The paper concerns applications of LR-115A, CR-39 and PM-355 solid-state nuclear-track detectors (SSNTDs) for investigation of pulsed fluxes of protons below 300 keV. The proton streams were generated by the RPI-IBIS device operated with hydrogen puffing [Baranowski et al. 2000. Studies of hydrogen discharges in RPI-type devices with different electrode configurations. Czech. J. Phys. 50 (Suppl. S3), 101–107]. To perform ion mass- and energy-analysis, a Thomson mass-spectrometer equipped with a special input system and exchangeable detectors was used. A quantitative analysis of proton tracks upon Thomson parabolas was performed by means of an optical microscope equipped with a CCD camera. It made possible to measure proton tracks and to determine their statistics. The paper presents proton energy spectra recorded with the selected detectors, and responses of these detectors to protons of energy from about 30 to 300 keV. Best practices concerning qualification tests of radon passive detectors recommend the application of radon standard atmospheres at controlled conditions. A measurement technique has been developed, based on the application of the new on/off alpha track passive radon detector developed at ENEA. The capability of switch and pumping functions of this device has removed the time lag due to the radon transfer inside its sensitive volume and the post-exposure due to the residual radon decay. A special exposure facility has been developed based on a set of the above passive detectors connected with flange adapters to a radon chamber wall. This apparatus can be used substantially as a radon exposure standard (RES). Results of standardization tests at the ENEA Radon Facilities are given. Physical consequences of ionic diffusion processes play a major role on the outcome of electrophysiology experiments due to
both their contribution to the ionic transmembrane transport and phenomena taking place at the measuring instruments interface.
As most of the time heterogenities in biological media with respect to ionic diffusion constants are disregarded, we intended
to look upon the general case of ionic diffusion at the interface of two liquids on which gradients of these diffusion constants
no longer can be neglected. We developed a theoretical model for the diffusion potential which emerges at an aqueous interface
under gradients of concentration and diffusion constants. The experimental validation of our model was achieved through potential
difference measurements of the diffusion potential between two solutions containing sodium chloride (NaCl) and glycerine solutions
of various concentrations. Within the studied domain of the electrical charge mobility ratio, we noticed that experimental
results are in agreement with the theoretically inferred diffusion potential values. This demonstrates that the resulting
relationship for the diffusion potential inferred from our model could be applied for other cases, as well. When the ionic
solutions contains an indefinite quantity of glycerine or an unknown substance able to modify diffusion constants of sodium
and chloride, it was shown that through measurements of the diffusion potential one can infer the unknown concentration of
glycerine and the modified ionic mobility ratio. This, in turn, builds up the foundation for a novel yet simple and efficient
analitycal sensing device for quantitative determination in the field. 相似文献

A random two-dimensional large scale nano-network of silver nanowires(Ag-NWs) is fabricated by MeV hydrogen(H~+) ion beam irradiation. Ag-NWs are irradiated under H~+ion beam at different ion fluences at room temperature. The Ag-NW network is fabricated by H~+ion beam-induced welding of Ag-NWs at intersecting positions. H~+ion beam induced welding is confirmed by transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). Moreover, the structure of Ag NWs remains stable under H~+ion beam, and networks are optically transparent. Morphology also remains stable under H~+ion beam irradiation. No slicings or cuttings of Ag-NWs are observed under MeV H~+ion beam irradiation.The results exhibit that the formation of Ag-NW network proceeds through three steps: ion beam induced thermal spikes lead to the local heating of Ag-NWs, the formation of simple junctions on small scale, and the formation of a large scale network. This observation is useful for using Ag-NWs based devices in upper space where protons are abandoned in an energy range from MeV to GeV. This high-quality Ag-NW network can also be used as a transparent electrode for optoelectronics devices. 相似文献

To overcome bad prognosis of patients with heart failure and the lack of organ donors, cardiac tissue engineering has developed as a biomimetic approach to repair, replace, and regenerate the damaged cardiac tissue. During the past decade years, researchers are devoted to find different natural and/or synthetic materials that can build appropriate physical structures to contain and organize implanted cells. In this study, we present a new method for primary neonatal rat cardiomyocytes culture in vitro using alginate/collagen/chitosan hydrogel. To investigate the feasibility of this material as scaffold for cardiac myocytes, neonatal rat ventricular myocytes were isolated and encapsulated in alginate-based beads cross-linked with calcium ion. The growth of cells was evaluated by staining with α-Sarcomeric actin (α-SCA) and Troponin T type 2 (TNNT2), and the viability of cardiomyocytes was studied in vitro by assessing the expression levels of several cardiac ion channels, including CACNL1A1, Connexin 43 and SCN5A. The results showed a significant increase in cardiac myocytes number, and the expression levels of CACNL1A1, Connexin 43 (Cx43) were up-regulated significantly except SCN5A, as compared with two-dimensional cultures. Moreover, extracellular matrix produced by the seeded cells themselves was observed by staining with fibronectin. Taken together, these findings indicate that this alginate/collagen/chitosan hydrogel bead is suitable for supporting the growth and retaining the morphologic and electrophysiologic characteristics of primary cultured rat cardiac muscle cells. 相似文献
