Contrast and sensitivity of the vibration fringes in time-averaged electronic speckle-pattern interferometry: effect of variations of force level

The time averaged frame subtraction technique is improved by subtracting two Bessel fringe patterns at two different force levels. The technique enables significant enhancement of fringe contrast and increased measurement sensitivity. The contrast and sensitivity of the fringes obtained at different force ratios are investigated. Both theoretical and experimental results are presented.     

Shape‐controlled synthesis of Pt nanocrystals: an evolution of the tetrahedral shape

Platinum nanocrystals with sizes smaller than 10 nm are obtained by H₂‐reduction of aqueous K₂PtCl₆ in the presence of different concentrations of poly (N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone; PVP:M_w ≈ 360 000) at pH = 2.5–7.0. Tetrahedral Pt nanocrystals (3–10 nm) are produced with high selectivity (73–83% by number) at moderate PVP:K₂PtCl₆ ratios. The co‐existing round/spheroidal crystallites are found to be smaller than the tetrahedrally shaped ones in the systems of varying K₂PtCl₆:PVP ratios. Careful examinations of the particle size and shape evolution of the crystallites at different stages of the crystal growth with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and ultraviolet–visible absorption spectroscopy (UV–vis) suggest that the tetradedrally shaped Pt crystallites share the same type of nuclei with the round ones at the early stage of the crystal formation. An Estimate for a Fundamental Solution of a Parabolic Equation with Drift on a Riemannian Manifold

We construct a fundamental solution for a parabolic equation with drift on a Riemannian manifold of nonpositive curvature. We obtain some estimates for this fundamental solution that depend on the conditions on the drift field.     

The Spectrum of the Two-Dimensional Periodic Schrödinger Operator

The absence of eigenvalues (of infinite multiplicity) for the two-dimensional periodic Schrödinger operator with a variable metric is proved. The method of proof does not use the change of variables reducing the metric to a scalar form.     

Extended Toda Lattice

We introduce nonlocal flows that commute with those of the classical Toda hierarchy. We define a logarithm of the difference Lax operator and use it to obtain a Lax representation of the new flows.

ON THE EXISTENCE OF POSITIVE ENTIRE SOLUTIONS FOR SINGULAR p-LAPLACE EQUATIONS

In this paper N-dimensional singular, p-Laplace equations of the following form are considered, where p ≥N, β > 0, and f : [0,∞)×(0,∞)×[0, ∞)→[0,∞) is a continuous function. Some sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of infinitely many radially positive entire solutions of the equation which are asymptotic to positive constant multiples of |x|(p-N)/(p-1) for p > N or log|x| for N = p as |x|→∞.     

The kernel theorem for Cauchy ultradistribution

Kernel theorems for spaces of Cauchy ultradistribution, supported by an n-dimensional tube and cone of the product type, are investigated.     

On harmonic analysis of causal operators
