When applied to functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data, spatial independent component analysis (sICA), a data-driven technique that addresses the blind source separation problem, seems able to extract components specifically related to physiological noise and brain movements. These components should be removed from the data to achieve structured noise reduction and improve any subsequent detection and analysis of signal fluctuations related to neural activity. We propose a new automatic method called CORSICA (CORrection of Structured noise using spatial Independent Component Analysis) to identify the components related to physiological noise, using prior information on the spatial localization of the main physiological fluctuations in fMRI data. As opposed to existing spectral priors, which may be subject to aliasing effects for long-TR data sets (typically acquired with TR >1 s), such spatial priors can be applied to fMRI data, regardless of the TR of the acquisitions. By comparing the proposed automatic selection to a manual selection performed visually by a human operator, we first show that CORSICA is able to identify the noise-related components for long-TR data with a high sensitivity and a specificity of 1. On short-TR data sets, we validate that the proposed method of noise reduction allows a substantial improvement of the signal-to-noise ratio evaluated at the cardiac and respiratory frequencies, even in the gray matter, while preserving the main fluctuations related to neural activity. 相似文献

This paper uses a fully nonparametric approach to estimate efficiency measures for primary care units incorporating the effect of (exogenous) environmental factors. This methodology allows us to account for different types of variables (continuous and discrete) describing the main characteristics of patients served by those providers. In addition, we use an extension of this nonparametric approach to deal with the presence of undesirable outputs in data, represented by the rates of hospitalization for ambulatory care sensitive condition (ACSC). ABSTRACTThis study computes the potential energy curves of the X1Σ+, A1Π, B1Δ, C1Σ+, and D1Π states of AlO+ cation and the transition dipole moments between them. The orders of the rotationless radiative lifetimes are 10–100?μs for the A1Π state, 1–1000?ms for the B1Δ state, 10?ns for the first well and 100?ns for the second well of the C1Σ+ state, and 1?μs for the D1Π state. Emissions of the B1Δ–A1Π and D1Π–C1Σ+ systems are so weak that they are hardly measured via spectroscopy, the emissions of the C1Σ+–X1Σ+, C1Σ+–A1Π, and D1Π–X1Σ+ systems are so strong that they can be detected readily, and emissions of the A1Π–X1Σ+ and D1Π–A1Π systems can be observed through spectroscopy only by a significant effort. There is a strong great similarity between spontaneous emissions of the A1Π–X1Σ+ system of the AlO+ cation and the A2Π–X2Σ+ system of the AlO radical. An ultrasound standing wave field (SWF) has been utilized in many biomedical applications. Here, we demonstrate how a SWF can enhance drug release using acoustic droplet vaporization (ADV) in an acoustically-responsive scaffold (ARS). ARSs are composite fibrin hydrogels containing payload-carrying, monodispersed perfluorocarbon (PFC) emulsions and have been used to stimulate regenerative processes such as angiogenesis. Elevated amplitudes in the SWF significantly enhanced payload release from ARSs containing dextran-loaded emulsions (nominal diameter: 6 μm) compared to the -SWF condition, both at sub- and suprathreshold excitation pressures. At 2.5 MHz and 4 MPa peak rarefactional pressure, the cumulative percentage of payload released from ARSs reached 84.1 ± 5.4% and 66.1 ± 4.4% under + SWF and -SWF conditions, respectively, on day 10. A strategy for generating a SWF for an in situ ARS is also presented. For dual-payload release studies, bi-layer ARSs containing a different payload within each layer were exposed to temporally staggered ADV at 3.25 MHz (day 0) and 8.6 MHz (day 4). Sequential payload release was demonstrated using dextran payloads as well as two growth factors relevant to angiogenesis: basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and platelet-derived growth factor BB (PDGF-BB). In addition, bubble growth and fibrin degradation were characterized in the ARSs under +SWF and -SWF conditions.
