The first colour photographs were created by a process introduced by Edmond Becquerel in 1848. The nature of these photochromatic images colours motivated a debate between scientists during the XIXth century, which is still not settled. We present the results of chemical analysis (EDX, HAXPES and EXAFS) and morphology studies (SEM, STEM) aiming at explaining the optical properties of the photochromatic images (UV‐visible spectroscopy and low loss EELS). We rule out the two hypotheses (pigment and interferences) that have prevailed since 1848, respectively based on variations in the oxidation degree of the compound forming the sensitized layer and periodically spaced photolytic silver planes. A study of the silver nanoparticles dispersions contained in the coloured layers showed specific localizations and sizes distributions of the nanoparticles for each colour. These results allow us to formulate a plasmonic hypothesis on the origin of the photochromatic images colours. 相似文献

A nanocage coupling effect from a redox RuII‐PdII metal–organic cage (MOC‐16) is demonstrated for efficient photochemical H2 production by virtue of redox–guest modulation of the photo‐induced electron transfer (PET) process. Through coupling with photoredox cycle of MOC‐16, tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) guests act as electron relay mediator to improve the overall electron transfer efficiency in the host–guest system in a long‐time scale, leading to significant promotion of visible‐light driven H2 evolution. By contrast, the presence of larger TTF‐derivatives in bulk solution without host–guest interactions results in interference with PET process of MOC‐16, leading to inefficient H2 evolution. Such interaction provides an example to understand the interplay between the redox‐active nanocage and guest for optimization of redox events and photocatalytic activities in a confined chemical nanoenvironment. 相似文献

A photoinduced SET process enables the direct B?H bond activation of NHC–boranes. In contrast to common hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) strategies, this photoinduced reaction simply takes advantage of the beneficial redox potentials of NHC–boranes, thus obviating the need for extra radical initiators. The resulting NHC–boryl radical was used for the borylation of a wide range of α‐trifluoromethylalkenes and alkenes with diverse electronic and structural features, providing facile access to highly functionalized borylated molecules. Labeling and photoquenching experiments provide insight into the mechanism of this photoinduced SET pathway. 相似文献

Kinetic isotope effects (KIEs) occurring in mass spectrometry (MS) can provide in‐depth insights into the fragmentation behaviors of compounds of interest in MS. Yet, the fundamentals of KIEs in collision‐induced dissociation (CID) in tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) are unclear, and information about chlorine KIEs (Cl‐KIEs) of organochlorines in MS is particularly scarce. This study investigated the Cl‐KIEs of dichloromethane, trichloroethylene, and tetrachloroethylene during CID using gas chromatography‐electron ionization triple‐quadrupole MS/MS. Cl‐KIEs were evaluated with MS signal intensities. All the organochlorines presented large inverse Cl‐KIEs (<1, the departures of Cl‐KIEs from 1 denote the magnitudes of Cl‐KIEs), showing the largest magnitudes of 0.797, 0.910, and 0.892 at the highest collision energy (60 eV) for dichloromethane, trichloroethylene, and tetrachloroethylene, respectively. For dichloromethane, both intra‐ion and inter‐ion Cl‐KIEs were studied, within the ranges of 0.820–1.020 and 0.797–1.016, respectively, showing both normal and inverse Cl‐KIEs depending on collision energies. The observed Cl‐KIEs generally declined from large normal to extremely large inverse values with increasing collision energies from 0 to 60 eV but were inferred to be independent of MS signal intensities. The Cl‐KIEs are dominated by critical energies at low internal energies of precursor ions, resulting in normal Cl‐KIEs; while at high internal energies, the Cl‐KIEs are controlled by rotational barriers (or looseness/tightness of transition states), which lead to isotope‐competitive reactions in dechlorination and thereby inverse Cl‐KIEs. It is concluded that the Cl‐KIEs may depend on critical energies, bond strengths, available internal energies, and transition state looseness/tightness. The findings of this study yield new insights into the fundamentals of Cl‐KIEs of organochlorines during CID and may be conducive to elucidating the underlying mechanisms of KIEs in collision‐induced and photo‐induced reactions in the actual world. 相似文献

