Nickel-promoted ligand-free palladium-catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction

Summary A Ni-promoted ligand free palladium catalyst system for Suzuki coupling of aryl bromides has been developed in high efficiency under mild reaction conditions. It was obtained in situ by introducing NiCl₂ to PdCl₂/PVP using a parallel high-throughput screening technique. A wide range of aryl bromides bearing a variety of functional groups was evaluated.     

Tribromoisocyanuric Acid (TBCA) and Oxone®‐MX Systems as Oxidizing Agents: Oxidative Coupling of Thiols to Their Corresponding Disulfides under Mild and Heterogeneous Conditions

Tribromoisocyanuric acid (TBCA) and Oxone^®‐MX systems were used as effective oxidizing agents for the oxidation of thiols to their corresponding disulfides under mild conditions at room temperature with good to excellent yields.     

Palladium complexes of phosphinamine ligands in the intramolecular asymmetric Heck reaction

The synthesis of two novel cyclisation substrates for the asymmetric intramolecular Heck reaction is reported. Their cyclisation, in addition to a known substrate for cis-decalin formation, were tested with palladium complexes of BINAP and heterobidentate oxazoline-containing ligands. In general BINAP provides a more active catalyst system for the range of substrates tested although excellent enantioselectivities of up to 85% were obtained with the P,N ligands studied. A trend was noted whereby the t-leucine-derived oxazoline ligands were more reactive and enantioselective than the valine-derived analogues. Similarly, the diphenylphosphinoferrocenyloxazoline ligands were more reactive and selective than the corresponding diphenylphosphinophenyloxazoline ligands.     

Synthesis of novel 5,6-substituted furo[2,3-d]pyrimidines via Pd-catalyzed cyclization of alkynylpyrimidinols with aryl iodides

A flexible method for the synthesis of 5,6-disubstituted furo[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives is described. The key step is a palladium-catalyzed arylative cyclization of alkynylpyrimidinols with various aryl iodides, which gave the title compounds in 36-75% yield.     

Reactivity of diazoazoles and azolediazonium salts in <Emphasis Type="Italic">C</Emphasis>-azo coupling reactions

The comparative reactivity of heterocyclic diazo compounds and the corresponding diazonium salts in C-azo coupling reactions was studied using imidazole, pyrazole, and triazole derivatives as examples.The reactivities of pyrazole- and imidazole-derived diazonium salts are much lower than those of thiadiazole- and 1,2,4-triazole-derived diazonium salts but higher than those of pyrrole and indole diazo compounds.__________Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. Suzuki coupling reactions of 2,4,6-trialkoxyphenylboronic acids with enol triflates: asymmetric synthesis of a lactone template for calyxin assemblage

Suzuki coupling reactions between 2,4,6-trialkoxyphenylboronic acids and enol triflates have been found to occur in excellent yield, while the use of an enol tosylate failed to give any of the desired product. This coupling reaction has led to the synthesis of a lactone which could serve as a precursor to several calyxin analogues.     

Polystyrene-supported recyclable palladacycle catalyst for Heck, Suzuki and Sonogashira reactions

A new type of soluble polystyrene-supported palladium complex as an excellent and recyclable palladacycle catalyst was discovered for carboncarbon bond formation in Heck, Suzuki and Sonogashira reactions. Precipitation and filtration process for recycling the catalyst was also achieved.     

An experimental and theoretical study of the Cp2VO2CO: use of 13CO3(2-) for structure investigation of d1-metallocene complexes

EPR study has shown that the anticancer agent vanadocene dichloride (Cp2VCl2) interacts with carbonate contained in physiological solutions. Chelate complex Cp2VO2CO (|A(iso)(51V)| = 175.1 MHz, g(iso) = 1.9861) is the only paramagnetic species formed in the range about the physiological pH (5.5-11.0). The super-hyperfine coupling (|a(iso)(13C)| = 24.1 MHz) was evidenced at measurements using 13C labelled carbonate. The structure of carbonate complex was validated by comparison of observed and theoretical calculated HFC tensors (at the density functional level of theory).

Fluorous Synthesis of Biaryl-Substituted Proline Analogs by 1,3-Dipolar Cycloaddition and Suzuki Coupling Reactions

A solution-phase synthesis of bicyclic prolines containing four points of diversity has been developed by a two-step synthesis involving 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of perfluoroalkylsulfonyl-protected hydroxybenzaldehydes followed by Pd-catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction of fluorous sulfonates with boronic acids. Both reactions are conducted under microwave irradiation and reaction mixtures are purified by solid-phase extractions without performing chromatography.
