AbstractIn the enthalpy relaxation of poly(vinyl chloride), a decrease in enthalpy upon the isothermal ageing was measured using the differential scanning calorimetry method as a function of ageing time (tA) and ageing temperature. The range of the ageing temperature was from 56?°C (Tg ? 25?°C) to 72?°C (Tg ? 9?°C) where Tg denotes the glass transition temperature. The limiting value of the decrease in enthalpy was determined by applying a stretched exponential function to the measured enthalpy data. The relaxation function (?) was derived from the measured enthalpy and the construction of a master curve was tried by shifting the ? ? tA curves of the respective ageing temperatures horizontally. Although there was no agreement between the shift factors (aT) and the relaxation times of the ? ? tA curves, the superposition was successfully constructed and the aT values obtained for the poly(vinyl chloride) sample were found to be comparable to those reported for viscoelastic experiments over a broad temperature range above and below Tg carried out for different polymers. The origin of the decrease in enthalpy was briefly discussed in terms of the chain dynamics in the isothermal condition. 相似文献

This paper presents a lattice Boltzmann (LB) method based study aimed
at numerical simulation of aeroacoustic phenomenon in flows around a symmetric
obstacle. To simulate the compressible flow accurately, a potential energy double-distribution-function
(DDF) lattice Boltzmann method is used over the entire computational
domain from the near to far fields. The buffer zone and absorbing boundary
condition is employed to eliminate the non-physical reflecting. Through the direct numerical
simulation, the flow around a circular cylinder at $Re$=150, $M$=0.2 and the
flow around a NACA0012 airfoil at $Re$=10000, $M$=0.8, $α$=$0^◦$ are investigated. The
generation and propagation of the sound produced by the vortex shedding are reappeared
clearly. The obtained results increase our understanding of the characteristic

For central nervous system disorders'' rehabilitation, it is important to accurately understand motor control and implement an appropriate motor learning process to induce neuroplastic changes. The neurophysiological studies have revealed that neural control mechanisms are crucial during both the onset of muscular activities and muscle release after contraction. When performing various movements during daily activities, muscle relaxation control enables precise force output and timing control. Moreover, surround inhibition is a functional mechanism in the motor system. Surround inhibition of the motor system may be involved in the selective execution of desired movements. This review demonstrates cortical excitability resulting from motor learning, movement control mechanisms including muscle relaxation and the suppression of nontarget muscle groups, and the voluntary drive''s importance that is required for movement. 相似文献

Electrical conductivity, internal friction techniques and dilatometer have been used to investigate the oxygen relaxation, phase transition and thermal expansion behavior of GdBaCo2O5 + δ. The main electronic charge carriers in GdBaCo2O5 + δ are electronic holes, which could be assigned to the formation of Co4+. The oxygen exchange kinetics intensely depends on oxygen partial pressure and is also closely related to temperature. Both electrical conductivity and internal friction give rise to an abnormal at about 75 °C, which are related to the insulator-metal transition occurring in GdBaCo2O5 + δ. One large relaxation internal friction peak, due to the motion of oxygen within Gd-O plane, is also found in the oxide. The average thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of GdBaCo2O5 + δ is about 21.4 × 10−6 K−1 between 500 °C and 900 °C. 相似文献

We report time-resolved transient spectral hole burning of Verneuil-grown 20 ppm and ca. 0.6 ppm ruby (Al2O3:Cr3+) in zero field and low magnetic fields B∥c at 4 K. The hole-burning spectroscopy of the 20 ppm sample implies relatively rapid cross relaxation in the 4A2 ground state on the ∼1 ms timescale both in zero field and in low magnetic fields, B∥c, up to 0.2 T. In the 0.6 ppm sample, side-hole to anti-hole conversion is observed both in zero field and in low magnetic fields. This conversion is caused by population storage in 4A2 ground state levels. Spin-lattice relaxation, on the 200 ms timescale, is directly observed from the time dependence of the resonant hole and anti holes in B∥c, consistent with a very low cross-relaxation rate. However, in zero field cross relaxation in the 4A2 ground state is still a significant relaxation mechanism for the 0.6 ppm sample resulting in hole decay in ∼50 ms. 相似文献

We have used a novel fibre-optic low-energy electron diffraction (FO-LEED) instrument, capable of low flux measurements that minimise electron beam damage to surface overlayers, to study methanethiolate (CH3-S-) structural phases formed on Cu{1 1 1} at temperatures between 110 and 300 K. Three structural phases were seen: a (√3 × √3)R30° phase that forms at 110-140 K; a (4 × 4) phase which was observed transiently at 110 K; and a pseudo-{1 0 0} reconstructed phase which forms at room temperature. We discuss these in the context of previous studies of this system, and demonstrate the ability of the FO-LEED instrument to record high-quality LEED patterns and intensity data from a strongly beam-sensitive surface. 相似文献

Thermally stimulated depolarization currents, TSDC, wide-angle X-ray scattering, WAXS, differential scanning calorimetry,
DSC, and polarized light optical microscopy, PLOM, have been used to examine poly(L-lactide)-b -poly(
-caprolactone) diblock copolymers in a wide composition range. Both components are crystallizable and the miscibility in
the amorphous phase has been determined from the behavior of the primary relaxations which are the dielectric manifestation
of the glass transition, and also from the superstructural morphology revealed by PLOM and the compositional dependence of
the melting points as determined by DSC. Distinct segmental mobilities in the amorphous phase which can be well resolved by
TSDC are present; the
mode of the slower component shifts to lower temperatures as the PCL content increases while the glass transition of neat
PCL is present for all compositions. A relaxation times bimodal distribution is apparent for PCL-rich copolymers. The composition
dependence of the multiple glass transitions detected in these weakly segregated copolymers are predicted by the self-concentration

The steady-state and dynamic fluorescence spectral properties of 2-dimethylamino-6-lauroylnaphthalene (LAURDAN) and several other naphthalene derivatives are summarized to illustrate their sensitivity to the polarity of the environment. Results obtained both in solvents of different polarity and in phospholipid vesicles in two phase states are presented. The emission red shift observed in polar solvents and in the phospholipid liquid–crystalline phase is explained on the basis of dipolar relaxation of solvent molecules surrounding the fluorescent naphthalene moiety of these probes. In phospholipid environments, experimental evidence is shown that excludes the intramolecular relative reorientation of the dimethylamino and carbonyl groups in the naphthalene and the reorientation of the entire fluorescent moiety. The solvent dipolar relaxation observed for LAURDAN and PRODAN in phospholipid bilayers has been attributed to a small number of water molecules present at the membrane interface. A comparison between LAURDAN emission in phospholipid vesicles prepared in D2O and in H2O is also presented. The definition and the derivation of the generalized polarization function are also discussed. 相似文献

We examine the behaviour of the concentration profiles of particles with repulsive interactions diffusing on a host lattice.
At low temperature, the diffusion process is strongly influenced by the presence of ordered domains. We use mean field equations
and Monte-Carlo simulations to describe the various effects which influence the kinetic behaviour. An effective diffusion
coefficient is determined analytically and is compared with the simulations. Finite gradient effects on the ordered domains
and on the diffusion are discussed. The kinetics studied is relevant for superionic conductors, for intercalation and also
for the diffusion of particles adsorbed on a substrate.
