This study investigates pitch control, register, and singing mode related movements of the laryngo-pharyngeal structures by radiographic methods. One trained female singer served as the subject. The results show that singing voice production involves complex movements in the laryngeal structures. Pitch related increase in the thyro-arytenoid distance (vocal fold length) is nonlinear, slowing down as pitch rises. Similar observations have been made earlier. At the highest pitches, a shortening of the distance can be seen, suggesting the use of alternative pitch control mechanisms. The various observations made support the existence of three registers in this trained female singing voice. Open and covered modes of singing seemed to be distinguishable on the basis of different amounts of inner and outer forces acting on the larynx. The structure of xylan, which has a 1,4‐linked β‐xylose backbone with various substituents, is much more heterogeneous and complex than that of cellulose. Because of this, complete degradation of xylan needs a large number of enzymes that includes GH10, GH11, and GH3 family xylanases together with auxiliary enzymes. Fluorescence‐assisted carbohydrate electrophoresis (FACE) is able to accurately differentiate unsubstituted and substituted xylooligosaccharides (XOS) in the heterogeneous products generated by different xylanases and allows changes in concentrations of specific XOS to be analyzed quantitatively. Based on a quantitative analysis of XOS profiles over time using FACE, we have demonstrated that GH10 and GH11 family xylanases immediately degrade xylan into sizeable XOS, which are converted into smaller XOS in a much lower speed. The shortest substituted XOS produced by hydrolysis of the substituted xylan backbone by GH10 and GH11 family xylanases were MeGlcA2Xyl3 and MeGlcA2Xyl4, respectively. The unsubstituted xylan backbone was degraded into xylose, xylobiose, and xylotriose by both GH10 and GH11 family xylanases; the product profiles are not family‐specific but, instead, depend on different subsite binding affinities in the active sites of individual enzymes. Synergystic action between xylanases and β‐xylosidase degraded MeGlcA2Xyl4 into xylose and MeGlcA2Xyl3 but further degradation of MeGlcA2Xyl3 required additional enzymes. We analyze a doubly-resonant type II phase-matched optical parametric oscillator that includes an intracavity waveplate for inducing mutual injection locking between the signal and the idler. The intracavity waveplate provides a linear coupling between the normally orthogonally polarized signal and idler fields and allows for mode locking at frequency degeneracy. Under mode locked conditions the signal–idler phase difference is locked and the optical parametric oscillator becomes self-phase locked. The signal–idler phase can be adjusted by changing the operating point within the locking range. Two self-phase locked modes with different thresholds and signal–idler phases are possible. At certain gyrotron operating conditions, mode cooperation instead of mode competition takes place between a fundamental and a second harmonic mode. This means the phase bunching of a gyrating electron beam under the second harmonic operation reduces the starting current for the fundamental operation and increases total output power as well as beam efficiency. The shape and microstructure in laser-induction hybrid cladding were investigated, in which the cladding material was provided by means of three different methods including the powder feeding, cold pre-placed coating (CPPC) and thermal pre-placed coating (TPPC). Moreover, the modes of energy action in laser-induction hybrid cladding were also studied. The results indicate that the cladding material supplying method has an important influence on the shape and microstructure of coating. The influence is decided by the mode of energy action in laser-induction hybrid cladding. During the TPPC hybrid cladding of Ni-based alloy, the laser and induction heating are mainly performed on coating. During the CPPC hybrid cladding of Ni-based alloy, the laser and induction heating are mainly performed on coating and substrate surface, respectively. In powder feeding hybrid cladding, a part of laser is absorbed by the powder particles directly, while the other part of laser penetrating powder cloud radiates on the molten pool. Meanwhile, the induction heating is entirely performed on the substrate. In addition, the wetting property on the interface is improved and the metallurgical bond between the coating and substrate is much easier to form. Therefore, the powder feeding laser-induction hybrid cladding has the highest cladding efficiency and the best bond property among three hybrid cladding methods. 相似文献

We have investigated mode locking resonance of a driven vortex lattice in an amorphous MoGe film by means of rf impedance measurements. This technique allows us to detect directly the lattice motion in response to a rf current superimposed on top of a dc current. At low rf currents the resonance appears as jumps (dips) in real (imaginary) part of rf impedance Z. On increasing rf current, the jump height in the real part of Z at a given resonant condition decreases monotonically, whereas the imaginary part of Z exhibits a transformation from the dip to peak behaviors. Namely, the resonant feature changes from capacitive to inductive responses, on increasing rf current. This behavior implies variations in the phase of rf current relative to that of the lattice velocity modulated by the pinning potential. 相似文献

This paper introduces a theoretical study of longitudinal mode competition in semiconductor lasers subject to optical feedback. The study is based on a model of time-delay multimode rate equations taking into account both symmetric and asymmetric suppressions of modal gain. The model is numerically solved and applied to the case of a short-external cavity. Mode competition is characterized along the feedback-induced period-doubling route to chaos as well as under chaotic dynamics. Contributions of symmetric and asymmetric gain suppressions to both mode dynamics and modal operation under OFB are clarified. The results show that under chaotic dynamics, mode competition induces multimode hopping giving rise to asymmetric multimode output spectra. In regimes of continuous-wave operation, mode competition supports single-mode oscillation, and the side-mode suppression ratio improves with the increase of feedback. In the regime of strong feedback, the lasing mode moves to either long- or short-wavelength side in a seemingly random fashion, which is strongly related to asymmetric gain suppression. 相似文献
