler manifold and its components, and consider the cases that this manifold is flat or has scalar flag curvature. We define the doubly warped Sasaki-Matsumoto metric for warped product manifolds and find a condition under which the horizontal and vertical tangent bundles are totally geodesic. We obtain some conditions under which a foliated manifold reduces to a Reinhart manifold. Finally, we study an almost complex structure on the tangent bundle of a doubly warped product Finsler manifold.
