We have theoretically investigated the electronic properties and nonlinear optical rectification spectra of GaAs/AlGaAs anisotropic quantum ring, modelled by an outer ellipsis and an inner circle, in connection to the presence of a donor off-centre impurity, structural distortions and in-plane electric field. The one-electron energy spectrum and wave functions are found using the adiabatic approximation and the finite element method within the effective-mass model. The energy spectrum of concentric ring reveals an anomalous oscillatory behaviour in the region of relatively small values of the electric field (< 12?kV/cm) followed by linear Stark effect at higher field values. We showed that this unusual behaviour is strongly affected by the ratio of the outer/inner ring radii, the displacement of the inner circle (eccentricity) along the x or y axis and the impurity presence. The related nonlinear optical rectification spectra present maxima whose positions mirror this oscillatory behaviour and consequently can be used as an excellent tool to distinguish the presence of an impurity or the direction of the eccentricity. 相似文献

Simultaneous effects of an on-center hydrogenic impurity and band edge non-parabolicity on intersubband optical absorption coefficients and refractive index changes of a typical GaAs/Al x Ga 1 x As spherical quantum dot are theoretically investigated,using the Luttinger-Kohn effective mass equation.So,electronic structure and optical properties of the system are studied by means of the matrix diagonalization technique and compact density matrix approach,respectively.Finally,effects of an impurity,band edge non-parabolicity,incident light intensity and the dot size on the linear,the third-order nonlinear and the total optical absorption coefficients and refractive index changes are investigated.Our results indicate that,the magnitudes of these optical quantities increase and their peaks shift to higher energies as the influences of the impurity and the band edge non-parabolicity are considered.Moreover,incident light intensity and the dot size have considerable effects on the optical absorption coefficients and refractive index changes. 相似文献

Using DMol and the discrete variational method within the framework of the density functional theory,we study the alloying effects of Nb,Ti,and V in the [100](010) edge dislocation core of NiAl.We find that when Nb(Ti,V) is substituted for Al in the center-Al,the binding energy of the system reduces 3.00 eV(2.98 eV,2.66 eV).When Nb(Ti,V) is substituted for Ni in the center-Ni,the binding energy of the system reduces only 0.47 eV(0.16 eV,0.09 eV).This shows that Nb(Ti,V) exhibits a strong Al site preference,which agrees with the experimental and other theoretical results.The analyses of the charge distribution,the interatomic energy and the partial density of states show that some charge accumulations appear between the impurity atom and Ni atoms,and the strong bonding states are formed between impurity atom and neighbouring host atoms due mainly to the hybridization of 4d5s(3d4s) orbitals of impurity atoms and 3d4s4p orbitals of host Ni atoms.The impurity induces a strong pinning effect on the [100](010) edge dislocation motion in NiAl,which is related to the mechanical properties of the NiAl alloy. 相似文献

Simultaneous effects of conduction band non-parabolicity and hydrostatic pressure on the binding energies of 1S, 2S, and 2P states along with diamagnetic susceptibility of an on-center hydrogenic impurity confined in typical GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs spherical quantum dots are theoretically investigated using the matrix diagonalization method. In this regard, the effect of band non-parabolicity has been performed using the Luttinger-Kohn effective mass equation. The binding energies and the diamagnetic susceptibility of the hydrogenic impurity are computed as a function of the dot radius and different values of the pressure in the presence of conduction band non-parabolicity effect. The results we arrived at are as follows: the incorporation of the band edge non-parabolicity increases the binding energies and decreases the absolute value of the diamagnetic susceptibility for a given pressure and radius; the binding energies increase and the magnitude of the diamagnetic susceptibility reduces with increasing pressure. 相似文献

We investigate the ground-state properties of the Anderson singleimpurity model (finite Coulomb impurity repulsion) with the Coupled ClusterMethod. We consider different CCM reference states and approximation schemes and make comparison with exact Green's function results for the non-interacting model and with Brillouin-Wigner perturbation theory for the full interacting model. Kondo transport properties through a Kondo-type quantum dot (QD) with a side-coupled triple-QD structure are systematically investigated by using the non-equilibrium Green's function method. We firstly derive the formulae of the current, the linear conductance, the transmission coefficient, and the local density of states. Then we carry out the analytical and numerical studies and some universal conductance properties are obtained. It is shown that the number of the conductance valleys is intrinsically determined by the side-coupled QDs and at most equal to the number of the QDs included in theside-coupled structure in the asymmetric limit. In the process of forming the conductance valleys, the side-coupled QD system plays the dominant role while the couplings between the Kondo-type QD and the side-coupled structure play the subsidiary and indispensable roles. To testify the validity of the universal conductance properties, another different kinds of side-coupled triple-QD structures are considered. It should be emphasized that these universal properties are applicable in understanding this kind of systems with arbitrary many-QD side structures. 相似文献

Using the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green function and equation-of-motion
technique, this paper studies the magnetotransport through an Aharonov--Bohm (AB) ring with
parallel double quantum dots coupled to ferromagnetic leads. It calculates
the transmission probability in both the equilibrium and the nonequilibrium
case, analyses the conductance and the tunnel magnetoresistance for
various parameters, and obtains some new results. These results show that this
system is provided with an excellent spin filtering property, and that a large
tunnelling magnetoresistance and a negative tunnelling magnetoresistance can arise
by adjusting relative parameters; these facts indicate that this system is a
possible candidate for spin valve transistors, and has important

This paper investigates the electronic transport properties in an
Aharonov--Bohm interferometer with a quantum dot coupling to left and
right electrodes. By employing cluster expansions, it transforms the equations of
motion of Green's functions into the corresponding
equation of motion of connected Green's functions, which provides a
natural and uniform truncation scheme. With this method under the
Lacroix's truncation approximation, it shows that the asymmetric line
shape of zero bias conductance manifests itself as the Fano effect,
and the Kondo effect has been observed in the narrow peak of
differential conductance curve of the system. Our numerical results
also show that the building of Fano state suppresses the amplitude

We theoretically investigate the Kondo effect of a quantum dot embedded in a mesoscopic Aharonov-Bohm (AB) ring in the presence of the spin flip processes by means of the one-impurity Anderson Hamiltonian. Based on the slave-boson mean-field theory, we find that in this system the persistent current (PC) sensitively depends on the parity and size of the AB ring and can be tuned by the spin-flip scattering (R). In the small AB ring, the PC issuppressed due to the enhancing R weakening the Kondo resonance.On the contrary, in the large AB ring, with R increasing, the peakof PC firstly moves up to max-peak and then down. Especially, the PCphase shift of ø appears suddenly with the proper value of R, implying the existence of the anomalous Kondo effect in this system.
