The world according to Rényi: thermodynamics of multifractal systems

We discuss basic statistical properties of systems with multifractal structure. This is possible by extending the notion of the usual Gibbs-Shannon entropy into more general framework—Rényi’s information entropy. We address the renormalization issue for Rényi’s entropy on (multi)fractal sets and consequently show how Rényi’s parameter is connected with multifractal singularity spectrum. The maximal entropy approach then provides a passage between Rényi’s information entropy and thermodynamics of multifractals. Important issues such as Rényi’s entropy versus Tsallis-Havrda-Charvat entropy and PDF reconstruction theorem are also studied. Finally, some further speculations on a possible relevance of our approach to cosmology are discussed.

Courants caractéristiques et analyse de SEREigen currents and RCS analysis

In this Note, we return to the theory of characteristic modes which was introduced 30 years ago for electromagnetic scattering problems. A simple mathematical framework is proposed and complete definitions are given. The potential interest of this theory in terms of Radar Cross Section (RCS) analysis is then discussed, especially in the low frequency case. 简要地介绍了中子俘获瞬发γ射线数据及其衰变纲图的评价方法技术、主要程序及其功能、数据评价流程、强度平衡检验，以及对A=1-44的稳定核素和A>190的部分稳定核素的热中子俘获瞬发γ射线数据及其衰变纲图评价的具体应用.The method of prompt γ-ray data evaluation for neutron capture and how to calculate the prompt γ-ray intensities of neutron capture have been briefly presented. The prompt γ-ray data of thermal-neutron capture of some stable nuclei for A=1-44 and A>190 have been evaluated. The ENSDF format has been adopted. The checks of intensity balance and format have been made. The examples are given to illustrate its application.

Analysis and modeling for time-dependent behavior of polymers exhibited in nanoindentation tests

Through the arrangement of the applied load, experimental nanoindentation results of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and polyurethane (PU) employed to establish a mechanical model. The proposed model consists of irreversible delayed plastic (viscoplastic) deformation, irreversible viscous deformation, and reversible delayed elastic (viscoelastic) deformations. The phase lag exhibited between the responding depth and the oscillating load is found to be linear proportional to frequency in the range of 1-50 Hz. The residual cavity profile of the PMMA scanned by an atomic force microscope gives a validity of accommodation assumption applied in the present model. The effects of overshooting, which occurred in the dwelling process, are also discussed.

This paper describes a new capacitive structure of pressure sensor to increase simultaneously the sensitivity and the linearity of the transducer. This structure contains two capacitors which change in response to pressure, but in opposite senses. To increase even more the sensitivity of each capacitor, the pressure sensitive diaphragm carries a central boss. The optimal position and the length of the boss are also calculated. This paper presents a method to estimate reflected and transmitted wave amplitude spectra in a bounded domain such as a wave tank, when available data signals must be shortened due to interferences and wall effects. This paper extends the well known Goda and Suzuki two-probe method to three probes. The paper also suggests solutions to compute reliable transmission and reflection coefficients in spite of problems linked to higher harmonics and to the interference between different wave trains propagating in the tank.
