Self-Orthogonal 3-(56,12,65) Designs and Extremal Doubly-Even Self-Dual Codes of Length 56

In this paper, we show that the code generated by the rows of a block-point incidence matrix of a self-orthogonal 3-(56,12,65) design is a doubly-even self-dual code of length 56. As a consequence, it is shown that an extremal doubly-even self-dual code of length 56 is generated by the codewords of minimum weight. We also demonstrate that there are more than one thousand inequivalent extremal doubly-even self-dual [56,28,12] codes. This result shows that there are more than one thousand non-isomorphic self-orthogonal 3-(56,12,65) designs. AMS Classification: 94B05, 05B05     

Moments of distributions related to digital expansions

The paper studies certain (probability) measures of binomial type defined in a recursive way on the unit interval. These measures are related to the sum-of-digit function and similar quantities. In particular, we undertake an asymptotic analysis of the moments of the corresponding distributions. This is done by a combination of a method based on the Mellin transform and the depoissonisation technique.     

The largest strongly consecutive repeat-free code

Answering a question of Körner and Simonyi, this paper gives a strongly consecutive repeat-free code of maximal size in [b]ⁿ.

Equivalences among Z2s-linear Hadamard codes

The ${\mathbb{Z}}_{2^s}$-additive codes are subgroups of ${\mathbb{Z}}_{2^s}^n$, and can be seen as a generalization of linear codes over ${\mathbb{Z}}_2$ and ${\mathbb{Z}}_4$. A ${\mathbb{Z}}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard code is a binary Hadamard code which is the Gray map image of a ${\mathbb{Z}}_{2^s}$-additive code. A partial classification of these codes by using the dimension of the kernel is known. In this paper, we establish that some ${\mathbb{Z}}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard codes of length $2^t$ are equivalent, once $t$ is fixed. This allows us to improve the known upper bounds for the number of such nonequivalent codes. Moreover, up to $t=11$, this new upper bound coincides with a known lower bound (based on the rank and dimension of the kernel). Finally, when we focus on $s\in \{2,3\}$, the full classification of the ${\mathbb{Z}}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard codes of length $2^t$ is established by giving the exact number of such codes.
