Apnea and other breathing-related disorders have been linked to the development of hypertension or impairments of the cardiovascular, cognitive or metabolic systems. The combined assessment of multiple physiological signals acquired during sleep is of fundamental importance for providing additional insights about breathing disorder events and the associated impairments. In this work, we apply information-theoretic measures to describe the joint dynamics of cardiorespiratory physiological processes in a large group of patients reporting repeated episodes of hypopneas, apneas (central, obstructive, mixed) and respiratory effort related arousals (RERAs). We analyze the heart period as the target process and the airflow amplitude as the driver, computing the predictive information, the information storage, the information transfer, the internal information and the cross information, using a fuzzy kernel entropy estimator. The analyses were performed comparing the information measures among segments during, immediately before and after the respiratory event and with control segments. Results highlight a general tendency to decrease of predictive information and information storage of heart period, as well as of cross information and information transfer from respiration to heart period, during the breathing disordered events. The information-theoretic measures also vary according to the breathing disorder, and significant changes of information transfer can be detected during RERAs, suggesting that the latter could represent a risk factor for developing cardiovascular diseases. These findings reflect the impact of different sleep breathing disorders on respiratory sinus arrhythmia, suggesting overall higher complexity of the cardiac dynamics and weaker cardiorespiratory interactions which may have physiological and clinical relevance.  相似文献

In this paper, we focus on extended informational measures based on a convex function ϕ: entropies, extended Fisher information, and generalized moments. Both the generalization of the Fisher information and the moments rely on the definition of an escort distribution linked to the (entropic) functional ϕ. We revisit the usual maximum entropy principle—more precisely its inverse problem, starting from the distribution and constraints, which leads to the introduction of state-dependent ϕ-entropies. Then, we examine interrelations between the extended informational measures and generalize relationships such the Cramér–Rao inequality and the de Bruijn identity in this broader context. In this particular framework, the maximum entropy distributions play a central role. Of course, all the results derived in the paper include the usual ones as special cases.  相似文献

The replacement of a point dipole and a point quadrupole by a corresponding linear arrangement of two point charges (+q, ?q) and accordingly three point charges (+q, ?2q, +q) is studied with respect to vapour–liquid equilibria. The dependence of saturated liquid density, vapour pressure and heat of vaporization on the choice of the distance d between the charges in the point charge arrangement is analysed. For the studied dipolar two-centre Lennard-Jones (2CLJD) and quadrupolar two-centre Lennard-Jones (2CLJQ) models, d/σ between 1/15 and 1/20 is a reasonable compromise between numerical and physical accuracy, where σ is the Lennard-Jones size parameter. The results are used to derive validated partial charge based models of 59 real fluids from previously published point dipole and point quadrupole based models.  相似文献

The interaction within the methane–methane (CH4/CH4), perfluoromethane–perfluoromethane (CF4/CF4) methane–perfluoromethane dimers (CH4/CF4) was calculated using the Hartree–Fock (HF) method, multiple orders of Møller–Plesset perturbation theory [MP2, MP3, MP4(DQ), MP4(SDQ), MP4(SDTQ)], and coupled cluster theory [CCSD, CCSD(T)], as well as the PW91, B97D, and M06-2X density functional theory (DFT) functionals. The basis sets of Dunning and coworkers (aug-cc-pVxZ, x?=?D, T, Q), Krishnan and coworkers [6-311++G(d,p), 6-311++G(2d,2p)], and Tsuzuki and coworkers [aug(df, pd)-6-311G(d,p)] were used. Basis set superposition error (BSSE) was corrected via the counterpoise method in all cases. Interaction energies obtained with the MP2 method do not fit with the experimental finding that the methane–perfluoromethane system phase separates at 94.5?K. It was not until the CCSD(T) method was considered that the interaction energy of the methane–perfluoromethane dimer (?0.69?kcal?mol?1) was found to be intermediate between the methane (?0.51?kcal?mol?1) and perfluoromethane (?0.78?kcal?mol?1) dimers. This suggests that a perfluoromethane molecule interacts preferentially with another perfluoromethane (by about 0.09?kcal?mol?1) than with a methane molecule. At temperatures much lower than the CH4/CF4 critical solution temperature of 94.5?K, this energy difference becomes significant and leads perfluoromethane molecules to associate with themselves, forming a phase separation. The DFT functionals yielded erratic results for the three dimers. Further development of DFT is needed in order to model dispersion interactions in hydrocarbon/perfluorocarbon systems.  相似文献

The presence of magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) in physiological systems induces toxicity through its effects on mitochondrial function and reactive oxygen species (ROS) imbalance. Magnetic NP induced cytotoxicity has been elaborately evaluated for impending threats, however, a detailed investigation is lacking. It is shown that the interaction of Fe3O4 NPs with cytochrome c can lead to different events based on the NPs to protein ratio, the solution conditions, and the type of surface protection. At low NPs concentration, rapid binding and subsequent electron transfer are the preferred events while at higher concentration slow oxidative modification of the protein is initiated. The slow event of protein modification yields conformational disorientation, loss of stability, and formation of amyloid‐like structures with cytochrome c. The possibility that the NP induced oxidative stress and age can work in concert to compromise different aspects of cellular quality control processes is discussed. Suitable surface modifications of the NPs inhibit their direct binding to the protein molecules and minimize NP induced toxicity.  相似文献

The high pressure dissociation of hemocyanin prepared from the lobster Homarus americanus and casein micelles from cow milk were observed by in situ light scattering. The hemocyanin dodecamer dissociated via a hexamer into monomers in a two-step three-species reaction. The influence of ligands and the effector l-lactate on the dissociation behavior was investigated. While no effect by carbon monoxide after exchanging the ligand oxygen was observed, the addition of the effector l-lactate led to a decrease in the pressure stability. Due to a trimer intermediate which was found to be stabilized by l-lactate, the dissociation reaction in the presence of the effector was analyzed by a three-step four-species reaction. In the case of casein micelles, a two-step dissociation mechanism was found. The stabilizing interactions of casein micelles were identified and separated.  相似文献

The effect of low energy sputtering under grazing incidence upon the surface composition of SiC was investigated by Auger electron spectroscopy. The energy of the sputtering projectiles (He, Ar) varied from 200 to 1500?eV. Peak shifts to the higher energies with increasing argon ion energy were observed for all silicon and carbon Auger transitions. These shifts were explained by enhanced damage of the surface region within the sampling depth of the Auger electrons. The insensitivity of the Auger peak position to the energy of helium ions indicates that the damage state in the surface region does not change with the increasing energy of helium ions. An increase of the carbon concentration with the decrease of the argon energy was observed. The experiments were accompanied by dynamic Monte Carlo simulations by the TRIDYN code.  相似文献
