We discuss devices based on photonic crystal planar waveguides for use as wavelength-selective applications via the mini-stopband extraction mechanism. We present experimental data for the core of a compact demux system. We show that spatial and spectral behaviours are as intended from coupled-mode theory, as well as from the finite-difference time-domain approach. Finally, we propose architectures with large crosstalk and some inherent fabrication-related advantages achieved by duplicating the basic multimode waveguide and using it as a spectral filter. 相似文献

使用金属包覆磁性波导中的磁光耦合理论分析了静磁表面波与导波光在金属/电介质/钇铁石榴石/钆镓石榴石结构中的磁光共线作用,讨论了金属覆层和斜向场对磁光模式转换效率的影响。计算表明,金属包覆波导可以提高磁光作用,通过调节金属覆层与磁性薄膜间距得到了比空气/4a铁石榴石/钆镓石榴石的传统三明治波导情形高8.7dB的模式转换效率;而同时优化偏置磁场方向和金属包覆波导参数,模式转换效率可以进一步提高5.25dB。因此,金属包覆波导可以用于提高磁光Bragg器件性能,在微波和光信息处理等方面具有广阔的应用前蒂。 相似文献

The formation of optical planar waveguides in LiNbO3 and stoichiometric LiNbO3 crystals by proton exchange was reported. The prism-coupling method was used to characterize the dark-line spectroscopy at
the wavelength of 633 and 1539 nm, respectively. The mode optical near-field outputs from proton-exchanged LiNbO3 and SLN waveguides at 633 nm were presented. The mode field from stoichiometric LiNbO3 (SLN) waveguide is lighter and more uniform than that from LiNbO3 waveguide, which means the quality of the waveguide in SLN crystal is better than that of the LiNbO3 waveguide. For proton-exchanged LiNbO3 waveguides, the evolution of the refractive index profile with annealing was presented. The disorder profiles of Nb atoms
in proton-exchanged LiNbO3 waveguides were obtained by Rutherford backscattering/channeling technique. It is shown that the longer the exchange time,
the larger the displacement of Nb atoms.

Superconducting deflecting cavities can be used in synchrotron light source to generate subpicosecond X-ray pulses while the impedance of the lower order modes (LOM) and higher order modes (HOM) in the cavity should be kept below an accepted level to avoid beam instability. These modes can be damped by adding waveguide on beam pipe. Detailed simulation of Q in CST Microwave Studio is introduced and experiment results on an aluminum model cavity with damping waveguide are reported to make a comparison. 相似文献

It is shown that the type of lateral waveguide of a laser diode cannot be determined uniquely based on just the measured magnitude of astigmatism. For a unique determination, the K-factor of Petermann, which characterizes the wavefront curvature at the laser output facet, must be measured as well. In order to determine the type of lateral waveguide, a setup for measuring astigmatic distances in the range 0–200 m with an error of ±2 m and a K-factor with an error of 20% was developed. Operational features of the setup were analyzed, and a technique that allows one to minimize the effect of beam ellipticity on the measurement results was found. Using the technique, the optimization of spatial matching of a laser diode with a ring interferometer of the butterfly type was accomplished. For transformation of the astigmatic elliptical beam into the axially symmetric mode of the interferometer, we have used an optical system that consists of two cylindrical and one spherical lenses. The algorithm for designing the matching system was developed, and the 85% injection of radiation of a AlGaAs laser diode into the principal mode of a ring interferometer was experimentally demonstrated. 相似文献

The excitation and transmission losses of a dielectric-lined waveguide have been calculated with real, experimentally measured output beams of a submillimeter wave gyrotron.
