A fifth-order theory for solving the problem of interaction between Stokes waves and exponential profile currents is proposed.
The calculated flow fields are compared with measurements. Then the errors caused by the linear superposition method and approximate
theory are discussed. It is found that the total wavccurrent field consists of pure wave, pure current and interaction components.
The shear current not only directly changes the flow field, but also indirectly does so by changing the wave parameters due
to wave-current interaction. The present theory can predict the wave kinematics on shear currents satisfactorily. The linear
superposition method may give rise to more than 40% loading error in extreme conditions. When the apparent wave period is
used and the Wheeler stretching method is adopted to extrapolate the current, application of the approximate theory is the
best.

Thin films of a-SiOx (0 < x < 2) were prepared by reactive r.f. magnetron sputtering from a polycrystalline-silicon target in an Ar/O2 gas mixture. The oxygen partial pressure in the deposition chamber was varied so as to obtain films with different values of x. The plasma was monitored, during depositions, by optical emission spectroscopy (OES) system. Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) measurements and infra-red (IR) spectroscopy were used to study the compositional and structural properties of the deposited layers.Structural modifications of SiOx thin films have been induced by UV photons’ bombardment (wavelength of 248 nm) using a pulsed laser. IR spectroscopy and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) were used to investigate the structural changes as a function of x value and incident energy. SiOx phase separation by spinodal decomposition was revealed. The IR peak position shifted towards high wavenumber values when the laser energy is increased. Values corresponding to the SiO2 material (only Si4+) have been found for laser irradiated samples, independently on the original x value. The phase separation process has a threshold energy that is in agreement with theoretical values calculated for the dissociation energy of the investigated material.For high values of the laser energy, crystalline silicon embedded in oxygen-rich silicon oxide was revealed by Raman spectroscopy. 相似文献

Organically modified solid-state silicates (ORMOSILS) doped with a new laser dye 1,3,5,7,8-pentamethylpyrromethene-2,6-disulfonate-BF2 complex (pyrromethene 556) have been synthesized by a sol-gel method and the compositional effects on pore characteristics, fluorescence and lasing properties have been investigated. It is found that the use of dimethylsulfoxide and γ-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane could greatly change the structure properties of sol-gel derived ORMOSILS cage, and thus the fluorescence and lasing properties of the materials could improve significantly. A successful laser oscillation from this dye-doped ORMOSILS sample has been achieved upon pumping with a Q-switched frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser at 532 nm. A slope efficiency of 54% with a useful lifetime greater than 10,000 shots has been demonstrated at a pump repetition rate of 1 Hz and a pump intensity of 1 J/cm2 by using the new ORMOSILS cage on our newly designed laser system. Our results have shown that it is possible to obtain a high-efficiency with a long-lifetime for a compact new laser device by low cost dye-doped solid-state ORMOSILS. 相似文献

An intensity-modulated optical fibre sensor system is described which employs a single LED source to provide the measurand and the reference signals with two separate wavelength bands. The allocated wavelength bands are selected to minimize any differential intensity effects that may arise from LED thermal variations. The sensor system, comprising a transceiver unit connected to an optical displacement sensor using a single optical fibre, provides an output fully referenced for all major common-mode variations that are likely to occur. A validation procedure based on the ISO/IEC 17025 standard was used to demonstrate the long-term stability of a calibration
process and to assess the measurement uncertainty of a standard test method for optical emission vacuum spectrometric analysis
of carbon and low-alloy steel (ASTM E 415–99a). The validation was used to provide documented evidence that the selected method
fulfils the requirements and that the method is ”fit for purpose”. A test for drift was applied to determine statistically
whether the analytical results vary systematically with time. The accuracy and traceability of the optimised method were tested
by an analysis of closely matched matrix certified reference materials (CRMs). The measurement uncertainty estimations took
account of the precision study, the bias and its uncertainty, and the qualification of uncertainties not considered in the
overall performance studies.

By means of a new force sensor based on optical beam deflection (OBD), the mechanical effects of laser-matter interaction underwater at different incident laser energy are investigated in detail. The experimental results show that a target underwater is impacted in turn by laser-plasma ablation force and high-speed liquid-jet impulse induced by bubbles collapse in the vicinity of a solid boundary. Furthermore, the amplitudes of the two forces increase monotonously with laser energy. According to the ablation force detected by the experiment and the theoretical relationship between laser intensity and ablation pressure, the value of liquid-jet impact against a solid boundary can be easily obtained. In addition, based on the model of a collapsing bubble, some characteristic parameters, such as the liquid-jet impact velocity, the maximum bubble radius, the bubble energy can also be obtained at different laser energy, which are valuable in the corresponding research fields. 相似文献

We have confirmed biexciton formation in an organic-inorganic hybrid quantum-well material (C4H9NH3)2PbBr4 by photoluminescence and two-photon absorption measurements. The biexciton has extremely large binding energy, 60 meV, which to our knowledge is the largest value ever reported for a semiconductor. By analyzing the spectrum of biexciton luminescence, the biexciton gas temperature was found to be much higher than the bath temperature due to a higher local temperature arising from the large biexciton binding energy. 相似文献
