Cervix-cancer is the third most common female cancer worldwide. Papanicolaou (Pap) test, a well-recognized screening tool, is labor intensive, time consuming and prone to subjective interpretations. Optical spectroscopic methods, sensitive to molecular changes are being pursued as potential diagnostics tool. In this study we have explored Raman spectroscopic approach to differentiate exfoliated cell pellets using 94 cervical cell specimens (45-normal and 49-abnormal specimens). Study was carried out by two approaches. In the first approach, spectral data from 37 cell specimens were acquired and analyzed by Principal Component-Linear Discriminant Analysis (PC-LDA), which yielded classification efficiencies of 86% and 84% for normal and abnormal specimens, respectively. Mean and difference spectra suggest presence of blood in abnormal specimen as a major cause of discrimination. However, as tumor is vascular, bleeding was observed during abnormal sample collection. Hence, spectra of abnormal specimens show heme and fibrin features, and this can lead to false interpretations, as bleeding also occur in several non-cancerous conditions. Therefore, remaining 57 specimens were treated with Red Blood Corpuscles (RBC) lysis buffer in order to remove the RBC influence. PC-LDA resulted classification efficiency of about 79% and 78% for normal and abnormal smear, respectively – comparable to Pap test. Thus finding of the study suggests feasibility of Raman spectroscopic classification of normal and cancerous exfoliated cervical cell specimens. 相似文献

This article describes the synthesis of new cyclic compounds able to react with amines to get nonisocyanate polyurethanes (NIPUs). The contribution of the most studied five‐membered cyclic carbonate was compared to five‐membered cyclic dithiocarbonate analogous and to a six‐membered cyclic carbonate. Difunctional reactive species were obtained by a simple substitution reaction or an efficient thiol–ene coupling reaction. The products, obtained with high yields, were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and Fourier tansform infrared spectroscopy analysis. The dicyclocarbonates were then used to synthesize NIPUs by step growth polymerization with several diamines. These materials exhibited glass transition temperatures from 19 to ?29 °C, molar mass from 1800 to 20,400 g mol?1, and a 20% mass loss temperature (Td = 20%) between 249 and 296 °C. Abstract A method is reported for the determination of Ni, Co, Bi, Al, V, Ti, Cu, Si, Pb, Cr, Mg, Sn, and Fe in molybdenum metal by optical emission spectrography. The procedure consists of dissolving the metal in HNO3 and HCl, evaporating to dryness, and igniting at 500–550°C to MoO3. The MoO3 is mixed with an equal weight of GeO2, which acts as an inert collector, and ignited at 700–750°C to volatilize the MoO3. This double ignition method concentrates the impurities on the GeO2 thereby placing the trace elements within the range of the spectrograph. Four MnIII-porphyrin complexes, chloro(tetraphenylporphinato)MnIII(1,6-diaminohexane), bromo(tetraphenylporphinato)MnIII(1,6-diaminohexane), azido(tetraphenylporphinato)MnIII(1,6-diaminohexane), and thiocyanato(tetraphenylporphinato)MnIII(1,6-diaminohexane), have been synthesized. These complexes have been characterized using UV-Vis, IR, ESI-mass spectra, elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and conductivity measurement. The molar conductance values of these complexes in ethanol indicate non-electrolytes. A bright white organic light-emitting diode (OLED) has been successfully fabricated in which a greenish-white emitting host Bis-(2-(2-hydroxyphenyl) benzothiazole)zinc (Zn(BTZ)2) is doped with an orange-red fluorescent dye 5,6,11,12-tetraphenylnaphthacene (rubrene). The pure white light emission with CIE coordinates of (0.341, 0.334) is achieved at the driving voltage of 20 V, and the corresponding luminance and external quantum efficiency are 4000 Cd/m2 and 0.63%. On the other hand, the pure red, green, and blue (RGB) emissions are obtained from the white OLED combined well with RGB custom-built optical color filters (CFs) with peaks at 616, 556, and 456 nm, respectively. Moreover, based upon the color mixture principles, we build a model of multi-color display mixed by the pure RGB emissions under the controllable bias. 相似文献

