Quantum computers hold the promise of solving certain computational tasks much more efficiently than classical computers. We review recent experimental advances towards a quantum computer with trapped ions. In particular, various implementations of qubits, quantum gates and some key experiments are discussed. Furthermore, we review some implementations of quantum algorithms such as a deterministic teleportation of quantum information and an error correction scheme.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline La1−xBaxMnO3 (0.0≤x≤0.3) manganites have been prepared by a simple and instantaneous solution combustion method, which is a low temperature initiated synthetic route to obtain fine-grained powders with relatively high surface area. The phase purity and crystal structure of the combustion products are carried out by powder X-ray diffraction. The as-made nanopowders are in cubic phase. On calcination to 900 °C, barium doped manganites retain cubic phase, whereas barium free manganite transformed to rhombohedral phase. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) results revealed that the combustion-derived compounds are agglomerated with fine primary particles. The doped manganites have surface area in the range 24-44 m2/g. The surface area of the manganites increases with barium content, whereas it decreases on calcination. Both undoped and doped lanthanum manganites show two active IR vibrational modes at 400 and 600 cm−1. The low temperature resistivity measurements have been carried out by four-probe method down to 77 K. All the samples exhibit metal-insulator behaviour and metal-insulator transition temperature (TM-I) in the range 184-228 K and it is interesting to note that, as the barium content increases the TM-I shifts to lower temperature side. The maximum TM-I of 228 K is observed for La0.9Ba0.1MnO3 sample.  相似文献

We have studied RMnO3 manganites (R = Pr, Sm, Eu, Tb, Y) Raman excitations in the 200–2800 cm-1 range as a function of temperature. Combinations of phonon energies are observed up to the fourth order, indicating the presence of electron-phonon coupling. In comparison to Γ-point phonon combinations, double phonon excitations appear to be blue shifted in large size rare earth ion compounds. The phonon combination intensities decrease rapidly with their increasing order, confirming other studies which conclude that the electron-phonon coupling is not as strong as supposed in the localized limit. Moreover, different intensity order dependences are observed between the phonon combination and the so-called Jahn-Teller mode. These effects are better described in the orbiton-phonon coupling scheme.  相似文献

The electrical and magnetic properties of Pr-doped Ruddlesden-Popper manganates with the formula, CaO(Pr0.08Ca0.92MnO3)n (n=1,2,3 and ∞) have been investigated. The electrical conductivity of the samples increases with the number of perovksite slabs sandwiched between the rock-salt-like CaO layers. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show an anomalous behavior for the n=1 composition which is attributed to the near absence of ferromagnetic correlations in a two-dimensional system. The magnetic behavior of other members can, however, be understood on the basis of a ‘ferromagnetic-droplet’ model. Since the number of electrons per perovskite slab is invariant across the series, the electronic properties are readily correlated to the phase space available for exchange interactions.  相似文献

Specular reflectivity, diffuse scattering at glancing incidence and angle-dependent total-reflection X-ray fluorescence are complementary techniques for the investigation of layered materials. La0.7Ce0.3MnO3 epitaxial films were successfully fabricated via a pulsed laser deposition method by controlling the experimental conditions. A series of experiments with varying the oxygen pressure and the substrate temperature demonstrated that the use of appropriate conditions is crucial for fabricating the epitaxial thin films. The existence of such suitable conditions was thermodynamically interpreted in terms of the stability of Mn2+ ion. Both XRD and EPMA measurements indicated that La0.7Ce0.3MnO3 thin films fabricated herein form single phases, although it was difficult to present the direct experimental evidence to prove that Ce ion can really exist within the perovskite structure. The resultant films with oxygen annealing showed a metal-insulator transition and ferromagnetic property with Curie temperature of 275 K.  相似文献

Single crystals of La0.75Y0.05Sr0.2 MnO3 have been grown by the floating zone technique. The yttrium distribution in the radial and axial directions in the crystals was studied for different growth rates. The sample grown at high rate showed inhomogeneity in the yttrium content in the growth direction, while the sample grown at relatively low rate was homogeneous in the growth direction, but demonstrated compositional separation between the Y-poor central part and Y-enriched peripheral part in the perpendicular plane. The compositional separation led to magnetic inhomogeneity.  相似文献

Polycrystalline samples with nominal composition of La0.7Ca0.3Mn1−xVxO3 (0?x?0.2) sintered in air were investigated by ac susceptibility, dc magnetization, magnetoresistance (MR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and differential thermal analysis (DTA) measurements. It is found that V could not substitute for Mn to form La0.7Ca0.3Mn1−xVxO3 phase when the samples are sintered in air. The obtained samples contain several phases such as (La, Ca)Mn1−δO3, LaCa3V3O12, Mn3O4 phases, etc. and constitute multi-phase composites. The Curie temperature TC and spontaneous magnetization of the composites decrease, and the resistance of the composites increases as the V content increases. The addition of V may effectively improve the low-field MR response at low temperatures due to the variation in the microstructure of the composites.  相似文献
