It is shown that the fermion number in a five-dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory (M4×S1) in which the fermion is interacting with a monopole field, is quantized in units of (ϕR)2 where the scalar ϕ is asymptotically constant andR is the radius of S1.  相似文献

本系列文章一共4篇,在电磁学和电动力学框架内用尽量科普的方式分别介绍磁单极的若干奇特性质.本篇文章主要介绍狄拉克磁单极是如何展示矢量势的规范变换的.我们首先简要介绍规范变换与规范对称性及狄拉克磁单极与狄拉克弦,然后讨论狄拉克磁单极与规范变换的联系.我们显式演示狄拉克弦摆动产生的规范变换,弦摆动区域对场点所张的立体角正比于规范变换的变换函数.磁偶极子则可以由两个无穷靠近的正反狄拉克磁单极构成.相应两条狄拉克弦位置的变化都对应磁偶极子矢量势的规范变换,特别当两条弦重合时弦效应相互抵消,只剩下纯的磁偶极子.传统的由磁偶极子产生的矢量势的规范变换则可以图像化为组成磁偶极子的正反狄拉克磁单极的狄拉克弦的摆动.我们显式地计算了位于坐标原点弦为直线的狄拉克磁单极,并进一步构造了没有奇异的吴大峻-杨振宁磁单极.  相似文献

Monopole sum rules for single particle equivalent transfer reactions have been derived for target states where both neutrons and protons occupy the last active shell. The Pauli Principle lends some complexity to the sum rule, which is general in the sense that the inequivalent transfer situation and where the active shell has only neutron occupancy, become its special cases. Calculated values of various energy centroids have reasonable agreement with their measured counterparts.  相似文献

In this work, the solution of the Einstein equations for a slowly rotating black hole with Born-Infeld charge is obtained. Geometrical properties and horizons of this solution are analyzed. The conditions when the ADM mass (as in the nonlinear static cases) and the ADM angular momentum of the system have been modified by the non linear electromagnetic field of the black hole, are considered.  相似文献

Topological restrictions of symplectically filling 4-manifolds of links around simple singularities are studied by using the Seiberg-Witten monopole equations. In particular, the intersection form of minimal symplectically filling 4-manifolds of the singularity of type E 8 is determined. Moreover, for the case of simply elliptic singularities, similar restrictions are obtained. In the proof, a vanishing theorem of the Seiberg-Witten invariant is discussed. We propose a systematic way of finding solutions to the classical Yang–Mills equation with nontrivial topology. This approach is based on one of the Wightman axioms for quantum field theory, which is referred to as the form invariance condition in this paper. For a given gauge group and a spacetime with certain isometries, thanks to this axiom that imposes strong constraints on the general ansatz, a systematic way of solving the Yang–Mills equation can be obtained in both flat and curved spacetimes. In order to demonstrate this method, we recover various known solutions as special cases, as well as producing new solutions not previously reported in the literature.  相似文献

The first law of black hole thermodynamics has been shown to be valid in the extended phase space.However,the second law and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture have not been investigated extensively.We investigate the laws of thermodynamics and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture of an AdS black hole with a global monopole in the extended phase space in the case of charged particle absorption.It is shown that the first law of thermodynamics is valid,while the second law is violated for the extremal and near-extremal black holes.Moreover,we find that the weak cosmic censorship conjecture is valid only for the extremal black hole,and that it can be violated for the near-extremal black holes,which is different from the previous results.  相似文献

One of the most basic properties of magnetism is that a magnet always has two poles, north and south, which cannot be separated into isolated poles, i.e. magnetic monopoles. There are strong theoretical arguments why magnetic monopoles should exist, but in spite of extensive searches they have never been found. This article gives an introduction to theoretical and experimental aspects of magnetic monopoles and discusses their role in our understanding of fundamental physics, both historically and today.  相似文献