Ni + Mo + Si composite coatings were prepared by co-deposition of nickel with molybdenum and silicon powders from a nickel solution in which Mo and Si particles were suspended by stirring. The layers have been deposited on a carbon steel substrate (St3S) under galvanostatic conditions. The content of Si in deposited layers was about 2-5 wt.% depending on deposition current density and the value of electric charge. For comparison Ni + Mo composite coatings were obtained under analogous current conditions. Composite coatings of enhanced Si content (15 wt.%) were deposited from an electrolyte in which 40 g/dm3 of Si covered with electroless plated nickel was dispersed. Deposition current density was equal 0.1 A/cm2 and the value of electric charge Q = 500 C/cm2. The thickness of the coatings was about 100-300 μm depending on their kind, electric charge and the deposition current density. Surface and cross-section morphology were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM). All deposited coatings are characterized by great, developed surface area. No internal stresses causing their cracking were observed. Chemical composition of the layers was determined by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) method and quantitative X-ray analysis (QXRD). It was stated, that the content of molybdenum and silicon in Ni + Mo + Si coatings depends on deposition current density and the amount of the powder in bath. The results of structural investigation of the obtained layers by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) method show, that they consist in crystalline Mo or Mo and Si phases built into Ni matrix. Moreover, Ni + Mo + Si composite coatings were modified by thermal treatment. It has been found that the thermal treatment of Ni + Mo + Si composite coatings caused that the new phases (NiSi, Mo2Ni3Si and Ni6Mo6C1.06) were obtained. 相似文献

We discuss the spectral lineshapes of reflectance and modulated reflectance (MR) measurements on optoelectronic device structures such as epi-layers, quantum wells (QWs), vertical-cavity surface emitting-lasers (VCSELs) and resonant-cavity light-emitting diodes (RCLEDs). We consider the various methods for the extraction of built-in electric fields and band-gap energies from Franz-Keldysh oscillations (FKO), using the example of a tensilely strained InGaAs QW system, whose InGaAsP barriers yield strong FKO. We describe how critical point transition energies can be easily obtained by eye from Kramers-Kronig (KK) transforms of low field or QW modulation spectra, using the example of the modulated transmittance spectra of dilute-nitrogen InGaAsN p-i-n structures. We also discuss how the ordinary reflectivity spectrum, usually acquired at the same time as the MR signal, may also be exploited to extract layer thicknesses and compositions, and information about the active QW absorption spectrum in VCSEL and RCLED structures. 相似文献

A ring-down interferometer (RDI) based on a modified Mach–Zehnder structure by incorporating a pair of mirrors with very high reflectivity into each of its two arms, respectively is proposed in this paper. Launching a coherent light pulse into the interferometer, in each arm, pulse ring-down occurs between its two mirrors and outputs a chain of pulses. The two chains of pulses from the two arms combine and interfere pulse by pulse at the detector and the difference of the light phase between the two arms will be enlarged linearly in proportion to the times of ring-down. 相似文献

The surface profiler has become a basic metrology tool for the characterization of high-quality optical surfaces. The unknown effective resolution of the surface profiler is problematic in using the instrument, as it distorts the measured surface profile. In this paper, we suggest and describe the use of a fractal surface as a standard test surface with which to calibrate the effective resolution of a surface profiler. Fractal surfaces have the characteristics of irregularity, self-similarity and low correlation, with the correlation length being approximately equal to the length of the profile; therefore, a log-log plot of the power spectral density curve is a straight line. The power spectral density curves of fractal surfaces, which can be acquired through surface characterization techniques such as atomic force microscopy, are fitted to a straight line to act as a standard with which to calibrate an optical profiler in different ranges. Through calibration, we can obtain the effective resolution of the optical profiler, and the surface profiler is found to have good transmission capacity within the effective spatial frequency range. 相似文献
