A convergent total synthesis of antiplasmodial C2 symmetric (+)-ekeberin D4

The first concise total synthesis of C₂ symmetric (+)-ekeberin D₄ (1) that exhibits antiplasmodial activity has been achieved in total nine steps and 27% yield from the known diol 4. The efficient synthetic method features the regio- and diastereoselective epoxidation of 4 and convergent coupling between half fragments 2 and 3 by taking into account the C₂ symmetric property.     

Synthesis of benzannulated spiroacetals using chiral gold–phosphine complexes and chiral anions

The development of an asymmetric gold-catalysed dihydroalkoxylation strategy for the synthesis of the 3′H-spiro[chroman-2,1′-isobenzofuran] spiroacetal ring system 5 is described. Spiroacetal was generated in up to 87:13 enantiomeric ratio using chiral gold–phosphine complexes and chiral silver phosphate Ag(S)-TRIP.     

A green route for the synthesis of 2-substituted benzoxazole derivatives catalyzed by Al-exchanged K10 clay

A new, simple, and efficient protocol is developed for the synthesis of 2-substituted benzoxazole derivatives through N–C–O bond formation using Al³⁺-exchanged K10 clay (Al³⁺-K10) as catalyst. A wide range of benzoxazole derivatives are synthesized in high yields without affecting many functional groups. Hot filtration experiments showed the absence of metal leaching and catalyst can be reused for five times with only a slight decrease in yield.     

Formation of tryptanthrin compounds upon Oxone-induced dimerization of indole-3-carbaldehydes

Tryptanthrin is a natural product with numerous important pharmacological properties. Tryptanthrin and its analogs are commonly prepared by condensation of isatoic anhydride and isatin. In this Letter we investigate the formation of tryptanthrin derivatives upon Oxone-induced oxidative dimerization of indole-3-carbaldehydes.     

Microwave-assisted methods for the synthesis of pentacyclo[5.4.0.0.0.0]undecylamines

Efficient methodologies for the preparation of pentacyclo[5.4.0.0^2,6.0^3,10.0^5,9]undecane (PCU) amine derivatives are described via microwave-assisted synthesis. The obtained results revealed that microwave-assisted synthetic procedures under controlled conditions (power, temperature and time) are very convenient, high yielding, efficient and low-cost methods for the preparation of PCU amine derivatives. The new methods show several advantages including operational simplicity, good performance, significant reduction in reaction time, less by-product formation and easier purification.     

Environmentally friendly synthesis of 2-aryl-2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones by novel Co-CNTs as recoverable catalysts

The objective of this study is to investigate the possibility of using Co-CNTs as a green reaction medium and a catalyst for the cyclo-condensation of o-aminobenzamide with various aldehydes. This inexpensive, non-toxic, and readily available catalyst efficiently catalyzes the above condensation for the synthesis of 2-aryl-2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones. Compared to the classical reaction, this is a simple, highly yielding, time saving, and environmentally friendly method.
