Aircraft metal components and structures are susceptible to environmental degradation throughout their original design life and in many cases their extended lives.This paper summarizes the results of an experimental program to evaluate the ability of Supersonic Particle Deposition(SPD),also known as cold spray,to extend the limit of validity(LOV)of aircraft structural components and to restore the structural integrity of corroded panels.In this study the potential for the SPD to seal the mechanically fastened joints and for this seal to remain intact even in the presence of multi-site damage(MSD)has been evaluated.By sealing the joint the onset of corrosion damage in the joint can be significantly retarded,possibly even eliminated,thereby dramatically extending the LOV of mechanically fastened joints.The study also shows that SPD can dramatically increase the damage tolerance of badly corroded wing skins. 相似文献

History and development of the tangent modulus from the origins to the recent nonsmooth damaging versions are presented. Load history and stability analyses of structures of nonlinear reversible or irreversible materials are based on the concept of tangent modulus. Generally, instantaneously changing tangent modulus is needed and the solution yields iteration process. In the case of inelastic problems, the switch from loading to unloading of the material behaviour results in nonsmooth material functions. Nonsmooth, generally saw-tooth like behaviour happens in composite, laminated or rock type materials, or in the interaction of concrete and the reinforcement, too. Recently, damage and localization are in the focus of structural analyses, extending the tangent modulus to the negative cases, as well. Consequently, an overview of the history and development of the tangent modulus containing the recent modifications seems to be necessary. On the other hand, the more than a century long history of the tangent modulus is a marvellous study of the parallel development of mechanics and mathematics, by following the mutual inspiring effect of them through the activity of such pioneers like P.D. The application of the previously developed 3D varionational analysis approach to the investigation of crack propagation in composite bonded joints is presented. In this application, the propagation of three different types of a 2D planar crack (adhesive, cohesive, and interfacial) is modeled by relaxing the respective continuity conditions for displacements between adjacent bricks in the mosaic structure. The crack propagation process is then characterized by the release rate of the total potential energy between two consecutive states of the mosaic body with different crack lengths. Numerical examples illustrate the 3D analysis of double-lap adhesively bonded joints with unidirectional and cross-ply laminated composite adherends. The numerical results provide an illustration of various characteristics of the crack propagation process. The values of the ultimate failure load predicted by analyzing the initial stage of crack propagation are found to be in a good agreement with experimental data. 相似文献

A quasi-isotropic composite laminate/adherend of IM6/3501-6 and a composite bonded specimen were manufactured and tested. The bonded specimen was fabricated by postbonding composite adherends together using a 177°C adhesive resin. Predictions for the residual curing strains in the composite adherends and the adhesively bonded composite specimen were performed using a thermomechanical linearly elastic analysis. The analysis was performed using a computer program based on a polynomial spline displacement approximation method [1]. The residual strains of the specimens were measured using the moiré interferometry technique. Diffraction gratings were replicated at room temperature onto the edges of polished laminated adherends and on the edge of a fully cured adhesively bonded specimen. The specimens were cut through their entire thickness in the middle of the diffraction grating area, resulting in a redistribution of the residual curing stresses, with corresponding changes in the strain field at the edges of the cut. A full-field deformation pattern was obtained in the grating area by analyzing the recorded fringe patterns. The deformation field induced by the cut in the laminated adherends and the adhesive bondline were estimated by the linear thermomechanical analysis. A good agreement between the analysis and the experimental results was obtained. 相似文献

This paper deals with the modeling of a multibody system in which some pairs of bodies are connected by more than one joints with the same kinematic constraints. In such system, the redundant joints must be removed out artificially to ensure the solvable condition of the equations of motion being satisfied. It is believed but not obvious that the redundant joints have no effect on the system acceleration. We give a strict positive proof of this argument and present a method to avoid the ambiguity in the reaction forces of redundant joints through contact analysis of joints. 相似文献

为了揭示在役混凝土电杆连接接头的破坏机理和承载性能,进行了6根两类不同杆长、跨中带钢圈接头的混凝土电杆的抗弯承载力试验,通过试验观察了各试件的受力全过程和破坏形态,获取了弯矩-挠度曲线、裂缝宽度-弯矩曲线、刚度退化规律曲线以及极限弯矩等重要指标.对比分析了两种杆长试件的承载力和刚度变化规律,并通过试验拟合,提出了相关刚度退化规律公式.研究结果表明,试件所具有的破坏形态大多为混凝土拉裂、接头钢圈不屈服,破坏具有明显的脆性;截面的平均应变符合平截面假定;杆长较短试件的极限承载力显著大于较长杆长的试件;裂缝宽度-弯矩曲线大致经历了4个阶段:即未开裂阶段、逐渐增长阶段、稳定发展阶段、快速开裂阶段;杆长较短试件的初始弹性刚度以及弹塑性刚度都比较长杆长试件的大;电杆连接接头的相对刚域范围对杆身受力性能具有极大的影响. 相似文献

Dynamic analysis of planar mechanisms with revolute clearance joints based on two evaluation indices
Joint clearance is one of the most important factors that influence the dynamic performance of a mechanical system. In this study, a quantitative analysis method, which contains two clearance effect evaluation indices that can better evaluate influence of clearance joints on the dynamic performance of the mechanisms, is proposed. A dynamic modeling approach of planar mechanisms with clearance joints is introduced. A crank-slider mechanism with multiple clearance revolute joints is studied to support the proposed analysis methodology.
