In this Letter, the Bäcklund transformation for the (2+1)-Calogero equation is presented in the bilinear form. Armed with the computer algebra system Maple, using a direct algebraic substitution method, we obtain Lie point symmetries, Lie symmetry groups and the corresponding symmetry reductions of one component nonlinear integrable and nonintegrable equations only by clicking the ‘Enter' key. In this Letter, a mathematical model of the problem of prey and predator is presented and He's variational iteration method is employed to compute an approximation to the solution of the system of nonlinear differential equations governing the problem. The results are compared with the results obtained by Adomian decomposition method and homotopy perturbation method. Comparison of the methods show that He's variational iteration method is a powerful method for obtaining approximate solutions to nonlinear equations and their systems.  相似文献

We demonstrate in theory and experiment the use of a reflective Fabry-Perot interferometer to precisely determine the far-infrared reflectance of smooth metal surfaces. The absorption loss in the metal is amplified and thus conveniently measuredon resonance whereas the 100% reflectance reference is takenoff resonance. We obtain the bright matter wave solitons in Bose–Einstein condensates from a trivial input solution by solving the time dependent Gross–Pitaevskii (GP) equation with quadratic potential and exponentially varying scattering length. We observe that the matter wave density of bright soliton increases with time by virtue of the exponentially increasing scattering length. We also understand that the matter wave densities of bright soliton trains remain finite despite the exchange of atoms during interaction and they travel along different trajectories (diverge) after interaction. We also observe that their amplitudes continue to fluctuate with time. For exponentially decaying scattering lengths, instability sets in the condensates. However, the scattering length can be suitably manipulated without causing the explosion or the collapse of the condensates.  相似文献

Spitzer’s identity describes the position of a reflected random walk over time in terms of a bivariate transform. Among its many applications in probability theory are congestion levels in queues and random walkers in physics. We present a derivation of Spitzer’s identity for random walks with bounded jumps to the left, only using basic properties of analytic functions and contour integration. The main novelty is a reversed approach that recognizes a factored polynomial expression as the outcome of Cauchy’s formula.  相似文献

It is shown that the Kronecker product can be applied to construct a new integrable coupling system of discrete soliton equation hierarchy in this Letter. A direct application to the generalized Toda lattice spectral problem leads to a novel integrable coupling system. It is also indicated that the study of integrable couplings by using of the Kronecker product is an efficient and straightforward method.  相似文献
