Reduced forms of iso‐α‐acids (isohumulones), used in modern beer brewing were separated and characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Components from mixtures of rho‐iso‐α‐acids, tetrahydro‐iso‐α‐acids, and hexahydro‐iso‐α‐acids were isolated using high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and analyzed by use of one‐ and two‐dimensional NMR experiments. The data presented assign the identities of the main peaks in the HPLC traces for the reduced iso‐α‐acids. Previous tentative assignments regarding the cis and trans configurations and the structures of the acyl residues of the reduced iso‐α‐acids were confirmed and extensive NMR assignments were made. Furthermore, the previously unknown stereochemistry in the C‐4 side‐chain of the rho‐ and hexahydro‐iso‐α‐acids was assigned. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

In this paper we first give a lower bound on multiplicities for Buchsbaum homogeneous k-algebras A in terms of the dimension d, the codimension c, the initial degree q, and the length of the local cohomology modules of A. Next, we introduce the notion of Buchsbaum k-algebras with minimal multiplicity of degree q, and give several characterizations for those rings. Radical copolymerizations of electron‐deficient 2‐trifluoromethylacrylic (TFMA) monomers, such as 2‐trifluoromethylacrylic acid and t‐butyl 2‐trifluoromethylacrylate (TBTFMA), with electron‐rich norbornene derivatives and vinyl ethers with 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile as the initiator were investigated in detail through the analysis of the kinetics in situ with 1H NMR and through the determination of the monomer reactivity ratios. The norbornene derivatives used in this study included bicyclo[2.2.1]hept‐2‐ene (norbornene) and 5‐(2‐trifluoromethyl‐1,1,1‐trifluoro‐2‐hydroxylpropyl)‐2‐norbornene. The vinyl ether monomers were ethyl vinyl ether, t‐butyl vinyl ether, and 3,4‐dihydro‐2‐H‐pyran. Vinylene carbonate was found to copolymerize with TBTFMA. Although none of the monomers underwent radical homopolymerization under normal conditions, they copolymerized readily, producing a copolymer containing 60–70 mol % TFMA. The copolymerization of the TFMA monomer with norbornenes and vinyl ethers deviated from the terminal model and could be described by the penultimate model. The copolymers of TFMA reported in this article were evaluated as chemical amplification resist polymers for the emerging field of 157‐nm lithography. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We demonstrate that the 3-power torsion points of the Jacobians of the principal modular curves X(3n) are fixed by the kernel of the canonical outer Galois representation of the pro-3 fundamental group of the projective line
minus three points. The proof proceeds by demonstrating the curves in question satisfy a two-part criterion given by Anderson
and Ihara. Two proofs of the second part of the criterion are provided; the first relies on a theorem of Shimura, while the
second uses the moduli interpretation.

Block-diagonalization of sparse equivariant discretization matrices is studied. Such matrices typically arise when partial
differential equations that evolve in symmetric geometries are discretized via the finite element method or via finite differences.
By considering sparse equivariant matrices as equivariant graphs, we identify a condition for when block-diagonalization via
a sparse variant of a generalized Fourier transform (GFT) becomes particularly simple and fast.
Characterizations for finite element triangulations of a symmetric domain are given, and formulas for assembling the block-diagonalized
matrix directly are presented. It is emphasized that the GFT preserves symmetric (Hermitian) properties of an equivariant
matrix.
By simulating the heat equation at the surface of a sphere discretized by an icosahedral grid, it is demonstrated that the
block-diagonalization is beneficial. The gain is significant for a direct method, and modest for an iterative method.
A comparison with a block-diagonalization approach based upon the continuous formulation is made. It is found that the sparse
GFT method is an appropriate way to discretize the resulting continuous subsystems, since the spectrum and the symmetry are
preserved.
