Glued-diaphragm fibre optic pressure sensors that utilize standard telecommunications components which are based on Fabry–Perot
interferometry are appealing in a number of respects. Principally, they have high spatial and temporal resolution and are
low in cost. These features potentially make them well suited to operation in extreme environments produced in short-duration
high-enthalpy wind tunnel facilities where spatial and temporal resolution are essential, but attrition rates for sensors
are typically very high. The sensors we consider utilize a zirconia ferrule substrate and a thin copper foil which are bonded
together using an adhesive. The sensors show a fast response and can measure fluctuations with a frequency up to 250 kHz.
The sensors also have a high spatial resolution on the order of 0.1 mm. However, with the interrogation and calibration processes
adopted in this work, apparent errors of up to 30% of the maximum pressure have been observed. Such errors are primarily caused
by mechanical hysteresis and adhesive viscoelasticity. If a dynamic calibration is adopted, the maximum measurement error
can be limited to about 10% of the maximum pressure. However, a better approach is to eliminate the adhesive from the construction
process or design the diaphragm and substrate in a way that does not require the adhesive to carry a significant fraction
of the mechanical loading.

Based on the equivalent circuit theory, the load characteristics of high power piezoelectric ultrasonic sandwich transducers are studied. Two types of loads are studied. One is liquid load as in ultrasonic cleaning, and the other is solid load as in ultrasonic drilling and machining. The effect of load and structure of the transducer on the resonance frequency of the transducer is analyzed. It is shown that the effect of load on the resonance frequency of sandwich transducers with different structures is different. For liquid load as in ultrasonic cleaning, the effect of the load on the resonance frequency of the sandwich transducer with symmetrical structure is the largest. It is the smallest for the transducer with its displacement node in the back metal cylinder. For solid load as in ultrasonic drilling and machining, the effect of the load on the resonance frequency of the sandwich transducer with its displacement node in the front metal cylinder is the largest. It is also the smallest for the transducer with its displacement node in the back metal cylinder. On the other hand, for some applications, such as ultrasonic drilling, when the lateral dimension of the tool is much less than that of the transducer, its effect on the resonance frequency of the transducer is small. High frequency ultrasonic imaging (e.g. >30 MHz) from blood is difficult due to its tenuous backscattered pressure and the interference from adjacent tissues as well. To increase the sensitivity focused transducer has to be used, thus raising the complexity of interpreting the received signals. A numerical simulation of the ultrasonic scattering property from erythrocyte and rouleaux based on boundary element method was performed with experimental results based on a modified substitution method. The results (proportional relationship between backscattered pressure and frequency and the frequency limit for Rayleigh scattering) closely coincide with experimental data for erythrocyte. Rouleaux model results also show the dependence of degree of red cell aggregation on backscattering properties. The boundary element method serves as a good means to calculate the acoustic scattering from blood cells under arbitrary incident waves. 相似文献

A novel nano-tool based on metal clusters enables the transduction of changes of biorecognitive binding as well as conformation quantitatively into an optical signal which can be observed directly as a color change of a sensor-chip surface.Proteins including various enzymes and serum proteins were spotted via micro-arraying onto the chip surface forming monolayer and thin film dots. Multi-layered (up to 300 nm thick) nano-gel-pads were stabilized by photo crosslinking the protein dots with UV-light. By deposition of metal-nano clusters, synthesized via chemical means or sputter coating on top of photo-crosslinked macromolecules an optical resonance effect was obtained.The response of the novel surface enhanced absorption cluster sensor-chip was transduced spectroscopically in the visible and IR range of the spectrum via an 8 m resolution reflectance scanner. 相似文献
