Optical absorption of lithium metal vapor at high temperatures

Experimental results are reported for a unique spectroscopic device called the Plasma Spectroscopy Cell. Optical absorption of lithium metal vapor was observed at high density and temperature. Absorption spectra are analyzed using theoretical calculations of absorption cross sections for lithium-helium interactions, and singlet and triplet state transitions of diatomic lithium in the visible spectral range. This is believed to be the most complex example yet calculated in which absolute bound-bound, bound-free, free-bound, and free-free contributions for all possible optically allowed transitions are all included, in quite respectable agreement with experiment.     

Low noise double pass L-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier

A new double pass long wavelength band erbium-doped fiber amplifier with enhanced noise figure characteristics is demonstrated. The noise figure is improved by about 2.6 dB with the incorporation of broadband conventional-band fiber Bragg grating (FBG) in between the two segments of erbium-doped fiber. By incorporating both the pre-amplifier and the FBG, the noise figure is further improved, which varies from 4.0 to 5.0 dB in the flat gain region from 1570 to 1600 nm. The gain varies from 32.0 to 33.4 dB within this region. The new amplifier with high gain and low noise figure can be useful as an inline amplifier in a wavelength division multiplexing transmission system.     

Bi12TiO20纳米粉体的制备及其光吸收特性研究

以钛酸四丁酯和硝酸铋为原料 ,利用化学溶液分解法制备了Bi12 TiO2 0 纳米多晶粉体 .采用XRD和TEM对其结构和形貌进行了表征 .结合热重 差热 (TG DTA)分析 ,探讨了Bi12 TiO2 0 晶相的形成机理 .通过UV Vis漫反射谱的测定 ,研究了Bi12 TiO2 0 纳米晶粉体的光吸收特性 .结果显示 ,从组成为化学计量比的前驱液中可以很容易制得纯Bi12 TiO2 0 纳米晶粉体 ,该Bi12 TiO2 0 纳米晶粉体呈现了在很宽的波长范围内 (5 6 0～ 385nm )对光的吸收的特性 .     

Structural optimization design for large mirror

The system design must be started from the concept with low cost and high performance. In this point, the topological shape of the structure is very important in the view of the structural rigidities and light-weight design.In this paper, the optimization methodology is presented in the design stage of the large optical mirror. We obtain the optimal layout through the topology optimization and then design the details through the size or shape optimization for structural rigidity.     

Investigation of multiwavelength clock recovery based on heterodyne beats of sideband-filtered signal

We investigate a new parallel all-optical clock recovery scheme based on heterodyne beats of an optical sideband-filtered signal. The oscillating clock signal is recovered when the filtered sideband is combined with a stable local oscillator. The filtering is performed with an optical resonator, which by nature provides possibility for multiwavelength operation. The local oscillator could be realized by a multiwavelength laser, whose emission wavelengths are injection seeded with carrier wavelengths of the input data. The output signal of such a configuration benefits from a reduced bit-pattern effect and a stable offset level. The sideband filtering is demonstrated for 23 simultaneous channels at 100 GHz DWDM grid, each hosting a data stream of 10 Gbit/s.     

Photo-induced evolution of copper sheets from cluster molecules and its application to photolithographic copper patterning

UV photoexcitation of (t-butylethynyl copper)₂₄ cluster films induces segregation of the crystals into metallic and organic phases and leads to evolve the metallic sheets sandwiched by organic polymers. The growth of the metallic crystals in the plane of the photo-electromagnetic field is attributed due to plasmon-plasmon interaction among nanoparticles embedded in dielectric polymer matrices. The surface enhanced photochemical reaction of residual cluster molecules on the photon incident direction is expected to take an important role for joining the metal particles to produce a metallic sheet. We can apply this phenomenon for photolithographic copper pattern generation on a flexible base plate.     

Series solution to the laser-ion interaction in a Raman-type configuration

The Raman interaction of a ultracold ion trapped with two travelling wave lasers is studied analytically with series solutions, in the absence of the rotating wave approximation (RWA) and without restrictions of both the Lamb-Dicke limit and the weak excitation regime. The comparison is made between our solutions and those obtained under the RWA in order to demonstrate the validity region of the RWA. As a practical example, the preparation of Schr?dinger-cat states is proposed beyond the weak excitation regime, using our calculations. Quantitative evaluation of two-dimensional dynamic deformations using digital holography

An optical system for the parallel evaluation of in- and out-of-plane dynamical deformations will be described. A double pulse laser with pulse separation in the microsecond range is used for the investigations. Two separate interferograms of an object under test, in its undeformed and deformed state, are recorded in a few microseconds. The object is illuminated from two different directions and imaged onto a CCD sensor. This produces two sensitivity vectors. The reference beams have different directions in order to produce two directional spatial carriers. The Fourier method is used for quantitative evaluation, and the measurements along different sensitivity vectors are separated in the Fourier domain. The phases of the two interferograms are obtained from the complex amplitudes and the two dimensional deformation is calculated from the phases. Experimental results are presented.