Pharmaceuticals require careful and precise determination of their impurities that might harm the user upon consumption. Although today, the most common technique for impurities identification is liquid chromatography‐mass spectrometry (LC‐MS/MS), it has several downsides due to the nature of the ionization method. Also, the analyses in many cases are targeted thus despite being present, some of the compounds will not be revealed. In this paper, we propose and show a new method for untargeted analysis and identification of impurities in active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The instrument used for these analyses is a novel electron ionization (EI) LC‐MS with supersonic molecular beams (SMB). The EI‐LC‐MS‐SMB was implemented for analyses of several drug samples spiked with an impurity. The instrument provides EI mass spectra with enhanced molecular ions, named Cold EI, which increases the identification probabilities when the compound is identified with the aid of an EI library like National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). We analyzed ibuprofen and its impurities, and both the API and the expected impurity were identified with names and structures by the NIST library. Moreover, other unexpected impurities were found and identified proving the ability of the EI‐LC‐MS‐SMB system for truly untargeted analysis. The results show a broad dynamic range of four orders of magnitude at the same run with a signal‐to‐noise ratio of over 10 000 for the API and almost uniform response. 相似文献

By using in situ aberration‐corrected environmental transmission electron microscopy, for the first time at atomic level, the dynamic evolution of the Cu surface is captured during CO oxidation. Under reaction conditions, the Cu surface is activated, typically involving 2–3 atomic layers with the formation of a reversible metastable phase that only exists during catalytic reactions. The distinctive role of CO and O2 in the surface activation is revealed, which features CO exposure to lead to surface roughening and consequently formation of low‐coordinated Cu atoms, while O2 exposure induces a quasi‐crystalline CuOx phase. Supported by DFT calculations, it is shown that crystalline CuOx reversibly transforms into the amorphous phase, acting as an active species to facilitate the interaction of gas reactants and catalyzing CO oxidation. 相似文献

We propose a straightforward access to a rotating light-emitting device powered by wireless electrochemistry. A magnetic stirrer is used to rotate a light-emitting diode (LED) due to the intrinsic magnetic properties of the tips that contain iron. At the same time, the LED is submitted to an electric field and acts as a bipolar electrode. The electrochemical processes that are coupled on both extremities of the LED drive an electron flow across the device, resulting in light emission. The variation of the LED alignment in time enables an alternating light emission that is directly controlled by the rotation rate. The stirring also enables a continuous mixing of the electrolyte that improves the stability of the output signal. Finally, the LED brightness can readily reveal a change of chemical composition in the electrolyte solution. 相似文献

In order to study collisions between ions and neutrals, a new Guided Ion Beam (GIB) apparatus, called NOVion, has been assembled and tested. The primary purpose of this instrument is to measure absolute cross sections at energies relevant for technical or inter- and circumstellar plasmas. New and improved results are presented for forming H3+ in collisions of H2+ with H2. Between 0.1 eV and 2 eV, our measured effective cross sections are in good overall agreement with most previous measurements. However, at higher energies, our results do not show the steep decline, recommended in the standard literature. After critical evaluation of all experimental and theoretical data, a new analytical function is proposed, describing properly the dependence of the title reaction on the collision energy up to 10 eV. 相似文献

In recent years, elution‐extrusion counter current chromatography has received extensive attention in the separation of complex samples. This article first reviews the development and application of elution‐extrusion counter current chromatography, including its origin, mechanism, advantages and disadvantages, and some representative applications. A sample pretreatment method based on the combination of a three‐phase solvent extraction system and deep eutectic solvent‐based dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction has been introduced for the extraction of four organochlorine pesticides in cocoa samples before their determination by gas chromatography‐electron capture detection. A mixture of sodium chloride, acetonitrile, and potassium hydroxide solution is added to cocoa bean or powder. After vortexing and centrifugation of the mixture, the collected upper phase (acetonitrile) is removed and mixed with a few microliters of N,N‐diethanol ammonium chloride: pivalic acid deep eutectic solvent. Then it is rapidly injected into deionized water and a cloudy solution is obtained. Under optimum conditions, the limits of detection and quantification were found to be 0.011‐0.031 and 0.036‐0.104 ng/g, respectively. The obtained extraction recoveries varied between 74 and 92%. Also, intra‐ (n = 6) and interday (n = 4) precisions were less than or equal to 7.1% for the studied pesticides at a concentration of 0.3 ng/g of each analyte. The suggested method was applied to determine the studied organochlorine pesticide residues in various cocoa powders and beans gathered from groceries in Tabriz city (Iran) and aldrin and dichlobenil were found in some of them. 相似文献
