Test examples for nonlinear programming codes

The increasing importance of nonlinear programming software requires an enlarged set of test examples. The purpose of this note is to point out how an interested mathematical programmer could obtain computer programs of more than 120 constrained nonlinear programming problems which have been used in the past to test and compare optimization codes.     

Trust-region algorithms for derivative-free optimization and nonlinear bilevel programming

We briefly describe the contents of the authors PhD thesis (see Colson 2003) discussed on July 2003 at the University of Namur (Belgium) and supervised by Philippe L. Toint. The contributions presented in this thesis are the development of trust-region methods for solving two particular classes of mathematical programs, namely derivative-free optimization (DFO) problems and nonlinear bilevel programming problems. NorTRACK product tracking system—development and implementation

This paper presents the experience gained by developers and users with implementation and operation of NorTRACK^TM, a real-time computerized product tracking system. A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) collects and transfers data in real time to NorTRACK’s Oracle^TM database on a Windows NT^TM server network. After extensive development and Beta testing at MDS Nordion’s Canadian Irradiation Centre in Montreal, Canada, NorTRACK was installed in January 1997 with a new irradiation facility in Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc.’s Albuquerque plant in the United States. NorTRACK communicates with the irradiator control and safety system, the plant's central manufacturing database, an innovative pallet staging and tote loading robot, and an automated dosimetry reading system. This integrated system allows the sterilization facility to monitor the irradiator operation and the flow of many products, through varied processing modes, continuously and reliably. As a result of operating with NorTRACK, both MDS Nordion’s CIC facility and the Endo-Surgery manufacturing site, are beginning to realize unique benefits in their respective operations. MDS Nordion is also initiating several future product enhancements and additional productivity modules. This paper describes the NorTRACK system, the various stages of the development project and Beta tests, and the experience of the users to date in their operations.     

JavaStatSoft: design patterns and features

JavaStatSoft, implemented using Java, is an open-source software for performing statistics. The current features of JavaStatSoft are described. Several well-known patterns the software used are introduced. In addition, based on these patterns and the experience in developing the software, a new framework, referred to as Data Analysis Module, is proposed to help programmers develop a user-friendly software for data analysis.     

一种计算工作时间参数新方法

为了编制和优化施工进度计划,计算构成施工项目的各项工作最早开始时间、最迟开始时间、最早完成时间、最迟完成时间、总时差和自由时差等时间参数十分重要.提出了一种计算工作时间参数新方法.该方法以工作完成时间为决策变量,通过建立和求解线性规划模型来得到各种工作时间参数.其建模思路清晰,不需绘制网络图,能用通用办公软件EXCEL求解.模拟计算表明,用该方法与用标准网络计划技术计算出的工作时间参数完全一致.     

Optimization using spreadsheets on a microcomputer

This paper discusses the advantages of using spreadsheets for problem specification and report generation in optimization projects. It summarizes some of the mathematical programming software which is compatible with popular spreadsheets. A small production planning problem is used to illustrate the steps in input and processing of the results. Two programs are compared in detail.     

Matlab软件在多元统计分析中的应用

许多实际问题往往需要对数据进行统计分析,建立合适的统计模型.过去一般采用SAS、SPSS软件分析,本文给出Matlab软件在多元统计分析上的应用,主要介绍Matlab在主成份分析、聚类分析、判别分析上的应用。文中均给以实例,结果令人满意。     

X射线衍射仪功能扩展的研究

通过软件实现了用 Ｐ Ｃ 机调用日本 Ｒｉｇａｋｕ 公司生产的 Ｄ／ ｍａｘ 一类 Ｘ 射线衍射仪测量数据，利用 Ｐ Ｃ 机的复杂计算功能，使原有仪器也可以进行新的结构分析工作，扩展了仪器的功能。
