An integer linear programming approach for approximate string comparison

We introduce a problem called maximum common characters in blocks (MCCB), which arises in applications of approximate string comparison, particularly in the unification of possibly erroneous textual data coming from different sources. We show that this problem is NP-complete, but can nevertheless be solved satisfactorily using integer linear programming for instances of practical interest. Two integer linear formulations are proposed and compared in terms of their linear relaxations. We also compare the results of the approximate matching with other known measures such as the Levenshtein (edit) distance.     

Input optimization: I. Optimal realizations of mathematical models

Mathematical models are considered as input-output systems. The input is data (technological coefficients, available energy, prices) and the output is the feasible set, the set of optimal solutions, and the optimal value. We study when output is a continuous function of input and identify optimal (minimal) realizations of mathematical models. These are states of the model having the property that every stable perturbation of input results in a locally worse (higher) value of the optimal value function. In input optimization we “optimize” mathematical model rather than a specific mathematical program. This research was supported in part by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and in part by the Gouvernement du Québec, programme de formation de chercheurs et d’action concertée.

Transducers in medical ultrasound: Part Two. Vibration modes, matching layers and grating lobes

The performance of transducers used for medical diagnosis depends to a great extent on matching layer, backing impedance and geometry of the active surface. In this paper special attention is given to the element vibrational modes, the optimum matching, the grating lobe and change of the real acoustic impedance into an imaginary impedance as a function of the product of the width and wavelength. Grating lobes on the echo image and the effect of a mismatch of the matching layer are illustrated. Suggestions are made for the design of linear and phased array transducers considering the above-mentioned aspects.     

ENTIRE CHROMATIC NUMBER AND △-MATCHING OF OUTERPLANE GRAPHS

Let G be an outerplane graph with maximum degree △ and the entire chromatic number χvef (G). This paper proves that if △≥ 6, then △ 1 ≤χvef (G) ≤△ 2,and χvef (G) = △ 1 if and only if G has a matching M consisting of some inner edges which covers all its vertices of maximum degree.

Picosecond time-resolved laser emission of coumarin 102: Solvent relaxation

The time-resolved laser emission of coumarin 102 was investigated in various aprotic and protic solvents at picosecond resolution by frequency upconversion technique. The spectral shift of the transient emission spectrum is attributed to solvent reorientation and the results are discussed.     

无抖动ICF冷冻靶干涉图像的获取

提出一种克服由于冷冻靶制冷系统和真空系统工作时引起的振动所带来的干涉图像抖动的方法。通过两个完全相同的CCD同步捕获冷冻靶干涉图像和空间位置图像,以位置图像来标定冷冻靶的振动情况,从而获得冷冻靶在不同状态下的干涉图像。在标定冷冻靶位置的过程中,提出了频率估计、投影标定、特征匹配和全匹配这4种算法,并给出了对应的数字图像处理算法流程。     

不同环境温度下工艺参数对扩散吸收式制冷机的性能影响

外界环境温度对扩散吸收制冷循环有重要影响,以四台相同结构的扩散吸收式制冷机为基础,用实验的手段研究了不同环境温度下,氨水溶液灌装浓度、充注压力、输入功率等工艺参数对扩散吸收式制冷机性能的影响。得出了实验样机在各工况下的最优工艺参数;研究发现随环境温度的升高,样机的最佳灌装浓度下降,而最佳输入功率和最适宜充注压力升高。可为扩散吸收式制冷机根据环境温度选择各工艺参数提供一定的依据。
