Poly(ortho‐phenylene ethynylene)s (PoPEs) have been synthesized via an in situ activation/coupling AB′ polycondensation protocol. The resulting polymers have been characterized by several analytical methods and are shown to have no structural defects. Although the Sonogashira–Hagihara polycondensation reaction is less efficient than for the preparation of the corresponding meta‐ and para‐linked polymers, presumably because of steric hindrance caused by the ortho substituents, the process can be accelerated by the use of microwave irradiation. Optical spectroscopy indicates solvent‐dependent conformational changes between extended transoid and helical cisoid conformations, providing the first experimental evidence for solvophobically driven folding of the PoPE backbone. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary The [h]phenylene C6h H2h+4 isomers are enumerated up toh=12. The numbers are compared with old and new data for C n H5 isomers of benzenoids, fluoranthenoids and biphenylenoids.

New materials based on low-generation polyphenylene dendrimers with the light emission in the blue spectrum range were synthesized and examined for an efficient organic light emitting diodes (OLED) application. It has been shown that the ratio of p-phenylene groups with high fluorescence parameters to 1,3,5-triphenylbenzene groups with low fluorescent parameters may be the possible reason for the experimental variations of relative quantum yield of photoluminescence in the compounds explored. The quantum yield value is increased with a number of dendrimer generations up to 50–70%. The role of bromine atoms as the luminescence quenchers have been demonstrated, which is important for synthesis route choice.  相似文献

Based on the fact that anthracene (Anth) possesses much higher similarity in electron-releasing ability to porphyrin nucleus than the other polyacenes, the dimeric octaethylporphyrin (OEP) derivatives 4 and 5 (OEP–Anth–OEP) were synthesized and their structure–property relationships were examined, as compared with related OEP dimers 13. Among them, the derivative 4 showed enormously high electronic communication between two terminal OEP rings, potentially providing a suitable unit of the electronic structure for molecular design of the OEP devices operating with less energy and with higher sensitivity to outside stimuli.  相似文献

This article reports the synthesis, optical properties, and pH responses of a water‐soluble poly(phenylene ethynylene) with pendant carboxylate groups. This conjugated polyelectrolyte, PPE‐OBS, was prepared via a facile synthetic route, using 1,4‐di(ethyl 4‐oxy‐butyrate)‐2,5‐diiodo‐benzene as polymeric monomer and followed by the alkali induced saponification. PPE‐OBS absorbs strongly in the blue region and emits a moderately intense fluorescence. However, it subjects to unstable emission in neutral aqueous media, which is believed to arise because the polymer tends to become more hydrophobic via protonation and to form much heavier aggregates (clusters). Subsequent studies on the interaction and stabilization of PPE‐OBS with various surfactants indicate that its fluorescence stability can be largely improved in the presence of a small amount of surfactant. More interestingly, even at low pH, the surfactant‐stabilized polyelectrolyte with its pendant groups being ? COOH rather than ? COO? remains water‐soluble and emits efficiently, which is expected of great significance for the covalent linkage to bio‐molecules. In addition, the sensitive pH response in emission spectrum of PPE‐OBS/surfactant complex over a relatively wide range suggests surely a potential access to the fluorescent sensing of pH variation. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Reaction of LnCl3 with Na2(PDDA) (PDDA = phenylene‐1, 2‐dioxydiacetate) in a 1 to 2 mol ratio in aqueous solution yielded [Ln2(PDDA)3(H2O)6] · 2H2O, structurally characterized for Ln = Ce ( 1 ), Sm ( 2 ) (redetermination), Tb ( 3 ) and Y ( 4 ) in a monoclinic C2/c array, a second related structural form [orthorhombic, Pbcn] being obtained for Tb ( 5 ), Ho ( 6 ) and Er ( 7 ). The ‘domains of existence' of these two previously described forms are now extended to Ce–Dy, Y, and Eu–Er, respectively. Reaction under the same conditions for the heavier Yb3+ ion yielded [Yb2(PDDA)3(H2O)6](∞|∞) · 4H2O ( 8 ), orthorhombic, Pbca. In the case of Ln = La the bimetallic species [NaLa(PDDA)2(H2O)2](∞|∞) · 4H2O ( 9 ) was obtained, while reaction of LnCl3 with Na2(PDDA) in a 1 to 3 mol ratio led to the isolation of the isotypic (monoclinic, P21/c) [NaLn(PDDA)2(H2O)2](∞|∞) · 4H2O) for Ln = Ce ( 10 ) and Sm ( 12 ). With the smaller Ln = Yb, the more definitively bimetallic [NaYb(PDDA)2(H2O)2](∞|∞) · 3H2O ( 13 ) (triclinic, P$\bar{1}$ )) was obtained, the trihydrate solvation ascribed differing from that recorded (dihydrate) in a cosynchronous report.  相似文献

Two new classes of mono- and oligo(p-phenylene ethynylene)s grafted with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) were synthesized via ‘click’ chemistry and palladium-catalyzed Sonogashira cross-coupling. These materials with cubic silsesquioxanes are very robust with excellent thermal stability in air (T5%loss>330 °C) and exhibited Tg>80 °C. All the compounds showed high photoluminescence with a range of blue emission and quantum yield up to 80% in the solution. Extended π conjugation molecules of oligo-pPEs POSS maintain relatively high PL quantum efficiencies in the solid state, compared to mono-pPEs POSS. A preliminary report is made of some of the materials as multilayer OLED components with active dopants PVK and PBD.  相似文献
