The slow rate of drop coalescence at 5 C in concentrated corn oil-in-water emulsions stabilised with sodium caseinate, glyceryl monostearate and glyceryl distearate was deduced from changes in the drop size distribution. Both pH and the monoglyceride/diglyceride ratio influenced coalescence. At any pH minimum coalescence was observed at a 5/2 monoglyceride/diglyceride ratio. This was attributed to association of caseinate with a previously formed complex of monoglyceride and diglyceride, so supporting an interpretation previously proposed on the basis of rheological data for the emulsions and for films of caseinate-glycerides at the oil-water interface. 相似文献

A Cartesian decomposition of a coherent configuration is defined as a special set of its parabolics that form a Cartesian decomposition of the underlying set. It turns out that every tensor decomposition of comes from a certain Cartesian decomposition. It is proved that if the coherent configuration is thick, then there is a unique maximal Cartesian decomposition of ; i.e., there is exactly one internal tensor decomposition of into indecomposable components. In particular, this implies an analog of the Krull–Schmidt theorem for the thick coherent configurations. Summary A sequence for the fractionation of the amylasic components from a malted barley extract is proposed using two salt-promoted, adsorption processes: thiophilic interaction chromatography (TIC) and hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC).Two fractions containing -amylase activity were recovered during the thiophilic chromatography; the first was resolved in to -amylase I and -amylase I by HIC on a phenyl-sepharose column; an enrichment factor of 32 was achieved for -amylase I. The other amylasic component eluted from the thiophilic gel was characterized as -amylase II. Summary Two small random peptide libraries, one composed of 4550 dodecapeptides and one of 8000 tripeptides, were synthesized in newly developed credit-card format miniPEPSCAN cards (miniPEPSCAN libraries). Each peptide was synthesized in a discrete well (455 peptides/card). The two miniPEPSCAN libraries were screened with three different monoclonal antibodies (Mabs). Two other random peptide libraries, expressed on the wall of bacteria (recombinant libraries) and composed of 107 hexa- and octapeptides, were screened with the same three Mabs. The aim of this study was to compare the amino acid sequence of peptides selected from small and large pools of random peptides and, in this way, investigate the potential of small random peptide libraries. The screening of the two miniPEPSCAN libraries resulted in the identification of a surprisingly large number of antibody-binding peptides, while the screening of the large recombinant libraries, using the same Mabs, resulted in the identification of only a small number of peptides. The large number of peptides derived from the small random peptide libraries allowed the determination of consensus sequences. These consensus sequences could be related to small linear and nonlinear parts of the respective epitopes. The small number of peptides derived from the large random peptide libraries could only be related to linear epitopes that were previously mapped using small libraries of overlapping peptides covering the antigenic protein. Thus, with respect to the cost and speed of identifying peptides that resemble linear and nonlinear parts of epitopes, small diversity libraries based on synthetic peptides appear to be superior to large diversity libraries based on expression systems.Abbreviations ABTS

We compute the one-dimensional configuration sums of the ABF model using the fermionic technique introduced in part I of this paper. Combined with the results of Andrews, Baxter, and Forrester, we prove polynomial identities for finitizations of the Virasoro characters
as conjectured by Melzer. In the thermodynamic limit these identities reproduce Rogers-Ramanujan-type identities for the unitary minimal Virasoro characters conjectured by the Stony Brook group. A cylindrical waveguide gyro-peniotron amplifier is analysed theoretically in this paper. By a ballistic method and directly using the energy conservation in the beam-wave system, a set of interaction equations for the cylindrical waveguide gyro-peniotron amplifier is derived. Computer simulation shows that under defined conditions an interaction efficiency of 47%, an output power of 240kW at a gain of 22. 5 dB and a 3 dB-instantaneous bandwidth of 1. 9% for a central frequency of 35GHz, TE03 mode gyro-peniotron amplifier could be achieved. To determine the influence of various culture conditions, transformed cells of Escherichia coli expressing recombinant green fluorescent protein (GFPuv) were grown in nine cultures with four variable conditions (storage
of inoculated broth at 4°C prior to incubation, agitation speed, isopropyl-β-d-thiogalactopyranoside [IPTG] concentration, and induction time). The pelleted cells were resuspended in extraction buffer
and subjected to the three-phase partitioning (TPP) extraction method. To determine the most appropriate purification resin,
protein extracts were eluted through one of four types of HiTrap hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) columns prepacked
with methyl, butyl, octyl, or phenyl resins and analyzed further on a 12% sodium dodecylsulfatepolyacrylamidegel. With Coomassie
staining, a single band between 27 (standard GFPuv) and 29 kDa (molecular weight standard) was visualized for every HIC column
sample. TPP extraction with HIC elution provided about 90% of the GFPuv recovered and eight-fold GFPuv enrichment related
to the specific mass. Rotary speed and IPTG concentration showed, respectively, greater negative and positive influences on
GFPuv expression at the beginning of the logarithmic phase for the set culture conditions (37°C, 24-h incubation). 相似文献
