Leonard Pairs and Leonard Triples of q-Racah Type from the Quantum Algebra U q (sl 2)

In this article, we describe the construction of Leonard pairs and Leonard triples that have q-Racah type from U _q (sl ₂)-modules by using equitable generators of U _q (sl ₂). Our result solves an open problem proposed by Terwilliger.     

GENERALIZED BRAUER ALGEBRAS

ABSTRACT

Using some ideas of Brauer, we introduce what we call generalized Brauer algebras and, as a special case, Brauer orders. We show that many well-known classes of so-called crossed product algebras, and in particular, the well-known crossed product orders, can be obtained as special instances of our construction. We prove several results showing when Brauer orders are Azumaya, maximal, hereditary or Gorenstein.     

Regularity of Segal algebras

Let A be a Banach algebra. The second dual A** can be equipped with two multiplications, each of which is a natural extension of the original multiplication in A. The algebra A is said to be Arens regular if these two multiplications coincide. We give necessary (and, for some classes of algebras, sufficient) conditions for the regularity of a Segal algebra. We also obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the weak complete continuity of a Segal algebra.     

Sarason’s interpolation theorem for analytic crossed products

Saito (Math. Proc. Camb. Phil. Soc., 117, 11–20, 1995) proved Sarason’s interpolation theorem for an analytic crossed product determined by a finite von Neumann algebra. We extend this result without the assumption that the von Neumann algebra is finite.     

The index of centralizers of elements in classical Lie algebras

The index of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ is the minimum of dimensions of the stabilizers $\mathfrak{g}_\alpha $ over all covectors $\alpha \in \mathfrak{g}^ * $ . Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a reductive Lie algebra over a field $\mathbb{K}$ of characteristic ≠ = 2. Élashvili conjectured that the index of $\mathfrak{g}_\alpha $ is always equal to the index, or, which is the same, the rank of $\mathfrak{g}$ . In this article, Élashvili’s conjecture is proved for classical Lie algebras. Furthermore, it is shown that if $\mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{g}\mathfrak{l}_n $ or $\mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{p}_{2n} $ and $e \in \mathfrak{g}$ is a nilpotent element, then the coadjoint action of $\mathfrak{g}_e $ has a generic stabilizer. For $\mathfrak{g}$ , we give examples of nilpotent elements $e \in \mathfrak{g}$ such that the coadjoint action of $\mathfrak{g}_e $ does not have a generic stabilizer.     

Classification of extensions of torus algebra II

We use extension theory and algebraic methods to give a complete characterization of extensions of torus algebra by stable Cuntz algebras,and prove certain classification theorems of these extension algebras.

Complementarity properties of the Lyapunov transformation over symmetric cones

The well-known Lyapunov's theorem in matrix theory/continuous dynamical systems asserts that a square matrix A is positive stable if and only if there exists a positive definite matrix X such that AX +XA* is positive definite. In this paper, we extend this theorem to the setting of any Euclidean Jordan algebra V . Given any element a ∈ V , we consider the corresponding Lyapunov transformation La and show that the P and S-properties are both equivalent to a being positive. Then we characterize the R0 -property for La and show that La has the R0 -property if and only if a is invertible. Finally, we provide La with some characterizations of the E0 -property and the nondegeneracy property.
