We prove sharp regularity results for classes of strongly singular Radon transforms on the Heisenberg group by means of oscillatory integrals. We show that the problem in question can be effectively treated by establishing uniform estimates for certain oscillatory integrals whose canonical relations project with two-sided fold singularities; this new approach also allows us to treat operators which are not necessarily translation invariant.

We prove a generalization conjectured by Aschenbrenner and Schoutens (2003) of the Hochster-Roberts-Boutot-Kawamata Theorem: let be a pure homomorphism of equicharacteristic zero Noetherian local rings. If is regular, then is pseudo-rational, and if is moreover -Gorenstein, then it is pseudo-log-terminal.

Beginning in 2006, G. Gentili and D. C. Struppa developed a theory of regular quaternionic functions with properties that recall classical results in complex analysis. For instance, in each Euclidean ball B(0, R) centered at 0 the set of regular functions coincides with that of quaternionic power series $\sum _{n \in {\mathbb {N}}} q^n a_n$ converging in B(0, R). In 2009 the author proposed a classification of singularities of regular functions as removable, essential or as poles and studied poles by constructing the ring of quotients. In that article, not only the statements, but also the proving techniques were confined to the special case of balls B(0, R). Quite recently, F. Colombo, G. Gentili and I. Sabadini (2010) and the same authors in collaboration with D. C. Struppa (2009) identified a larger class of domains, on which the theory of regular functions is natural and not limited to quaternionic power series. The present article studies singularities in this new context, beginning with the construction of the ring of quotients and of Laurent‐type expansions at points p other than the origin. These expansions, which differ significantly from their complex analogs, allow a classification of singularities that is consistent with the one given in 2009. Poles are studied, as well as essential singularities, for which a version of the Casorati‐Weierstrass Theorem is proven.  相似文献

A ‘resolution’ of the interior singularity of the spherically symmetric Schwarzschild solution of the Einstein equations for the gravitational field of a point-particle is carried out entirely and solely by finitistic and algebraic means. To this end, the background differential spacetime manifold and, in extenso, Differential Calculus-free purely algebraic (:sheaf-theoretic) conceptual and technical machinery of Abstract Differential Geometry (ADG) is employed. As in previous works [Mallios, A. and Raptis, I. (2001). Finitary spacetime sheaves of quantum causal sets: Curving quantum causality. International Journal of Theoretical Physics, 40, 1885 [gr-qc/0102097]; Mallios, A. and Raptis, I. (2002). Finitary Čech-de Rham cohomology. International Journal of Theoretical Physics, 41, 1857 [gr-qc/0110033]; Mallios, A. and Raptis, I. (2003). Finitary, causal and quantal vacuum Einstein gravity. International Journal of Theoretical Physics 42, 1479 [gr-qc/0209048]], which this paper continues, the starting point for the present application of ADG is Sorkin's finitary (:locally finite) poset (:partially ordered set) substitutes of continuous manifolds in their Gel'fand-dual picture in terms of discrete differential incidence algebras and the finitary spacetime sheaves thereof. It is shown that the Einstein equations hold not only at the finitary poset level of ‘discrete events,’ but also at a suitable ‘classical spacetime continuum limit’ of the said finitary sheaves and the associated differential triads that they define ADG-theoretically. The upshot of this is two-fold: On the one hand, the field equations are seen to hold when only finitely many events or ‘degrees of freedom’ of the gravitational field are involved, so that no infinity or uncontrollable divergence of the latter arises at all in our inherently finitistic-algebraic scenario. On the other hand, the law of gravity—still modelled in ADG by a differential equation proper—does not break down in any (differential geometric) sense in the vicinity of the locus of the point-mass as it is traditionally maintained in the usual manifold-based analysis of spacetime singularities in General Relativity (GR). At the end, some brief remarks are made on the potential import of ADG-theoretic ideas in developing a genuinely background-independent Quantum Gravity (QG). A brief comparison between the ‘resolution’ proposed here and a recent resolution of the inner Schwarzschild singularity by Loop QG means concludes the paper. The goal of this paper is study the global solvability of a class of complex vector fields of the special form L=∂/∂t+(a+ib)(x)∂/∂x, a,bC(S1;R), defined on two-torus T2R2/2πZ2. The kernel of transpose operator is described and the solvability near the characteristic set is also studied.  相似文献

Let be a smooth family of surfaces whose general fibre is a smooth surface of ℙ3 and whose special fibre has two smooth components, intersecting transversally along a smooth curve R. We consider the Universal Severi-Enriques variety on . The general fibre of is the variety of curves on in the linear system with k cusps and δ nodes as singularities. Our problem is to find all irreducible components of the special fibre of . In this paper, we consider only the cases (k, δ) = (0, 1) and (k, δ) = (1, 0). In particular, we determine all singular curves on the special fibre of which, counted with the right multiplicity, are a limit of 1-cuspidal curves on the general fibre of .   相似文献

This is the second of a series of two papers that studies the fractional porous medium equation, t u + ( Δ ) σ ( | u | m 1 u ) = 0 $\partial _t u +(-\Delta )^\sigma (|u|^{m-1}u )=0$ with m > 0 $m>0$ and σ ( 0 , 1 ] $\sigma \in (0,1]$ , posed on a Riemannian manifold with isolated conical singularities. The first aim of the article is to derive some useful properties for the Mellin–Sobolev spaces including the Rellich–Kondrachov theorem and Sobolev–Poincaré, Nash and Super Poincaré type inequalities. The second part of the article is devoted to the study the Markovian extensions of the conical Laplacian operator and its fractional powers. Then based on the obtained results, we establish existence and uniqueness of a global strong solution for L $L_\infty -$ initial data and all m > 0 $m>0$ . We further investigate a number of properties of the solutions, including comparison principle, L p $L_p-$ contraction and conservation of mass. Our approach is quite general and thus is applicable to a variety of similar problems on manifolds with more general singularities.  相似文献
